| 26th Week Blood Tests & People's Comments (ugh) blog |
WOO HOO! Got the blood test results back... everything was normal. Blood glucose, CBC, TSH (I have hypothyroidism), and Antibody Screen too... all normal. I was nervous about the blood glucose test, as I have always been sensitive to sugar & refined carbs. And now that I'm pregnant, I'm eating more starchy foods than I have in a long long time (and staying active, hoping it balances things out!) So whew, one less thing to worry about. :)
I have been reading other people's posts, saying that they are getting comments about being too big. I'm getting the opposite... everyone tells me that I'm carrying too small. Several people have said that I look 4 months along instead of 6 months. It didn't bother me at first, but after another 3 people mentioned it at Easter service on Sunday, I got nervous... is the baby growing enough? Am I exercising too much? Not eating enough?
So I called the doctor's office to get my blood results and asked their opinion. They pointed out that my weight has been steadily going up (right in the normal range) and my belly measurements are all spot on for how far along I am. They told me not to worry what others say, and that it seemed like I was taking good care of myself & the baby is growing normally.
It's funny how casual comments from other people (even comments made with good intentions) can really cause unnecessary worry and hurt feelings. At least now I can say with total certainty that my doctor believes I am right on target and that I am supposed to keep up what I'm doing!
Good luck and happy belly growing to all you ladies out there. :)
