| Prenatal Visit #4: A Fantastic 2 hrs! blog |
Well on Sept. 15 I went for my 20 week prenatal visit. I was a little upset that Matt was having a supper busy that day and couldn't get off in time for the appointment (they were in the shop trying to get the trucks fixed so they could get back to work in the field).
Hayley and I left the house about 6:30PM and got to the midwifes house just in time for our 7:00PM appointment. Hayley (27.5 almost 28 months) fell asleep on our way there so I left her to sleep on the couch. Cara (my midwife) was eating dinner when we got there, she finished as I went into the restroom for the normal pee in the cup routine!
Then we went upstairs to start talking. We went over some of my current discomforts (tightness in my finger and toes), sciatica, and just plain feeling down. It was so nice to talk with her about it.
Matt was getting off work and called just as we were getting ready to listen to the heart beat. It was so wonderful that even though he couldn't make this appointment he still got to be apart of it. The hear beat was good 152 BPM!
Then I went to step on the scale.. I gained 10 lbs from my last visit! She told me there was nothing to worry about because I just hadn't been putting one weight before so my body was playing catch up.
Then we just chatted about labor, my first birth and SO much more. It is wonderful to feel like I'm in the presents of a friend. The care I get with this midwife is 100 times better then the group of OBs I had with my daughter.
I just wish I could explain the joy I have with seeing her. Not just because we check up on the baby, but she really checks up on me. No question goes unanswered, every question is gone over in great detail, and I feels SO comfortable talking with her about how I'm feeling! What a great pregancy.
