Thanks dear. I am just getting nervous thinking of the long long flight from NJ to SFO. Since Mia will be on my lap, I want to get to teh boarding gate early so as to grab the first seat or the last seat(last row, maybe?)
You were really lucky. Sometimes God sends angels in disguise cuz he sees us get panicky..I always read your thoughts on babyfitand I like all your ideas and thoughts ! Keep writing !

We have done OAK- Ca to JFK- NY so many times. Honestly the first time we went with my oldest hubs and I were lucky enoughg to have the very back row all to ourselves. I strictly BF all my kids, none of them took to the bottle. So hubs gave her a little benadryl and I bf as we took off. She then feel asleep. She honestly slept most of the flight. When she would wake we changed her, took turns playing and then if she got any bit fussy I bf and she would take another nap. Just doing this she was quiet the whole time. I did a CA/UT trip once with two of my girls alone while pregnant on a tiny plane. Lucky for me, my oldest sat next to the sweetest girl who colored and played with her. Then when we got off the plane she stayed with me until we got to the baggage. She was like an angel sent to me. It was the most amazing thing ever! I bet it will end up being easier than you think!

Agreed. Feeding will ease her during take off and landing. My cross country is all the way from NJ to SFO. Its a long flight. Formula bottles are ok, as per the airlineand Mia will be in my lap which is the difficult part I guess
since the stroller and cxar seat would be checked in at the gate...One does get dirty looks and smiles as you say, but what can we mommies do? We do deserve a break to get away from the everyday chores besides, taking care of babies......
and hopefully I will be able to read the driver manual while I am up there and give teh knowledge test...Atleast that part can be done..Then comes the tough part, taing lessons for the road test.......Wish me luck !

How did you take care of your baby on the flight?

That is pretty much what we did. We just took my youngest car seat and stroller to the gate and they took it from there and didn't have a problem. It was nice with my oldest because hubs and I had our own row and she practically slept the whole time. I don't bottle feed, so I have always just BF'd her. It is a little harder on your own through :(. Bottles are usually fine, but like they said, call the airline and ask what they wil take!

I thinkI might check with the airline. For all these yrs, I never noticed what other mommies did but since I am a mother now,its different. I have seen strollers and car seats being checked in at the gate.
So once my fligth lands, I can get that stuff right away and go to baggage claim.
But wait, I have a connecting flight so will I have to tell them to hand over my stuff at the original destination, that way, i way, Ican put mia back in the stroller and catch my next flight........Oh my God !

Yes. Since Mia is on Similac, I would keep a few of those bottles with me in the diaper bag, two set of clothes, diapers, wipes, burp cloths etc.
The reason why I want to carry the stroller is because, after I have checked in my bag, I can put my baby back in the Graco combo and go straight to security check and walk to my gate. At the flight gate, they will obviously take my car set and stroller away and Mia can hold on to me.

What do you think?

Its a 6 hr flight flight ...and I agree that changing diapers and keeping her fed might help.I wish I could travel with my husband, but I am travelling alone and will have to handle everything on my own.

I haven't flown with a stroller or carseat, but check your airline site. I think you can check the stroller and carseat for free, at least on the sites I used. And if you do bottle feed, I know that doesn't fall into the security 3-1-1 requirement. But checking beforehand is def. worth it. And I think they will gate check all that stuff, so you can get it as you get off the plane, not have to go to baggage claim for it.

We have taken car seats and strollers and haven't had to pay any extra. It could be different, but that was last year.

We just checked the 3 car seats we brought. You could check the airline for what they do, but like I said- we didn't pay any extra to check any of that stuff.

I can't remember what size of containers you can have, but you might check with the airport on size of liquids you can have if you're bottle feeding. Have a diaper bag ready: diapers, wipes, extra burp rags/2 changes of clothes, mylicon (gas drops), pacifier. Honestly, I would check with friends for a smaller stroller than the graco. My sis-in-law has a stroller that doesn't have a seat to it, you just snap your carseat into place and it fits a bunch of different carseat styles but is A LOT smaller than the graco one. Since you're going to see family, you might consider finding out if anyone there has a carseat that you can borrow for the duration of your stay and just carry the child on (I think children aren't required to be restrained). That way, you don't have to haul a bulky and heavy carseat around, you don't have to pay for an extra seat, and you don't have to worry about figuring out where/how to fit the car seat.

I've heard of people mailing their stuff in advance so you don't have to pay as many fees or pack as many bags.

Again, I would check with your airport. Sometimes, places that specialize in travel can give you a list of tips or recommendations to make travel easier and they can let you know what they'll already have available at the airport. Good luck!

Durring lift off I fed my baby so her ears wouldn't bother her. How long is your flight. The first time we went on a plan with our first she was around maybe 6 months and after a lot of people said- I didn't even know you had a baby on the plane. It was just about being proactive in keeping her diaper clean and keeping her fed. It was a 6 hour flight.

hi mommies, any suggestions for travelling with a four month old? I am planning a trip to meet family in the Bay area. What tips would you recommend and whatdo I keep with me i nteh air craft?

Also,I have the Graco travel system...After I checkec in my bag, can I put Mia back in the car seat and stroller combo and go toSecurity check.
I would like to keep the minimum with me in the aircraft..
What suggestons do you mommies have?

Also, I assume that the car seat and strollers can be checked in at the gate..
After we have landed, how do I handle her? In teh sense that
since the stroller and car seat would be checked in, it would be ve ry difficult for me to assemble it and put Mia back...

Please ladies, any suggestions, thoughts ideas are welcome...
