Vitamin B-12 May Prevent Birth Defects
Women of childbearing age (especially those who are pregnant or trying to conceive) are advised to eat 400 mg of folic acid (folate) daily to prevent neural tube defects, such as spina bifida, from occurring in their babies. New research shows that vitamin B12 may also play a role.

Hi Joni... I'm in the same boat. I may be pregnant, and I would be so happy it that's the case! But, it would be much healthier for me if I lost even 10lbs first. Either way, we win! :)

Three days late is a good thing ;) I was getting a little obsessed with trying to lose weight, so I stopped trying. I'm at 138 lbs and I can't seem to get any smaller than that, no matter if I try or not. I could try harder, though. My husband just bought a road bike (bicycle) and he's been riding like mad. I think I'm going to buy one too and we'll see if that sheds the pounds ;) Glad you joined the team!

Oooohh~ congratulations! I started obsessing a little too much regarding the weight loss thing. I gained a pound, soon after my period, and I freaked out! My husband told me to throw the scale away. ;) We're going to start ttc in January... but I'd like to start trying next month! :) We're going on vacation the last 2 weeks of Aug and I'll be ovulating then. But we've only been married for 4 months, although we've been friends/dating for almost 4 years. Good luck and ENJOY! :)

Glad to hear you have lost 2 pounds! That's great. I have also lost 2 pounds. Yeah for us!! How are you doing with the coffee?

DH and I have decided to ttc for the next 3 months, then if it hasn't happened we will take a break until January. We are trying to plan around my job if possible. I didn't anticipate ttc now, but several things just fell into place and it feels right. We will be celebrating our 6 year anniversary at the end of August and it would be wonderful if we were preggo then! But, I have only been off bc for about 14 days. I think my body is trying to regulate itself, but not sure if I will o this month or not. I think so because I have been experiencing the signs of O, but my temp has not gone up as much as I thought it would. Maybe it still will? I have so much to learn!

I am still working out and trying to eat healthy. I figure I can still lose a pound or two while we are ttc. Nothing extreme, but I am trying to focus on eating healthy to get the needed vitamins, just not as many calories.

You know, that's really great that you set a goal of running a 5k! I've always wanted to do that, not that I like running, but just to prove it to myself. I've been trying to do P90X, an at home workout plan that incorporates yoga, strength training, cardio, core, and kickboxing. It's REALLY hard! I need to stop drinking coffee right now and get to working out! :) I've lost 2 lbs already though, so I'm pretty excited. I quit my gym membership cuz it was getting too expensive and I wasn't going. I try to walk my dog 3 miles a day, on my days off- 1 in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. I slack when I'm walking her though. I really should pick up the pace and utilize it as a "work out", not a leisurely stroll ;) Keep up the training! I'm proud of YOU :D

Glad to hear it, STAGGRN! We can definitely encourage each other! I need to pick up the level of intensity of my workouts and cut out stress (bored, happy, etc) eating when I'm not really hungry.
I prefer to work out in the morning before work. I work with college students and work crazy late night hours/weekends so working out before I go to work has helped me stay on track. It's not unusual for me to go to work at 9am on Friday and not leave work until 2:00am on Saturday morning. So I have to work out in the mornings or else it won't happen. I walk most days of the week and usually not less than 5 days a week. This is mainly to help me destress. I don't really push myself as hard as I should. I recently set a goal of running a 5K (my first ever) before ttc. I selected a race on Oct. 24th so I am working on that goal rather than just focusing on the scale.
Today I walked a mile, ran a mile non-stop, and then walked the last mile before work. Typically this is all that I would do, but today after work I went to the water aerobics class at my college. I find it relaxing, but it really works you out too. The resistance of the water is wonderful. I know it's working out, but I kind think of it as a reward after a day at work instead of working out. I also did 15 minutes of arms before water aerobics. I haven't worked out my arms in forever and not only do I want them to look better, but also need muscles for lifting a baby! I figure the water aerobics and arms are something that I can keep up once I get pregnant. Well, the walking too. Don't think I'm dedicated enough to keep up the running. I just started running in April, mainly just to prove that I could do it!
What have you been doing to work out?

Hey girl! I DO need support!!! Good for you for working out every day :) I'm trying to set a goal of 3-4 days/wk, on my days off. I am just too tired when I get home from work. I'm happy to meet someone who is in the same boat I am!

STAGGRN you are not alone! I want to lose 10-15 pound before we start ttc. I am trying to eat healthy and I already exercise almost everyday. I'm trying to cut down on stress eating since I already exercise regularly. Let me know if you need any support! Although I checked out your baby page and it looks like you are really motivated so keep up the good work!

Looks like no one's been on this too recently... am I all alone? My husband and I are in the "preplanning phase." We're not actively trying, but I do want to be smart and eat right and exercise. My job is stressful and my schedule changes every week (I'm a nurse). I'm having a hard time committing to ANY work out routine! I don't know what my problem is :( I'd like to lose 9 lbs before I get pregnant... hopefully we'll start trying in the next 3-6 months. Any tips?

We tried charting BBT for about 8 months but in November found out I wasn't Oving. We decided to take some time off from trying and with the holidays time flew! It's hard not to think about trying though! I'm trying to distract myself with other things :)
I have heard some great success stories with the OPK you are using, so good luck!

Hello and welcome everyone!

I'm so glad to see new people have joined our "Future Hot Moms Team"! :)

For those who are actively TTC...what current methods are you using, if any?

I am using the clear blue easy fertility monitor and am charting my BBT. This is our 4th month TTC and I have learned to focus on other things so that it does not consume me! I have been really trying hard to eat healthy, work out every day and take care of ME! :)

How about everyone else???

Sarah

Hello! I'm new to this group, and am looking forward to a little support! DH and I are taking a break from TTC, our dr recommended clomid but we want to take a break before we try. I'm not very active, and need to lose about 10, but more importantly get in shape! My goal has been 10 min a day for at least 4 days a week until I get to 30 min a day most days. I don't know about you all, but winter is so hard to get moving!
Hope you don't mind the rambling!
