So much for this blog being about health and fitness....haha. My weight loss has been pretty slow - I'm about the same weight I was when I was 5 months pregnant. My body has changed a lot though and plus, since I'm breast feeding, my boobs are much bigger - so my tummy looks smaller - and I'm okay with that ;)
"Monster Mash" is now eight weeks old! He weighs approximately 10 1/2 pounds and breastfeeding is going well! Nights are also going really well. We've gotten into a great routine. We put him to bed between 9 and 10pm, sometimes with a bit of fussing (some nights more fussing than others)...he sleeps until 3-5am when he wakes up hungry, we nurse, and then go straight back to sleep until the morning. Gosh, it's been nice getting almost a full nights sleep, every night.
He's very strong, he can hold up his head for long periods of time when he's propped up on your shoulder and shorter periods of time during "tummy time". He's trying really hard to learn how to talk and tries to mimic the sounds you are making, but for now, it always comes out the same. He's also figured out how to blow bubbles and it's the cutest. He's smiling lots, especially at his daddy and even laughing and squealing!
A lot has happened since my last blog. Last weekend we went down to Price to spend some time with Kevin's family. We had a campfire and spent the night down there, in the morning we drove up the canyon to visit some ghosts towns.
The prior weekend was my very first mothers day! It was so special! The baby is still sleeping in the co-sleeper next to our bed, but I take him into his own room for feedings because I am not physically comfortable nursing in bed and would much rather be in the rocking chair. I came back to bed from our early morning feeding and there was flowers waiting on my night stand =) So sweet. I thanked Kevin be he says "those aren't from me....they're from the baby!"
We met up with Kevin's family for lunch at the Black Bear Diner to celebrate Mother's day with all the moms together =) and then our family went on a hike with the Jones' family up Big Cottonwood Canyon - baby tagged along in the Moby Wrap.
At the beginning of May, when he was almost six weeks old, my mom came to visit from San Diego. She took him shopping and bought him everything he wanted, including a few more cloth diapers that he LOVES (purple and orange) since we had to move him from newborn size diapers into size "small" diapers when grandmas was here. I went back to work four days a week when my mom was out here. She stayed home with him while both mommy and daddy were at work.
We figured out our baby sitter situation and Margaret has been coming to our home to watch him for the past three weeks, three days a week. It really works out well, I go home on my lunch break to feed him and he eats two bottles of expressed breast milk a day (about 4oz at each feeding). It's been going great! Tuesday is daddy day, Kev's day off and Thursday is mommy day, my day off!
Next Thursday he sees the doctor for his first set of immunizations and we'll get an official weight and growth numbers. Hope everything goes well, that's all for now :)
