I get pretty excited with new goals, and tracking my eating is not exception. I've been pretty faithful to the Baby Fit diet guidelines, and I have noticed a couple of benefits. First, I have more energy. I still get tired, which is expected in the first trimester, but I don't have the late afternoon energy crash. Secondly, I have experienced less nausea symptoms, and no heartburn (yet!). Third, I'm recovering more quickly after workouts.
I have always been a fairly healthy eater, and an avid exerciser. Extra running miles has always meant a tolerance for extra calories. I've never worried too much about my nutritional intake. After my last pregnancy, I found that shedding the last 10-15 pounds took a LOT longer than in my first pregnancy. Now that I'm three years older, I anticipate an even greater difficulty. That's why I decided to be more aware. Now, I really want to make it a permanent lifestyle change, so I can be fit and healthy through life.
Today my husband and I had an outing with the kids. Afterwards, we stopped at Dickie's BBQ for lunch. I don't want to be overly anal about my diet, so I shared in the Picnic meal with the rest of the family. I think it is the biggest meal I have eaten this week. It included barbecue brisket, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans. I definitely feel differently than I have the rest of the week. My stomach has been unsettled since. The good thing is, I ran 10.5 miles this morning, so I can afford a little indulgence. However, I think I will quickly return to my newly developing eating habits.
