I went into labour Oct 1st 6:50am my contractions started. They were regular at 4-6mins apart and getting pretty intense everytime. I rang l&d and went in after my mum came to look after my DD.
When i walked in i was 6cm dilated and it was about 9:30am. I laboured with the gas and that seemed to keep me pretty well out of it.
When the pain got really intense and contractions were coming long and fast i asked for an epidural, i just couldn't bear it anymore about half an hour after i asked for it the anesthetist came, it took him 2 goes to get it in because i had scaring from the last one and it was sending a lighting bolt pain straight down my leg. So by the time he got the epi in and gave me a squirt until he admistered the 'REAL' thing they wanted to put a monitor on the babies head to check the heart rate etc. and at this point they checked me for dilation, i was 8cm and in the meantime while they were preparaing for the monitor not even 2 minutes later, i felt alot of pressure (like i needed to poo) and they checked to see how dilated i was, well i had reached 10cm and ready to push.
The head was crowning and apparantlay a little stuck, so my midwife was trying to ease it out with her hands, in the meantime they have called the doctor because they thought they would have to do an episiotamy because they baby's shoulders were quite wide. But with a little perseverence by the midwife she managed to save me the episiotamy and got the baby out, not even 30 mins after i had the epi. put in, my midwife said that it probably didn't even have a chance to start working.
After a 6 hour labour Liana was born at 1:02 pm, she weighed 3.9kg, 53cmlong, head circimference 34.5cm. I didn't tear at all and feel much better than i did with the birth of my 1st daughter.
We aren't really sleeping but that's expected and i am learning to juggle my toddler, baby house and business all in the one day.
