When my DD was a newborn I got a great deal on like 5 Thirsties covers x-small, and they fit her until she was about 6 months (I have skinny kids). I just got like 25 newborn size prefolds and those covers and I LOVED it. They were so easy and it was easy to wash them and everything. I had no blow-outs, which was huge for us, and I definitely want to do that again. It was so cheap, too. I gave all of those away, though, so I might just have to buy new unless I can find a great deal somewhere.

I have a friend who swears by flips AFTER 3 months. I haven't bought anything for newborn yet, but I have a lot of options for when he is bigger.

congrats! my favorites were the prefolds, but i've been on a kick of making my own lately. i'm surprised at how easy it is! i didn't cloth diaper joeli when she was a newborn, she's 8 months now, but i think that i would use a flat fold w/the origami fold maybe. i would think that it would do pretty good, but like i said, i didn't cloth joeli as a newborn. i have the flips and i don't really care for them. the inserts used to bulk up and move around so much. they don't seem to move around so much now that she is bigger, but they still bunch and bulk up on her. good luck!

My favorites were actually the prefolds with Thirsties covers. I know they aren't that expensive, it just is the upfront cost sometimes.

Wow...baby #5!! Congrats! I looked into some very inexpensive ones and found that the Flip system seems to be very economical. They're made by Bum Genius (by Cotton Babies) and kind of look like them too. It's a one size cover & you pick the inserts you want. They just don't have cute lil prints...I don't care about that, though because they do have different colors.

So, I cloth diapered my little girl and I thought we were done, so I got rid of almost all of my diapers. Well, God had other plans for us and we are expecting again. I know that baby will have clothes since my sisters and I have all passed around baby clothes, but I am going to need new diapers and covers. I'm a little excited to buy some new ones, but sad that I got rid of my old ones. My sister has some of them and is giving them back since she doesn't have a washer/dryer in her new apartment, but I will have no newborn stuff.
