Ava had a BIG month of milestones!!! I almost did a mid-month update because so many things were changing so quickly.
The BIGGEST news...Ava has quit bfing! On June 22, my sister had a bachelorette party and I was gone all night. It was the first night I have ever left Ava. She didn't bf for nearly 24 hours, so we decided to try to end bfing at that point. And it worked. Cold turkey! We had a few semi-rough days, but it wasn't too bad. For three nights, I slept in Alayna's bed with her, and Ava slept with Justin when she woke up in the middle of the night. During the day, Ava would grab at my top occasionally, but she didn't have any screaming fits. We kept her very busy with other activities. I am so glad that we have ended that phase, and Ava seems so much more grown up to me now.
Because she's not bfing, Ava is also doing a better job of sleeping in her own bed. She is sleeping in her bed from 8:30 until anywhere from 2-4:30! One night she even stayed there ALL NIGHT (until 9 am)!
On June 25th, mom and I checked Ava's mouth, and she had 3 new teeth!! She's up to 11 now.
Ava is saying more words. I've heard her say dog, that, there, hi, bye, tatat, and of course mama, and dada. She likes to say Mom over and over again. She says it in question form over and over and makes the cutest little faces.
My baby girl is a little fish. Ava was nearly jumping out of our arms in the pool, so we bought her a puddle jumper. Alayna has worn one last summer and this summer, so we went ahead and bought Ava one even though she's under the weight limit. Sure enough, she LOVES it. She paddles her arms, kicks her feet, and swims independently all over the pool. This is the best summer I've had swimming with kids!
Ava has started to point out body parts. She knows foot, toes, hand, head, tongue (teeth and mouth) and belly. Sometimes she can remember ears, eyes, and nose.
I weighed Ava on July 8th, and she is up to 20 lbs. Since she quit bfing, she is eating like a champ. She LOVES fruit and meats! Sometimes she finishes her food and then eats whatever Alayna has left too. I'm surprised by how well she eats. My MIL was in for the last month, and Ava really enjoyed her pancakes and eggs.
My sister got married on July 7th, and Ava and Alayna were flower girls. Ava walked down the aisle smiling and charming the crowd.
Ava and Alayna play together very well most of the time. Alayna loves to play "pretend" with Ava, and Ava goes along with it. Ava loves to serve me pretend food. :)
