40 Weeks: Blake is here!
What are the odds my 1st & 2nd son would be born on their due dates naturally? Imagine that!

On Saturday (25th) I was having hard labor pains all day, but really far apart (3-4 an hour). That night I decided to go to bed early to rest up just in case he decided to come during the night. I woke up around 11:30pm with really hard contractions. I just knew this was it! I started timing them. At first they were 6-8 min, lasting about 1 min. After we were well on our way to the birthing center they got closer together (3 min, lasting 1 min). Just after midnight, we got there the midwife said I was 5-6cm dilated and fully thinned out. The baby's HR was really low though (108 bpm) so she thought we would have to go to the hospital. Thankfully the doppler was wrong and his HR was about 124 during contractions. Labor was pretty easy ... I walked around, got in the tub and then finally it was time to push! At 2:51am (on the 26th) Blake came into this world after about 4-5 pushes! Everyone was shocked! I couldn't believe it was so short, the midwife was shocked I carried on a conversation throughout the entire labor process (except during the contractions). By noon on Sunday we were home. Now we are just trying to adjust to life with a toddler and an infant.

39W6D: 1 Day to Go! Maybe ...
As of Friday I'm 2-3cm dilated, 80% thinned. My weight was 138lbs and the doc stripped my membranes. I contracted all day Friday (minor pain) and Saturday (major pain but too far apart) but nothing consistent. The midwife would call this the putsy-putsy stage. I've been resting and walking hoping labor begins soon. Bloody show came at 8am on Saturday. I'm not sure if it was from the membrane sweep or because labor is starting soon.

I dropped off DS with the in-laws just in case I go into labor this weekend. I miss him so much and cannot wait to hold both my boys in my arms soon!

39 Weeks: 6 Days to GO!
My ticker says only 6 days to go! I have been on a cleaning frenzy since this weekend and went shopping to stock up on food for when Blake arrives. I have even made plans every day this week to keep busy: mostly play dates to keep my toddler busy too! The weather has cooled down a bit so we are going to be outside this week. My best friend is scheduled to arrive Friday so I'm hoping (fingers crossed) she makes it for his birth! I wouldn't mind having him this week, but we're all expecting him this weekend (closer to his due date). I guess I really don't want to get my hopes up that he MAY come early! Regardless, we are all set to go. I have my bags packed, the car seat ready, food packed for the birthing center and all those fun little gadgets they tell you to pack to help ease labor. We'll see if they work ;) I also have my cord blood kit and (most importantly) the video recorder and tripod! Don't want to miss his entrance!!!!

Something is happening because my dogs are acting weird, DS is acting really needy and I'm really anxious. Come to think of it, I had a hard time sleeping before Zach was born and now I'm having the same problem. I don't know if its adrenaline or anxiety. I've also been have contractions and the baby has been moving like crazy. Until I go into labor or see the midwife again (Friday) there isn't anything else to report.

I'm keeping up with my workouts since I'm convinced that helped me with labor/recovery last time so I'm making it top priority. Since I can't sleep past 5am it hasn't been a problem ;) I'm doing the plan I stated in my last blog: Cardio Circuits! They are kicking my butt! So far, I'm getting 12 30 sec sprints in and 6 rounds of circuits in 45 min. Not too bad. The sprints have been on the elliptical.

Morning Weight: 139lbs (+23lbs)

Hopefully my next blog is about the birth of my second son!

38W3D Appointment
Nothing new to report here ... Still 1cm dilated / 50% thinned. I have 1 more appointment next week (Friday) when the midwife will do a membrane sweep and hopefully (fingers crossed) I will go into labor that weekend! He is due that Sunday, and DS arrived on his due date so it's only natural that Blake comes on his :) Ha! .... yeah right!

I have a few things planned next week, but nothing that takes me far from home (just in case). I still have a toddler to entertain which is getting harder and harder to do in this heat!

Here is my tentative workout plan:
Monday - Friday: Cardio Circuits
The cardio circuits are approximately 45-60 min in length.
3/30 sec sprints on elliptical or treadmill (if treadmill then light jog)
2-3 min light pace in between "sprints"
Should last 10 min
THEN jump off - 3 rotations of 3 body weight exercises: 10-12 reps
THEN back to cardio
THEN back to rotations
THEN back to cardio
REST!

Morning Weight: 139lbs (eekkkk .... 23lb gain!) .... it's baby ... it's baby ... it's baby ...!!!!

38 Weeks: 2WW Begins
At my 37w4d appointment the midwife told me I was Strep positive. Great! Another thing to worry about during delivery. They are going to give me the antibiotics during labor BUT it takes 4 hours to work (fully) and since DS came quickly I'm assuming I won't have 4 hours of labor ... at least I was hoping not! Ha! The midwife told me 1 out of 200 babies will get the infection if the mother tests positive and doesn't get the antibiotics in time. Usually if the water breaks and takes the mothers 15 hours or more to have the baby increases the chance of getting the infection. I'm going to try not to worry about any of this right now because there isn't anything I can do about it.

I'm now 38 weeks. Yesterday 37w6d I started cramping ... a good sign my body is preparing to have this baby. I starting rocking on the yoga ball and doing pelvic circles. I'm also trying to keep from reclining. This will help the baby get off my spine and give him enough room to drop and get into final position.

Projected Workout Plan (is subject to change):
Monday- 45 min walk
Tuesday - Lower Body Weights
Wednesday - 30 min bike
Thursday-Upper Body Weights
Friday- 45 min walk
Saturday - BRICK 1mile walk; 5 mile bike; 1 mile walk
Sunday - REST

Mornings Weight: 138lb (22 lb gain)

Food Logs!!! They really do work!
This is how I've managed to curve cravings and keep my weight gain to a minimum: FOOD LOGS! They really work! You are less likely to eat between meals, snack on unhealthy foods and choose more veggies, fruit, whole grains and lean protein. I noticed on the days or weeks I skipped logging I would randomly snack on whatever and chose crap foods that had no nutritional value. Don't get me wrong ... I still indulge every now and then, but try to keep it to a minimum.

37 Weeks
I'm going to focus on cardio these last few weeks of pregnancy because I don't want my muscles being sore during labor. I also don't want to wear myself out (like I did with my toddler) before labor begins. My attitude this time: labor is coming so rest up! ... there is no need to wear myself out before it begins.

Workout Plan:
Monday - Swim 20 Laps (freestyle) 15-30 min
Tuesday - Early AM Cardio Circuits (garage) 45-60 min
Wednesday - Swim 30 Laps (medley) 30 min
Thursday - Swim 40 Laps (freestyle) 30-45 min
Friday - Early AM Cardio Circuits (garage) 45-60 min
Saturday - Early AM LI Cardio (garage) 45 min
Sunday - Rest

36W3D: August 1st
Yay! August is FINALLY here! Only 3.5 weeks left!
We had a U/S done on Baby Blake and he is doing really good. I was nervous about him being underweight, but he's measuring about 5lbs 9oz and will be 6.5lbs at birth. We will see! I'm surprised he is smaller than my first son, but all babies are different :) I have enough fluid ... another thing I was nervous about.

I'm 1cm dilated; 50% thinned
His head has not engaged yet, BUT the second one rarely engages before labor begins.
I still have Braxton Hicks contractions every now and then (mainly when I overdo it).

I finished the week with my weight training workouts & will start swimming next week.

Current Weight: 136.2lb

36 Weeks
Man, I'm tired! Fatigue set in about half way through the week. This has put a little damper on my plans, but if its one thing I've learned about being a mom is to be flexible. I managed to make it through my workouts and take DS to all the activities I planned for him. I have more things planned for this week, but I'm just going to take it day-by-day and rest as much as possible.

~I feel like a garbage disposal, eating everything in sight. I'm going to eat a small something every 2 hours to try to curve this monster appetite.
~I'm uncomfortable. That's to be expected. Even though baby is measuring small (-2.5cm last visit) I still feel HUGE! If he is still small at my next appointment I'm going to have them do a U/S to see if anything is wrong.

Planned Workout:
Monday - Legs/Shoulders (gym)
Tuesday - Cardio Circuit (home)
Wednesday - Walk; Cardio (home)
Thursday - Chest/Arms (home)
Friday - Back/Legs (gym)
Saturday - Walk; Cardio (home)
Sunday - Rest
*most of these workouts are only 30-45min and pretty low intense. My sets range from 2-4 and my reps are 8-12 about 40-50%.

Weight: 135-136lbs (20lb weight gain)

34 Weeks
6 weeks left! 45 days? Doesn't sound that long ...

We took our "Birth in a Nutshell" class last weekend. It was refreshing and informative, but left me with anxiety. I think I'm more nervous this time because I know what to expect. They say labor with your subsequent children are shorter ... I hope they're right! 5 hours doesn't seem that long, but when you are in pain that long it seems like FOREVER! No birth plan this time around, but I did compile a short list of things I need my DH to do for me when I'm in labor (getting fluids is at the top of the list with changing positions every 30 minutes). I was SO dehydrated last time my pee was almost brown.

Blake is head down but with all the little limbs I'm feeling on the outside I think he's posterior right now (face forward / Sunny side up). All those little limbs are causing a lot of pain and pressure on my abs. On Wednesday I'll have the midwife feel his position to confirm. They say babies will turn during labor and just a few are born Sunny Side Up. Since this is my second child, I hope he turns. I'll just have to labor in positions where he is off my spine (on all fours, bent over, etc.)

I've felt a few menstrual cramps and cervical pinching in the past week. My energy is going through highs and lows.

Workout Plan:
Monday - Legs (Gold's)
Tuesday - Cardio Circuits (Anytime)
Wednesday - OFF
Thursday - Shoulders / Arms (Anytime)
Friday - Back / Chest (Gold's)
Saturday - LI Cardio (Home)

Weight: 135lbs (up 19lbs)

33 Week Workout Plan
Monday - Legs (Gold's Gym)
Tuesday - Shoulders / Chest (Anytime Fitness)
Wednesday - AM Cardio Circuits OR Rest (Home)
Thursday - Back / Arms (Anytime Fitness)
Friday - AM Cardio Circuits (Home)
Saturday - Low Intense Cardio (Home)

Sets are down to 2 and reps are anywhere between 10-15
It's getting harder to get through the workouts. My strength is lacking & my legs are bothering me when I do cardio so I can only do 15-30 mins.

Meal Plan Ideas:
Breakfast - oatmeal pancakes; oatmeal w/ berries & protein powder
Snack - green berry protein smoothie; organic rice cakes w/ peanut butter
Lunch - Sprouted veggie sandwich; Tuna and broccoli salad; Egg & black bean wrap
Snack - Fruit w/ String Cheese & Almonds; Greek Yogurt w/ berries & uncle sam cereal
Dinner - Fish w/ Veggies; Stir Fry (noodles or rice w/ veggies); Veggie Casserole
Snack - Cottage Cheese w/ pumpkin or cocoa

32 Weeks
Recap of the last two weeks:
~We celebrated my DS 2nd birthday.
~It is officially HOT in Central Texas ... 100+ ... So I'm mostly inside.
~My feet are starting to swell. Magnesium has been a huge help! The natural restless leg dissolving tablets help too.
~I finished training my contest clients and now working Tue/Thurs nights until August.
~We finally found a nursery set that we liked and could take home (just put it together today)
~I start going to see the midwife every other week starting this week
~Having normal pregnancy pains associated with having a large tummy :)

Things that still have to be done:
~Find a pediatrician to circumcise Blake after we take him home
~Organize his nursery ... sort clothes, etc.
~Take a birthing class (this Saturday)
~Pack an overnight bag for me and baby
~I'm sure I'm missing half the list!!!

Workouts:
I stuck to a plan last week and hopefully can stick to a plan this week. I managed 3 cardio sessions and 2 weight lifting sessions last week. This week I'm hoping to lift more days (4) and do 2 days of cardio. It has been hard this time around: I have a 2 year old that demands a lot of my attention, no daycare is available at our gym anymore so I have to drive to Gold's Gym (30 min away) if I workout when DS is awake, and it's SO hot in the garage in the afternoon when he's sleeping I haven't been able to workout there either. Finding time to workout has become a headache! BUT I'm going to do it no matter if it's 20 min or 60 min!

Morning weight: 132.4lbs

30 Weeks
I haven't been keeping up like I'd like to, but with a soon-to-be-2-year-old and one on the way I'm BUSY & tired! My free moments are now consisting of quiet time in front of the TV or reading a book :) I'm sure you can relate.

Recap what has happened since 24 weeks: We went on vacation, DS started his "2 stage," I'm wrapping up Figure Coaching (this is the last week before competition) and I'm starting to nest a little (getting nursery ready, etc.).

Around 25 weeks DH and I decided to kick meat to the curb for awhile and focus more on veggies at mealtimes. So far, so good. I've even cleaned out the pantry of all the processed crap we've been eating (which isn't really all that bad considering what most people eat). I'm mainly sticking to whole foods: fruit, veggies, whole grain, beans, etc. I feel great and I know its good for our little baby! No worries about me not getting enough protein ... I'm always on top of that! I really don't want my muscle mass to drop ... more than it has already!

Training has been fluctuating. I'm not beating myself up if I can't get to the gym every day. Lets face it, times are changing and I need to learn to adapt to what I've been given. If I do make it to the gym I'm doing full body circuits and walking. I'm hoping to make it my mission to walk every night with my son (last night was a disaster as he had a full blown tantrum for 20 min!). So we'll see how that goes. Maybe I'll just go by myself ;)

My weight hasn't changed in a few weeks. I'm between 130-132lbs. The baby was measuring a CM smaller at my last appointment but nothing to be concerned about right now.

Oh and we finally named him!!!! Blake William ....

22 Weeks
It's a BOY!!!!
We are really excited Zach will have a brother to play with. He can already say bubba :)
My workouts a beginning to be limited, but I'm hanging in there. To counter my activity, I'm just eating as clean as I can. I'm also experiencing dizzy spells due to low blood pressure. Other than that, everything is great! The baby is very active and I can feel him on the outside now. Such a great feeling!!!
We'll buckle down in June to pick a name and get the nursery set up.

18 Weeks
***Posting a week late***
I'm really trying to keep track of my blog every other week so I don't forget.
What's new? Not much, just growing! I think I'm averaging 1lb per week. I feel much bigger in the belly this time around (at least sooner). They say that's pretty common. We are gearing up for Holy Week and have a lot of things in store for Easter. We will know the baby's gender on April 11th (Wednesday after Easter). Can't wait!!! (S)he is kicking and moving all around. I can't believe I'm almost 1/2 way there! It has gone by so fast! I start training 3 girls for a figure competition this week (19 weeks) all the way until the end of June. It will keep my mind off of baby and hopefully keep me motivated to keep working out and eating right. Don't want to be the fat girl representing them! Ha!

19 weeks - 125.8lbs

We're getting closer to finding out the gender! No real news to report since my last blog. I'm still working out and eating as clean as I can. My weight was 121 on Friday. Eek! Maybe that has to do with me finding the Halloween candy and girl scout cookies :) Maybe I haven't been as good as I think I was.

Approaching 14 Weeks: 2nd Trimester
Time just flew by! I can't believe Sunday I'll be starting my 2nd trimester!
I am feeling great ... the fatigue is gone! The baby is really active. In the last two appointments the heartbeat was 152 bpm. I've even started feeling the butterfly flutters in the lower abdomen (occasionally). Such a great feeling!
I'm back to exercising. For two weeks I've managed to workout 5 days each week. Which is great considering I took a little over a month off. Here is my workout schedule so far:

Monday - Back
Tuesday - Chest/Arms/Cardio
Wednesday - Spin Class
Thursday - Shoulders/Cardio
Friday - Legs
Saturday - Off OR a walk around the block
Sunday - Rest Day

My eating is correlating to my workouts and so far I've managed to keep up with it. I've gained 3 lbs (116 to 119) the first trimester ... right on track. I'm not concerned about the weight gain. My goal is the keep up my workouts, eat as clean as I can and have a healthy baby.
Here is a pic of me at 13.5 weeks.

"Your overall weight gain should be around 25-35lbs depending on how much you weigh pre-pregnancy. Anything over is just going to stick with you after the baby is born. Answer to your questions: it just depends. Some moms will gain nothing and some will gain more. I think 10lbs is a little excessive because the second trimester is when the baby really begins to grow (1lb per week) and you put on the most weight. The 3rd trimester you will still add weight (about a 1lb per week) or sometimes stop ..." -- TXFIGURE_TTC2

7 Weeks
Some of the bad (extreme fatigue) spilled into this week, but it hasn't been too bad. I still have morning sickness. Mainly when I haven't eaten for awhile or right after. I also have heartburn.

I took the week off from working out to rest. It has helped with the fatigue. I'm planning to return to the gym next week. Especially since my appetite has picked up!

The Birthing Center was nice. I'm really looking forward to giving birth there. I think as I put it to them "I know this is going to suck, but if I can make it suck less I will."

6 Weeks
Morning sickness has begun. It's not very strong, but if I do too much at one time I feel whoozie and sick.Salty carbs are on the horizon! My motivation level has dropped a little and extreme fatigue is in full force. I managed to make all my workouts for this week and take down my Christmas decorations so I guess I'm not too unmotivated.

I'm picking up new clients for personal training and training 2 for a competition. I'm super excited!! Look for my figure training website (coming soon) www.figureworkouts.com

I worked on splits this week & took more off days so my body could rest.
Monday - Back / Bi
Tuesday - Off
Wednesday - Legs
Thursday - Off
Friday - Off
Saturday - Chest / Tri / Shoulders
Sunday - Off

I'll work on the same splits next week too & depending on how I fee I may add more cardio on my off days.

5 Weeks
So far, so good. I actually feel great! I'm praying this lasts through the first trimester.

Christmas was a little overwhelming and the day after was a mess. DS and DH came down with the Hand, Foot & Mouth virus. Poor DS just cried through Christmas Eve mass & dinner and DH just sat around feeling ill. Poor babies! I just ended up eating WAY too much!

Our families were shocked when we told them! I ended up making a Christmas card for them to announce the pregnancy.

I setup a tour of the birthing center for January 9th. I guess they'll assess me and I can ask questions, etc. before I/they decide to accept me as a patient.

4 Weeks
Everything is great so far! However, I'm gearing up before the "storm." I was SO sick with DS around 6 weeks so I'm trying to get a lot done right now physically that I might not be able to do in a few weeks. This pregnancy is already different: I'm not having any symptoms so far. I keep temping just to make sure I'm still pregnant.

I called the Birthing Center, and they will see me at 10 weeks. So I guess I'll just wait until the end of January to make an appointment. By my calculations (based on ovulation) I'm 4w2d and Sundays start a new week.

HERE IS MY 4 WEEK GAME PLAN:
Monday: Full Body Plyo Circuit w/ 30 min treadmill incline intervals post workout

Wednesday: 45 min Cardio
Thursday: Lower Body Circuit
Friday: Full Body Circuit w/ 30 min treadmill incline intervals post workout

REPEAT 3X'S

#2: Cable Squat Rows -------Inner frog squats REST 1 MIN
REPEAT 3X'S

#3: Spy squats with T raises on the lunge and curls on the squat---pushups REST 1 MIN

Baby #2 is on the way!!!
Santa came early this year! December 14th to be exact.
I decided to not "try" this cycle and what do you know ... baby!

Saturday night I threw up (for no reason) and I've had diarrhea all week (I know, TMI) so yesterday (Wednesday) I decided to take a pregnancy test and there it was ... a faint line! I boxed it up in a small Christmas box and gave it to DH as an "early Christmas present." He was so excited! I haven't let the news sink in just yet. We have a lot going on right now, so I thanked God and keep praying this little one keeps growing until I get to the doctor. I haven't decided what I'm going to do about the doctor just yet. I want to go to the birthing center to have another natural birth but at the same time I think I need the hospital just in case. My OBGYN left so I have to find someone soon.

We are planning on telling our family Christmas weekend. I'm still searching the perfect way to share the news.

EDD is August 26th. (2years, 2 months, 1 day from DS)
Beginning weight: 115lb

CD 30 / 10 DPO
I was a little disappointed this morning. My BBT temp was back down to 98.0 (still above the coverline though) and HPT was -. I was looking back at my blog and at 10 DPO with DS I had similar symptoms: My temp dipped close to the coverline, cramping, etc. I thought before it was due to implantation (estrogen surge, etc.) So who knows! No AF yet and that's a really good sign! I usually don't make it this far. I'm leaving for 2 days so no temping and no POAS until Sunday. It's either going to keep me sane or make me CRAZY!

CD29 / 9DPO
My BBT temp has been slowly moving up away from the coverline. This morning is shot to 98.6! Yippie! I bought new progesterone cream yesterday and changed out the battery in my BBT. That may have something to do with the high temp this morning.

In the past, AF arrived on this day ... no sign of her yet. I even POAS this morning and thought I saw something, but it's still too early to tell. I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow morning and then I have to wait until Sunday (I'm out of town until then).

A few of my signs so far:
~cramping since yesterday
~extreme fatigue since Friday

Fingers are crossed!!!

CD 24 / 4 DPO
Temps have been really strange these past 3 days. At 2 & 3 DPO my temp dropped to 97.7 (software said 97.9 ... both times I woke up about an hour earlier than usual). Today my temp was 98.1. I think the temp climb was due to progesterone cream I started using 3 DPO. My thoughts: I have low progesterone. Of course only a blood test can confirm, but I have a lot of the symptoms: short LP (7 to 10 days), low post-O temps (hanging around the coverline), etc. I am sure I ovulated on CD20. I had all my classic symptoms. I'm kind of scared I didn't drop the egg though. I guess we'll see in a few days. This is the same pattern that happened last cycle. I'm really hoping the NPC changes the outcome.

Cycle #3 - TTC
Here's hoping "3rd times the charm!"

Last month AF showed 10 DPO. I think the stomach flu had something to do with it. So on to another cycle. This time I took Vitex (AM & PM), B6 (AM & PM), Prenatals, Folic Acid, EPO, Tussin and used Pre with ever BD. I noticed a BIG difference. I actually O'd on CD20 (instead of 30 something). This would make the shortest cycle since the birth on my son (16 months ago)!

I am just now 1 DPO. I'm not going to stress or worry these next few days. I'm thankful I have Halloween and a volunteer retreat to take my mind off the 2WW.

Baby #2? 47/9DPO
The stomach bug hit our household last Thursday (3 DPO) and I'm just now over my bug today. It was pretty intense. We are doing A LOT better now! Needless to say if I'm not pregnant this cycle I know why. I wasn't able to keep track of my temp very well (up and down all night with DS then with myself!) However, so far my temps have stayed elevated (Monday's isn't recorded because I was running a fever). I'm planning to test tomorrow. It may still be too early, so I bought 3 :) One for the next 3 days!

So far, I feel great. I'm not sure what is pregnancy related or what is stomach bug. I think my sense of smell has heightened and my boobs are bigger. With DS the smell and food aversions was my biggest challenge during the first 12 weeks. After being sick for 3 days I had a not-so-fond flashback to my morning sickness. Ugh! I hope it's a lot better with our next child ... but I won't get my hopes up.

I'm still not working out, except walking DS around the neighborhood at night. Once I get the BFP/BFN or AF I'll get back to doing something. I think my sebaticle is coming to an end ;) My laziness is subsiding and motivation is coming back around.

AM weight: 115lb (from THE BUG!)

Baby #2? 43/5DPO
I thought I would never ovulate this cycle! It took 38 days!!! I really think it was due to stress around the time I usually would ovulate. I'm SO thankful I did and we timed it just right ;)

Today I am 5 DPO. Somethings I've noticed: cervix is firm, low and closed (hasn't been closed since having DS). I've been having creamy CM (good sign) and dull cramping. Today my boobs look HUGE and my tummy is even starting to bloat (possible PMS?) I can't use my boobs as a sign anymore because they no longer are sore around ovulation (my 1 tell sign of ovulation) or anytime for that matter. Maybe nursing DS for 5 months has something to do with it. I've cut back on my caffeine intake and started taking my prenatals regularly. I even dug out my Skinny Bitch, Bun in the Oven book for meals. If you can get past the title it really is a great book!

My temp shot up this morning (98.4) making my chart look triphasic. Another good sign. Any somehow I just "know". My feelings today are very similar to when I when DS was conceived. I will test 1 week from today!!! So excited!!!

I've stopped working out with weights until I can test. I really don't want to put too much stress on my body right now. I've been walking with DS. Just for future reference, I always put my weight on my blogs so I can revert back. 117.8lbs

5 DPO
My morning temp is all over the place. I was 100% sure I O'd when my temp shot up to 98.1 the day after I noticed the EWCM and started cramping. The day after my temp dropped to 96.9, 97.3, 97.7 & 97.7. If it doesn't get above 98 I'm afraid no baby this cycle. With DS my temp was around 98.4 after 4 DPO. My temp may be lower this time around but I'm not so sure. I guess we'll just see what happens. I'll POAS Wednesday (1 more week). I've been cramping really badly lately and feeling nausea. That may just be PMS though. No need to get my hopes up. I just need to have patience.

I think I should mention (for the future me) that after DH and I BD'd I felt pregnant. I know that sounds weird but I felt the same thing when DS was conceived. I don't know how to explain it.

My weight is 115.6lbs this morning.

2WW for Baby #2
DS turned one in June and I was thinking I had more time, but DH and I agreed to have our kids close together (rather than apart) SO here we go with TTC Baby #2.

Actually, to be honest I thought I had a lot more time. DH doesn't remember having a "I don't really want any more kids right now, etc" conversation a few months ago so I had made plans to compete in a few bodybuilding competitions and try to get a supplement sponsorship for a year. Now it's "when are we going to have more kids!" MEN!

Well, ever since DS was weaned from BF'ing I've had a regular period. Which is weird because I've never had regular periods (always lasting from 35 days to 50). Even with my strict diet and workouts for competition I managed to still have a cycle. I say this to lead into the next paragraph: 2WW for baby #2!

Woops, I think the we may have gotten pregnant on the 1st try. I still have 10 more days before I test, but my temp is up and I'm cramping like I did with DS. The night we decided to not use protection was the day before ovulation. The day of and days after, I've been cramping. I guess we will see what is to come in a few days.

40 Weeks - We Welcomed Zach Blaze!
Less than 5% of babies are born on their due date ... Well, our little guy was just added to that statistic. We welcomed our first child, Zach Blaze, into the world on June 25th @ 5:05am. He was 7lbs 2oz and was 19.5 inches long.

I actually woke up with very small labor pains on Thursday, June 24th @ 2am. The mistake I made was that I never went back to sleep. I went to my OB appointment that morning and she stripped my membranes again. This time I told her to not be so gentle. I was determined to have him that weekend. My best friend was driving down Thursday through Sunday to coach me through natural labor so I really wanted him to come when she was here. SO, I actually scheduled to have the OB break my water on Saturday morning if he didn't show up on Friday. Well, it turns out I didn't need that appointment after all.

Thursday, after walking on the treadmill at the gym all day to try to get labor started, labor started. I wasn't sure at first because it wasn't too bad, but then as the night went on I started to get really cranky and the pain was building. Luckily my best friend made it to my house by 4:30pm. By the time DH got home (around 8:30pm) I was ready to head to the hospital. He took his sweet time getting out the door. He wanted to take a shower, BAKE muffins, and go for a walk!!!! OMG! He was driving me CRAZY! By the time we loaded up and headed to the hospital it was midnight. I forgot to mention we had to stop at the gym on the way to put up a closed sign for the morning Boot Campers. Ugh!

When I was FINALLY admitted the pain was intolerable. I was only at 4cm and was completely in pain and devistated. I kept telling my DH and BF that I couldn't do it and that I wanted to drugs. I told them that I was unprepared because we didn't take any classes and that I wasn't trying to be a hero. It's funny now, but at the time it wasn't.

When I went into the delivery room, I (after being up for 24 hours at this point) decided I was going to have this child without drugs. I focused through the contractions and moved around. I found the squat bar on the bed to be my best bet to get me through. I think the worst part was the transitioning phase of labor. My body was not my own anymore. All I could do was shake and push down. At 3:30am I was stuck at 9cm and just couldn't get to the 10cm. My BF made me get out of bed and walk around and squat during a contraction to help him decend. At 5:05am Zach came out and they laid him on my chest. Wow! I was amazed. I only pushed for 10-15 min because of a mirror they put at the end of my bed. Once I saw his head ... I was determined to get him out.

He was 7lbs 2oz and 19.5 inches. Cute as can be with a full head of hair!!

We left the hospital early on Saturday ... 36 hours after delivery. We got to spend 2 nights with our little guy and then on Monday took him to his first doc visit. She called with bad news late Monday night. It turned out Zach had a major case of jaundice and had to go back to the hospital to the NICU to be treated. I cried my eyes out! We had to leave Zach in the NICU on Monday night. That night Zach stopped breathing during a feeding, but luckily started back up a few moments later. Tuesday morning he did the same thing. They told us he had to stay in the NICU so they could monitor him for 5 days minimum. If he had another spell they would keep him longer and run tests on him. They told us some babies are not fully mature with the suck/swallow/breath and forget to breath durning feedings. I felt terrible. Luckily they got us a room at the hospital for the remainder of Zach's stay. His jaundice cleared up by Wednesday and hopefully tomorrow we will be heading home to start our new life as a family ... again!

39 Weeks
Fun Facts:
I'm now 2cm and 70% thinned ...
My mucus plug has been coming out over the last week. Gross!
I've gained a total of 25lbs
I've been having irregular contractions daily for 3-4 weeks now
My bags have been packed for 3 weeks now ... I"M READY TO GO!

The OB stripped my membranes at my 39 week visit. It's been 4 days and NOTHING ...
I'm convinced that nothing I do is going to get this kiddo out of me so I'm just going to have wait it out. Caster Oil didn't do anything for me (not even gas pains), nipple stimulation was a flop (even though I did it for 2+ hours), bouncing on my yoga ball for hours = nothing, walking (although I do it for exercise) didn't start anything, Evening Primrose Oil and Red Leaf Rasberry Tea = nothing. I guess he still has 5 more days to bake.

I told my friend the other day I know why so many women get induced or schedule C-sections ... because the waiting period is horrible. I'm really just tired of people asking me if I've had him yet OR calling me about it. It really is making me a little depressed. I know they're just trying to make plans around their schedule, etc. BUT it's not like I can predict when he's going to arrive.

In the meantime, DH and I have been going out and doing things we won't get to do after Zach comes. Yesterday I went to the spa and got a prenatal massage. Wow! It was AWESOME! We've been dining out a lot and going to the movies. It's funny because there are things I'd like to do but can't because I'm pregnant and won't get to do after Zach is born until he's old enough to stay with a sitter.

Well, hopefully the next blog will be about Zach's birth.

"I am the same way PG, but at least you are dilated. I have been having irregular contractions for about 3-4 weeks and nothing. The Doc said that I was 80% thinned though. I am due on Friday, but I am convinced that she is not coming on Friday. I have already scheduled an induction date, just in case she does not want to come on her own. Well good luck and keep us posted on your delivery." -- NATURALYPRETTI

After I wrote the last blog entry and took a shower my real mucus plug came out. Nice ...

There is no doubt what it is when it happens. Just FYI! :)

Hopefully this means something will begin soon.

38w3d
Saturday night we went out with friends and I was having Braxton Hicks ALL night long. It was crazy how many contractions I was having during dinner and the movie.

On Sunday early morning I woke up around 2:30am to some cramping but didn't think anything of it. Around 4am I realized I was having contractions and decided to time them for an hour before waking up DH and calling the OB. They ended up being 3-4 min apart and lasting up to 1 min. Around 6:30am we were on our way to the hospital to see if I was in active labor. They took me to triage and monitored me for about an hour. I was contracting every 3 min but wasn't dialating so they sent us home. What a bummer! DH and I were so disappointed little Zach didn't come home with us :(

That day we went about like normal. We went over to DH's parents house for dinner and durning dinner my contractions got worse. They went from menstural cramps to BAD gas pains. I was excited! Weird, I know .... but it meant we were making progress. When we got home I went to the bathroom and wiped ... blood all on the toilet paper and in the toilet (sorry, TMI). I lost my plug ... another good sign labor was starting. I told DH we needed to be prepared to leave durning the night so we needed to go to bed early. Well, we woke up Monday morning and NOTHING! My water didn't break, the contractions went away, and all I was left with was brown spotting that lasted for 3 days. Ugh!

Now we are still waiting but trying not to think about it. Today, I went into full nesting mode and tomorrow at my doc appointment I'm having her strip my membranes to see if anything happens. I have 9 more days before my EDD. I think I have enough patience to get me through :)

Okay, I'm ready. Did you hear that, Zach? I'm ready.

Yesterday's OB appointment was uneventful. I'm still a 2 and 30%. At least its something I guess. I woke up with strong menstural cramps and then they went away only to return later that day. I really thought I would be going into labor last night, but no.

Today, nothing ...

I'm rapidly gaining weight now. I'm a human garbage disposal. This concerns me because he's starting to add fat and pounds and that just means more to push out ... naturally! Eeek!

Today was my last day personal training for awhile. The OB and I agree I should be resting and staying off my feet until the baby comes. This gives me time to get some things done around the house and around our gyms before the baby comes. My car is finally getting fixed. We should have it back tomorrow.

Hopefully I have more to talk about next week.

Two words: FULL-TERM! Yeah, baby! We're almost there!

Yesterday's OB appointment went well. I am now 2 cm and 30% thinned. Baby Zach is still taking his sweet little time, but technically he still has 3 more weeks to bake in this oven. THEN he'll have to make the journey into the world because this little lady is about DONE with being pregnant!

Some new things this week: Baby Z is now SO long when I sit down he is up under my rib cage. AWESOME! I love getting in and out of my husbands truck (which I'm driving now because my AC finally went out of my car). I've been having contractions but they are all over the place so I can't get too excited. My feet are still swelling and I can no longer shave or paint my toe nails. I'm still going to attempt it tonight ... wish me luck!

My workout plan is still yoga/stretching with a 3 mile walk every day. I even pedeled the bike 7 miles yesterday. Everything I'm doing now is to induce/speed up/and ease labor. I'll let you know if it works ;)

Morning weight: 145.8lbs (yesterday)

36 weeks
We are now 36 weeks! Only 4 more to go! We had our last u/s at 35w5d and Zach was measuring close to 6lbs. They predict if he goes the full 4 weeks he'll be around 7 1/2lbs at delivery, but who knows. It's funny because everyone tells me I'm SO small and he must be a pretty small baby, but he's average size. I am 1cm dialated and having false contractions daily. I'm also feeling the pinching in my cervix pretty regularly, especially when I'm moving around a lot. My hospital bag is packed and the car seat is installed ... just in case he decides to come early.

My legs are still cramping and restless at night (right now). It sucks. DH told me we should buy a rocking recliner so I'd be comfortable these last few weeks, but I don't know if we can afford one right now. The AC went out on my SUV and we need to fix that first. It's already starting to get into the 90's here, and I can't haul a newborn around in a HOT vehicle! Perfect timing, right?!

Everyone is telling us to get some rest and go on lots of dates these last few weeks. We're so busy at work trying to get things in order I haven't been getting a lot of rest and by the time we get off to go on a date we're poop'd! I thought I'd be slowing down by Memorial Day but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. I still have 3 to 4 clients a day until two weeks before Zach is predicted to come. I have told everyone that I'm DONE training June 18th unless he comes early. I'll just be doing office work after that.

My workouts have slowed down. I'm now just doing cardio and stretching. I keep telling myself that I'm going to do yoga, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

My weight was 144.6lbs this morning. The doc says I've gained 16lbs ... and lost 1lb at my last appointment. She says that's normal towards the end.

I'm seeing the OBGYN every other week now. That means we're getting closer!!! My SIL & MIL toured the hospital yesterday. It finally hit me that Zach will be here in a few weeks. It was the first time I felt really emotional and almost cried. I couldn't help but think that DH should have gone with me to look around, but he had to work. He is finally starting to be more involved and help me out. Which is wonderful! I talked to him a few weeks ago about it and he did a complete 180. I think it's hard for the fathers to participate in the pre-birth because they're not the ones experiencing it. What is the saying? "Women become mom's when the stick turns positive ... Men become fathers when they hold their newborn baby" ... something like that.

My SIL is having her baby soon! Her OBGYN says within 2 weeks! That's crazy because I'm only 5 weeks behind her. She's getting nervous and scared. I'm trying to stay positive and keep her mind at ease.

Zach's nursery is finished. All his clothes are washed and put away. I just need to pack the overnight bags and clean up the carseat for the ride home. I feel ready. I just have to get through May and then he can come anytime after that.

I'm planning to train through May and into June. I stopped taking on new clients and just focusing on the ones I have. At my last appointment the OB hooked me up to the contraction machine because I was having a lot of false labor that week ... she says we'll make it to term going at the rate we are going. Which is good, because I only know two speeds it seems: FAST and FASTER! Ha!

I still continue to workout. I'm trying to do something 6 days a week: weights or cardio. My endurance has taken a nose dive. All the extra energy is being used up by the baby and not much is left for lifting weights or doing cardio. I'm having to take longer breaks to catch my breath and instead of intense cardio sessions I have to do LONG low intense sessions. That's okay though. I'm hoping all this helps with delivery :)

Next weekend DH and my family are heading to the beach for one last vacation before the baby gets here. I'm SUPER excited!!! The OB will check me on Thursday to make sure I'm not dialated and give me the OK before I depart for 4 days.

AM weight - 140.6lbs (up 18 lbs)

I had my 7 month appointment this morning. Everything looks good so far. I now start going every 2 weeks until the end of May and then every week after that until he comes. How exciting! He'll be here before we know it!

The baby shower is next Saturday at my house. So, we (DH and I) have a lot of prep work to do this weekend, inside and out. I'm just excited rooms are going to be painted and the carpets are getting steamed ... yay!

Pregnancy "pains" I'm starting to feel: Braxton Hicks contractions on my walks at night, leg cramps (calf/hamstring.arch of foot) during the night, fatigue, lower back pain, nerve sensations in my lower right leg and right side of tummy (doc thought was weird but not concerned). Other than that I feel great!!!

So far this pregnancy has been wonderful! I'm just ready to meet Zach, and hold him and kiss him and love him .....

Morning weight: 137.6lbs - we're starting to slow down in our weight gain.

The baby has been growing! So far I feel really good. The only thing that bothers me is my lower back. I've had to stop power walking because it's just too painful. I'm going to start swimming next week. This should help my joints, and I'll be able to get a really good workout. The fatigue is starting to come back. It helps that we hired more people to help with our gym so I can take some time to rest and relax. I'll be personal training up to the day I go into labor (unless the doc says something). This will help take "baby" off my mind and give me something to do ... besides clean the house! That's the other thing: NESTING has started. Isn't it too soon for that?

22 Weeks
I've been a little MIA for awhile. It's mainly due to DH and I opening a second fitness center and me adding 3 new clients to my already full training schedule. Right now I'm okay to handle the workload, but I already told DH and my clients that after Memorial Day (the latest) I'm going to be taking a break. It will give me and my body 4 weeks to rest and relax (nest) before our little one arrives.

We're deciding on two names: Zachary (Zach) Blaze and Jacob Blaze. We've decided to name him at the hospital after he arrives so we can see which one fits him better.

****He moved for the first time Feb. 9th! It was SO awesome!! He's been squirming ever since****

In the meantime, I've done my registry for the baby shower April 17th and we're going to tackle the nursery next month. Everything seems to be coming together. In less than 4 months he'll be here and our lives, as we know it, will be changed forever!

Here I am at 21w6d ... 129.4lbs
****I have a head cold so I'm looking a little tired in the pic****

19 Weeks & Gender!
I forgot to add on my last entry that I had a fall down our stairs at home on Tuesday. It was minor, and I didn't think anything of it. I did my workout on Wednesday and added some pregnancy core moves at the end. On Thursday I was cramping REALLY badly. I called the OB and she wanted to see me. It turns out I pulled some ligaments (phew!) but just to make sure we had an ultrasound done. While they were poking around they decided to do the anatomy screen ... Well, it's a BOY!!
Weight: 128.2lbs this morning
We are heading to SA in the morning for our anniversary vacation. How exciting!!!

18 weeks
18w5d

I haven't kept up the blog like I should. Life tends to get in the way sometimes. Back-tracking: Not a lot has changed since my last entry, except that I'm now showing. It took 17 weeks for people to ask me if I was pregnant. I thought it would be at least 20! My weight is still around the same (127.8lbs) ... total gain 6 lbs. Don't let the numbers fool you though, my body is definitely taking on another shape! I'm eating all the time. My appetite increased in the 17th week and hasn't let up. I'm just eating a lot of fruits, veggies, whole grains, protein, healthy fat (peanut butter) and fat free dairy products.

Last week I was really depressed. The new gym is putting a lot of stress on my relationship with my DH and (feeling VERY emotional and needy lately) made me feel really alone and sad. This week is looking a lot better! We're celebrating our 2nd anniversary this weekend in San Antonio at the Riverwalk. We are both looking forward to it! Just to get away from everything and enjoy ourselves.

My MIL sewed all the nursery bedding together. I uploaded pics of it to my folder. We still need to paint and organize it. I also want to get a bigger bookshelf.

Next week is the BIG day! We'll know the gender next Thursday!!! I think it's a boy ;) Let's see if I'm right.

4 Month Check-up
15w6d

Everything looks good. The baby's heartbeat is 152. At this point I'm going to stop guessing the gender because we'll know in 4 weeks (at the next appointment). I think the baby will be more real to DH and I after we see it on the ultrasound.

I was looking over my "to buy" list yesterday, and because my sis-in-law was so generous and gave us all her baby stuff we don't really have much to buy. The nursery as been setup since the first trimester ... I couldn't wait *smile* but we still have to organize and paint it. I'll take pics of it after it's complete.

I feel great physically and am back to working out regularly. I have certain limitations, but I still feel like I'm getting the most out of each workout. My weight was 126.6lbs this morning. It seems like I'm gaining about 1 lb per week since the 14th week. Right on track.

DH and I are in the middle of construction on our 2nd fitness center. Hopefully it will be up and running by Feb. 1. That's the goal at least.

Christmas is over :-( Back to the grind today. My appetite is back. Last week I started eating a lot more because my body needed it. My bump is even starting to come out ... mainly after I eat. I have a few pants that are hard to sit down in. Good thing my mom bought me some Belly Bands. I have a feeling in the next few weeks I'm going to be needing them. I'm still exhausted .. usually in bed by 8pm. Even with all the crap I ate during Christmas I'm still around 124lbs. It's time to get back in shape and eat clean again!

3 Month Check Up
I had my 3 mon check up yesterday and heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time! It was exciting! 160 bpm!!! What?! It was 143 bpm at the first ultrasound. The nurse says it could be from me running to the office (I was late) or the baby flipping/flopping around. This makes me think that I could be wrong, and we may be having a little girl on the way. Regardless of gender, we are both happy. We will find out Feb. 4th (2 days after our Anniversary). For the joyous occasion, we have decided to host a dinner with both families to celebrate. I'm still trying to come up with creative ways to spread the news.

The OB says that my low blood pressure could be causing the dizzy spells, etc. She said as I move into the 2nd trimester my blood pressure is going to drop because that's what happens so I should monitor how I feel and eat/drink regularly. She wasn't too concerned with my weight-loss because I'm able to keep food down. It's just finding food that sound good to eat. I'm getting better though. I weighed 123lbs when I woke up.

I feel like I'm moving graciously into the second trimester. I'm still experiencing EXTREME fatigue. One night I'll sleep 8 hours and the next 12 hours. I can't seem to make it past 8pm (no matter how hard I try). Monday morning I woke up at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep so I went to the gym to workout (this wasn't the first time this has happened). I'm also having to find creative ways to motivate myself at home, during workouts and at work. I've had a "not give a damn" attitude for too long! So far, my motivators have worked.

We are getting ready to start construction on our second gym. My husband has taken the reins on a lot of the planning because I've been too tired or too sick to deal with it. He's a Saint, and I love him to DEATH! This next year will be very interesting. I'm just keeping a level head and taking one day at a time. I believe God wouldn't give us more than we could handle.

9 Weeks
What a week! The sickness, for the most part, is gone. I made turkey chili on Monday and the baby didn't like it. I guess it was too spicy. Needless to say I won't be eating that again for awhile.

I had a "spell" during church last Sunday. I really think it was due to my sugar dropping pretty low. We almost went to the ER but DH called the doc instead. Everything ended up being okay after that.

I'm still having food aversions. Yesterday I drove to 2 towns in search of something to eat. Talk about crazy! I ended up with Chick-fil-a ... ugh! I haven't eaten fast food in a years. DH and I think this is what's to come ... a picky eater. I hope we're wrong!

I started to workout again this week. I'm still pretty weak because I'm not eating as much, but that didn't stop me. I'm glad to be back. I weighed 125 lbs this morning.

DH and I are in the process of opening another gym. The stress level is up. I haven't been apart of the planning stage because I've been ill, but that's all about to change. I know it will all work out ... it always does. We got our property tax bill for the gym and DH's income tax balance this week too. Eeek! So much for a BIG Christmas. I guess it's the price you pay for owning your own business.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We are hosting a dinner at our house and then having one at my parent's house on Saturday. Wow! I'm glad I'm working out again!

8 Week Update
Today is the day after the storm. I caught a nasty stomach bug (on top of morning sickness) on Tuesday and was on the couch all day yesterday (Thursday) sipping soup and putting down Popsicles and Gatorade. I'm happy to say I SURVIVED!

I woke up this morning feeling GREAT! The nausea, throwing up, and diarrhea is gone (TMI). I can finally function again!!! Yay! I trained 3 clients back-to-back without needing a break, and even opened my planner and started planning projects past today. For the past two weeks I've been taking one day at a time. My weight is 123lbs. Down 6lbs since pregnancy. I'm still not back to working out until I can eat more. The food aversions are still there. I'm going to the grocery store after work and pick out things I will eat (good or bad).

We are heading to a birthday party tomorrow. I'm also cutting off my hair and donating it to Locks of Love. I've been in dire need of a new do! I'm trying not to get a "mommy do" just yet, but want something short and sassy :)

My next OB appointment is December 7th.

Update & Picture - 7w5d
Baby S is 7w5d old today. The u/s confirmed "my" EDD: June 25, 2010. I was kinda hoping (deep down) I was wrong and Baby S was really 8 1/2 weeks. That meant the morning sickness would be almost over! The wristbands are still helping BUT nothing (and I mean nothing) helps when there is a STRONG odor in the air! Good OR bad! I was training a client yesterday who had body spray on and I had to go to the RR twice during her session just so I could get some air. At one point, I thought my breakfast was coming up. Ugh!

I'm down to 124lbs! I don't think I can lose much more weight. DH says it's because I'm not eating enought and I agree. I have no desire to eat but I'm starving! Since I'm not eating enough, I decided I shouldn't be working out either. I can't afford to lose the calories my body needs to maintain. I told DH this morning that I shouldn't be complaining and enjoy this because it means we are having a baby.

Here is a pic of our little bean! 7w4d; 143 bpm; umbilical cord on the top; head on left; butt on right

Thank Goodness for Motion Sickness Wrist Bands!!!!
I dug out my "cruise ship" wristbands thinking "What the hell? Let's try it!" ... Well, low-and-behold the nausea is gone. I actually worked out with my girlfriends AND had a craving for Subway afterwards. That's a first! Woohoo!!! I'm BACK!

If anyone is interested, the wristbands are called "Travel Eze". I picked them up at Walgreens (I think). They are cheap and effective for Morning Sickness. You may look like an '80's aerobic queen, but who cares ... you're NOT throwing up!

We're heading to the Wursfest tomorrow to eat, drink (not me), ride some rides and MAYBE polka (if I can drag DH out there!). It will be a BLAST! Sunday we have dinner plans with the BIL and SIL to celebrate our pregnancies and her getting past her 1st trimester without any complications. We have LOTS to be thankful for.

SO Sick!
Ugh! I'm hungry, but nothing sounds good. I'm thristy, but can't drink. Yesterday I spent the whole day on the couch. When I move too fast I feel like I'm going to YACK. Ugh! I know this isn't forever AND it just means the baby is growing, etc. BUT it's really annoying. I lost some weight this past week (5 lbs!). I didn't even have 5 lbs to spare! I made the BEST enchiladas Monday and 10 mins after I ate I lost it ... bummer. Tomorrow is 8 weeks so that means (hopefully) only 5 more weeks of this misery. Actually that sounds really long ... I'm going to try not to think about it.

Next appointment is Monday with the OB. Maybe I'll get to hear the heartbeat or see something.

6/7 Weeks
Since the doc and I still not seeing eye-to-eye on EDD I'm just going to say I'm 7 weeks now. Again (from past blogs) we'll have a better EDD next Monday or in December during our first u/s.

What a week! I started off REALLY constipated. Ugh! It was really uncomfortable. Then things started moving along and now I'm queasy. Pregnancy is such a beautiful thing ;) I haven't gained any weight but the "bump" is starting to form. I'm the only one that can tell though. Ha! My boobs are still REALLY big and hurt lke h!@#. I'm still working on my limitations, and trying hard not to overdo it.

DH and I started talking names. Alyssa Grace (girl) and Blake William (boy). I'm still working on the boy name ... DH is stubborn :) We'll see if these names stick by June.

I see the OB on Monday for an exam. Not really sure what to expect so I'm not. DH isn't even coming with me. I told him to come with me to the December visit to see the baby and hear the heartbeat. It seems really late to do these for the first time then, but I guess they know what they're doing. I'll be in my second tri then.

First Doc Visit
I had my first doctor visit yesterday (10/26). It was just as I suspected: paperwork, do's & dont's of pregnancy, hospital info, etc. Nothing too exciting. They drew my blood and actually got 3 tubes! Wow! It only took two techs and about 15-30 min. I have the smallest veins ... one lady even said she poked a 7 year old with better veins than me :( Oh well. They also said as my blood starts doubling it should make them larger ... we will see. The nurse has me down for EDD June 18th (one week before I think I'll deliver) but we'll keep it until the 20 week sonogram. The nurse also thinks DH and I need to see a genetic counselor to get some tests done. I was born with a cleft palate and I have a cousin with cystic fibrosis. We'll know more about that at the next visit in 2 weeks.

The Muddy Buddy was a blast. DH sub'd for me. He had a great time and is thinking about doing it next year. Who knows ... he may be my buddy :) Here is a pic of us after the race.

May be further than I thought
I may be further along than I thought. I was taking into account my conception date, but if the doc uses the first day of my last period I'm 6 weeks today. Wow! I guess I'll let her decide on Monday. So right now I could be 4w6d OR 6w. I guess in the long run it's only a week difference. Either Jr. will be born June 17th or June 25th ... and we all know they never arrive on their due date so I'll take it with a grain of salt until he/she develops further.

We told DH's family last weekend. They were all shocked! We told the BIL/SIL first so they could tell their news (their 9 weeks preggo) first and we followed it up announcing "Wait, that's not all ... We're having a baby too!!!" It was great! MIL didn't know what to do with herself. She is SO excited!! I can't wait to see my family in 2 weeks.

We are driving to Dallas this weekend for the Muddy Buddy. I'm excited to see my BFF and visit with her family.

More to come ..

4 Weeks (approx)
The news is still fresh in our minds. I still can't believe I have a baby growing inside me! We told my parents on Wednesday, my brother and SIL on Thursday and we'll break the news to DH's family this weekend. It will be kind of weird because BIL/SIL are announcing their pregnancy too. DH just doesn't want to wait. He would tell everyone if he could.

My first doc appointment is 10/26 (week from Monday). I've already started noticing changes in my body! I have the blue veins on my chest (*sarcastic* nice!), I'm TIRED all the time, my boobs are HUGE (I think they went up a cup size!), and I've lost weight (3 lbs!) because nothing sounds good to eat. I'm now 126 lbs!

I took myself out of the Muddy Buddy yesterday. DH is taking my place. I told my BFF that I couldn't do it because something deep down was telling me not to. I'm still working out, but nothing as intense as this race is going to be. It's 7 miles of rough terrain and the teams run, mt. bike, and go over 5 different obstacles (including the famous mud pit at the end). Pretty intense ... I told her she can push me into the mud after the race is over. She said OK! Ha!

That's all for now. I'll update on Monday after we spread the news to the in-laws.

Squint to See the BFP!
I woke up this morning at 5:45 anxious to take my temp. I convinced myself yesterday this would be the day I would know either way (BFP or BFN). Temp was 98.4 ... a VERY good sign. Then I creeped to the bathroom, POAS and prayed. About 2 minutes later I thought I saw something. About 3 minutes later it was there. A small and very faint line, but a LINE! I didn't know what to do next. It was just before 6am and DH was snoozing. I went to wake him, but then stopped. "How do I tell him? Should I wait and surprise him later?" Oh, who am I kidding. I went back into the bathroom and made sure I wasn't seeing things. Confirmed the second line and then woke DH to tell him "We are going to have a baby!" He tried to play it cool. "Let's not get too excited." BUT later was ready to tell everyone we had a "squinter". Ha! We are both on cloud nine.

Hanging By a Thread
Yesterday I was so sure AF would show. I was very depressed. I took my temp a zillion times during the day to be sure. The BBT was below 98 until about 8pm last night. It shot back up to 98.6. This morning I temp'd and it was 98.4 at 6am. Yippie! That means I'm not out of the race just yet. I'm still cramping, and feel the need to grab a tampon and run to the bathroom, but AF still hasn't shown. My HPT's have all said negative so it's still not over, BUT I'll be less worried today and maybe get some work done. I have one left so I'm saving it for Friday. I'm praying hard that this is our month.

My software program said my chart was triphasic yesterday (10 dpo). I hope the temp drop and cramping is due to implantation. No spotting yet.

"Yes, all my tests came back negative until today's SO don't give up hope! Some woman won't see a positive until 14 to 16 dpo. It just depends on how my HCG is being released by the "bean" at the time you test. Thanks for reading my blogs. They have been the only thing keeping me sane. I'm now deciding if I want to race or not next weekend. Good luck with your TTC! Hope you get your BFP soon!" -- TXFIGURE_TTC2
"Did you take negative tests this time around and then pop a positive? If so, that is great! Then I know if I get a negative not to give up hope! I've been reading your blogs! That is great that you are a runner...I can't run, but I love to exercise. I really want to be very active during my pregnancy (and labor!).

Best of luck!" -- STAGEMAMA

Doesn't Look Good
HPT was (-) this morning. What's worse, temp dropped to 98.2 at 5:30 this morning. Software calculates the temp to be 98.5 (disturbance factor) ... but I'm not convinced. AND I'm cramping like a Mo Fo. I think (sadly) AF is around the corner. *tear*

I'll give it til Wednesday, if AF isn't here I'll test again.

In My Dreams
I had really vivid dreams last night, some that included + HPT(s). Boy, I hope it's a sign! I'm going to POAS tomorrow. If it's (-) I'll test again on Wednesday.

Lately, I've been struggling with my emotions, feeling extremely needy, and starting crap with DH for no apparent reason. The crazy part is I know what I'm doing but can't help myself. *sigh* I keep telling myself it's PMS, but deep down it feels a little different.

My temp has been high and stable for a few days now. It looks triphasic to me (a good sign of pregnancy) ... my first ever.

Okay, I'm going to stop here before I get my hopes up too high.

Updates to come ...

Is it HOT in here?
My temp is climbing! 98.2 yesterday and 98.6 this morning. Yay! Crossing my fingers for the next 6 days. I'm still trying not to stress about it but if I'm not stressing over "baby" then I'm stressing about the gym. Ugh! I think I need some yoga and a hot bath.

Looking Much Better Today
My temp shot up this morning (98.2!) so AF is not on the horizen ... just yet. I was actually burning up when I woke up this morning. I'm pretty happy about it. Even though I didn't get a lot of sleep last night (Wed. morning boot camp is 5:30a and DH was throwing up all night!) I'm still in great spirits. 7 more days! Tick tock ...

4 DPO ... Ugh!
Today: CD 27/ 4 DPO

My puppy woke me up at 5am but I just laid there hoping she would go back to sleep. I didn't want to take my temp because she associates the beeping sound with me waking up and her gettting out of her kennel. SO I didn't take my temp until 6:30am. I'm a little worried because it's starting to take a nose dive (97.7, 98.0, 97.9, 97.7). I'm also starting to cramp. Ugh! Because my LP was only 6 days last cycle I started taking NPC. I started taking it yesterday. My boobs are REALLY sore, and I'm starting to eat like a garbage disposal. I hope it lengthens my LP.

I'm praying AF doesn't show up and I get to test in 8 days ...

Being Wrong Never Felt SO Good!
I thought it would be another long cycle, but I was wrong. I O'd on my own two days ago (CD23)! I'm really excited! Looks like I'll be testing Wednesday, October 14th for a June-July baby! Like I previously blogged, I'm not going to stress these next few days and try to focus on other things. If God decides this is still not time for us to have a child then we'll just keep trying. Stay tuned ...

Prepared for Another LONG Cycle
Ugh! It's CD 17 and no CM in sight. I find this very weird and worrisome. I was hoping I would see/feel something by now, but no. The only thing I can do is wait. Looking back at past FAM cycle charts I usually O around CD 26 - CD 35. So really I shouldn't start seeing anything for another two weeks. I really HATE long cycles. It's so unfair. I decided "baby on the brain" is coming back and I need to relax. On my dog walk last, night I felt the need to stop with all the blogging, charting, and community message boards until I'm at least past O. I'm just stressed right now thinking everything is wrong with me, and I'm constantly looking/buying/trying everything to increase my chances of conception. I think I'm actually hurting my chances right now. So I'm going to relax and focus on other things. This should interesting.

The Race to Conceive
I found this article on FitPregnancy and really enjoyed it (especially the last paragraph).

Exercise and Fertility
Susan's working on number two. She's a runner. I've written about this breed before. Just a few weeks ago Kelly, another runner, was having problems with first trimester spotting and despite her dedication to keeping her baby safe, not running was driving her nuts. My husband's a runner too. Personally, I don't have the runner-thing going on but having lived with one for a long time, I get it. They have to run. Like I have to drink coffee and wear mascara; like kids have to play, birds have to twitter and dogs have to chew bones. They have to. They just have to.

Susan's only been trying to conceive for a couple of months but she's worried that running will interfere with her fertility. With all my ranting and raving about exercise and diet, she's probably confused about how much is enough and how much is too much exercise. First of all, let me say how happy I am to hear you're staying fit in preparation for another healthy pregnancy. It's the best thing you can do for yourself. Susan's questions are really twofold: 1) how long should you try to conceive before you get worried and 2) will exercise affect her fertility?

The official word on infertility is this: If you've been trying pretty diligently for a year with no luck; you've been at it for 6 months and you're over 35; or you've had multiple miscarriages, it's time to see a specialist. Two months with no pregnancy? Don't worry about it. Either your timing's a little off or your body's a little off. For whatever reason, most women don't get pregnant as soon as they throw out the birth control.

Now, about that running. Turns out they've done studies and yes, excessive exercise can interfere with getting pregnant. That said, what's excessive for one person isn't excessive for another. One study, published in the Oct. 2006 journal, Obstetrics & Gynecology, pertains specifically to women who are getting infertility treatment. They found that women who exercised four or more hours per week, and had done so for the previous one to nine years, were 40 percent less likely to have a baby after their first In Vitro Fertilization treatment than if they hadn't exercised. Surprisingly, however, women who had followed a rigorous fitness regimen for 10 to 30 years were just as likely to end up with a baby as women who didn't exercise.

So how does that translate to women who aren't seeking infertility treatment but still exercise a lot? It's not entirely clear because every body is so unique. It seems, however, that some women can exercise so much their body protects itself from pregnancy. It's as if the body figures it's already got enough going on and doesn't need any further challenges. There may be hormonal fluctuations that prevent conception or implantation. Some women have so little body fat their hormones levels run haywire and they don't menstruate or ovulate. If there's no ovulation, there's no chance of a baby. Susan says she menstruates regularly and runs between 3 and 10 miles per day. Is that too much? Who knows? My advice would be to keep doing what you're doing for a couple more months and if you're still not pregnant, cut back a little on the running and see what happens. If you're under 35 and still not pregnant in a year, go to your OB/GYN for evaluation.

Susan, you might want to consider a home ovulation predictor kit. It's a pee-on-a-stick thing that picks up Luteinizing hormone which increases at the time of ovulation. It might help you know more specifically when to "do it." Since you've gotten pregnant before, I have little doubt you can do it again. I have a friend who's a yoga instructor, thin as a whip and serious about getting pregnant. She didn't have any luck conceiving while teaching and practicing 3 hours of yoga per day. She cut back the number of workout hours, started eating more and voila, she's pregnant.

I think, sometimes, we just have to wait for the right baby to be ready to come into our life. You might be ready for your baby but maybe your baby needs a little more time getting ready for you. Obviously, that's just my new-age take on it. There's hardly a parent around who wouldn't agree that theirs is the perfect baby for them. Maybe we just have to wait for the right one to come along. Good things take time. Good luck, Susan. I hope you're pregnant soon and enjoy the process.

Saliva Ferning
My sis-in-law loaned me her saliva ferning tester yesterday. I was a little taken back when she handed it to me because I thought it would be this really big machine. It's not. It's the size of a lipstick case.

I'm still a little skeptical that is will work, but she swears by it. I tried it this morning and didn't see any "ferns" so I'll keep tracking it. I think it's going to be a long cycle again so I really shouldn't start to see anything until next week. This is much cheaper than buying 20 to 40 OPK's per cycle. When I start seeing ferns I'll start using the OPK's. Better to have a backup in case the ferning fails ;)

Right now I'm on CD 12 and haven't really noticed any CM (which is strange). The TCOYF software says I'm now in my fertile window so I guess something is about to happen. I'm going to buy some Robitussin and see if it helps. I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil but it doesn't seem to be working. I read online to take 1500-3000 mg and I've only been taking 1300 mg. So yesterday I took two pills, and I'll continue that dosage until I O. I also read about Red Raspberry Leaf tea. It couldn't hurt to try it. So I'm going to get some today.

Vitamin Disaster!
I haven't been feeling my usual chipper self lately and my tummy has NOT been happy with me. I think the Reproductive Factors has something to do with this, so I'm not taking it anymore. Hopefully I start feeling better tomorrow. I have to start training outside for my race this weekend and I need to be more motivated than I am now.

Why is it so easy to make a birth control pill, but not a birth pill? *sighs*

Seeing Soy Everywhere!
I guess out of curiosity (mixed with a little desperation) I pulled apart my pantry yesterday and saw that I'm consuming way too much soy. Kashi bars = soy; Protein bars = soy; Whey protein = soy; Bread = soy; Cereal = soy; Granola = soy; etc. What am I going to eat now? No wonder my cycles are lengthy! I guess I have to start making snacks because fruit just isn't enough.

Ways To Increase Fertility
DH and I aren't really "trying" this month because of my race at the end of October. I'd hate to let my BF down and wimp out on her at the last minute ... HOWEVER, we're still going to keep up the routine of TTC. We're looking at it as another month of practice

I'm focusing on ways to shorten my cycle. Right now it's 45 days! WAY too long!

Supplements I'm Taking for Fertility: Evening Primrose Oil, Vitex, Soy CD1-5, B6, Folic Acid, Prenatal, Female Reproductive Factors (which has Vit A, Vit B6, Vit E, and Zinc)

My sis-in-law is lending me her Saliva Ovulating Tester b/c the strips are costing me a FORTUNE especially since my cycle is really long. I'm having to buy them in bulk :)

I'm trying to get my DH on a Male Fertility Blend but haven't found one he'll take. The Male Reproductive Factors smelled really gross and he refuses to take them.

Workout-wise: I really want to fit back into my old jeans ... so about 2 inches off my hips should do it. When I moved from 15% to 21% BF most of it stuck to my A$$!!! SO, that's really where I need to lose the inches. HA! In the meantime, I'm focusing on not stressing my body because I don't want to lose my cycle again ... unless I get pregnant!

Update: My sis-in-law is preggo but her HGC level was really low (13 the first time they tested her) and 50 today. It's increasing so that's good, but she still isn't out of the woods yet. We're hoping and praying this little bean sticks!

Not My Month
Well AF showed this afternoon. WTF?! UGH! Okay, okay ... I'm okay now.

It's good to know I can have a period on my own without Provera, but my LP was only 6 days! That's not good at all. I'm going to do some research to see how I can extend it. If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears.

I'm also trying to get DH to take some supplements and try to lift lighter in the gym. He's a bodybuilder so it's kinda difficult for him to take a break. I know how he feels.

I guess we'll keep trying. In the meantime, I'm going to start training for the Muddy Buddy in October.

Cramping ... Oh no!
I started cramping last night! I really hope AF doesn't show up. She's due Monday, but I hope she gets lost along the way.

My temp was even more elevated this morning (97.9)! That's a good sign. My chart is showing a steady climb. My BBT software program re-calculated my O date to Friday, September 4th instead of the 3rd. It even calculated a fall-back on 2 DPO. Very interesting. This pushes my HPT to Wednesday (a week from today) ... UGH! I'm just praying AF doesn't show before then. If I make it to Monday and no AF then that's a REALLY good sign! My LP is around 10 days.

So now I'm CD 41 / 5 DPO. That looks like a REALLY long cycle, but my cycles are normally 37 to 45 days. I've been looking at other BBT charts that are long like mine and end in pregnancy ... even though they O around 35 - 40 days. So there is still hope for me :) We just have to have more patience than those who have 28 day cycles.

My DH's b-day is today. I woke up pretty early and snuck out of the house to buy him donuts. He was really surprised! Tonight I'm taking him to dinner. I really wanted to tell him he was going to be a daddy, but I guess that time will come later.

I found some really good workouts to do preconception and in the 1st and 2nd trimester. I'm really just worried about overdoing it. I think if I ease into it I'll be okay. I just have to remember not to put too much stress on my body.

5 DPO: Tick, Tock
DH and I returned home yesterday from a family weekend vacation at the lake. I can't believe how low the lakes are around here. Central Texas is in dire need of water! We had a great time (better than I expected). The condo has 2 bedrooms and there are 7 adults that went so we ended up on the pullout in the living room. Ugh! I HATE sleeping in the living room ... the guys don't go to bed until LATE, the ladies get up EARLY and we get NO sleep. My 3 DPO temp was X'd because I didn't get enough sleep for it to register correctly.

I'm 5 DPO and losing patience. I haven't been sleeping very well because as soon as I start waking up I grab my BBT and check my temp (even if it's 4:30 in the morning!). Then I have to pee because by the time the thermometer finds my temp the sensation has set in. THEN after peeing I'm fully awake because the dogs want out and fed, etc. This morning was one of those mornings! I'm exhausted. My temp this morning was 97.5 ... a little lower than the past few days which were 97.7 ... but I'm still hopeful.

Only a few more days until I test.

TCOYF Confirmed O
Last night I downloaded the "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" application. So far I really like the program. They give you a 15 day free trial and then you can purchase the software for $40 (one time charge ... not monthly/yearly like Fertility Friend). TCOYF confirmed O was CD35 ... Thursday, Sept. 3rd. Yay! We BD'd on CD 31, 33, 35! My temp shot up this morning (97.7!). I'm 2 DPO so I'll test on Sept. 15th. EEK! I'm really excited! I'm having all kinds of symptoms I haven't felt in 6 months (last natural cycle was March 17th): tender breasts, bloating, cramps, tender nipples, moody, hungry all the time ... it's weird I'm actually excited I'm having all these symptoms. To me, it means my hormones have finally leveled out and I may have a chance at concieving this time! I'm planning to take it easy in the gym until after I test on the 15th.

We're spending this Labor Day weekend at the lake with the in-laws. My sis-in-law had an IVF on Wednesday so she's going to be taking it easy too. No one knows but me (and whoever reads this) so this shall be interesting. It would be pretty wild if we became pregnant together at the same time. Now I have to go pack and round up the dogs!

Saturday - CD37 2DPO
My fingers are crossed and I'm praying like crazy that this is our month!

2WW - Now or Later
My body is slowly starting to respond to my relaxed workout schedule. I think I've taken most of the stress off my body. Yesterday I started cramping, my CM was milky white and wet (not slippery though), and my cervix was slightly opened (compared to the other times I've checked). I even checked my temp last night before I went to bed and it was 97.7! I know the morning temp is the one to count BUT it was a great sign my temp is climbing. Usually at night it's around 97.0. My morning temps have been 97.3 or lower ... so I've been waiting for 97.4 + for a definite temp shift. I thought this morning I would get it, but NO (97.3!). Ugh! It still might be a good sign, but I'm not too sure so I've decided not to think about it. I'm now on day 35 and counting 1 DPO so I'll take a PT a week from Saturday (my lutal phase is usually 10 days). If AF doesn't come and I get a BFN I'll wait it out until October and if nothing has happened then I'll go back to the doc. I'll take it easy until then.

I'm scheduled to run/bike in the Muddy Buddy this fall with my best friend SO not being pregnant wouldn't be a bad thing. If I get a BFN then we're going to take a break and try again in November. It'll probably happen during our break. Life is funny that way.

Current Workout Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday - walk 30 min (2 miles); light weights 30 min
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday - walk 30 min (2 miles)
Keeping HR 120-130

Changing it up
Lately, I've been feeling a little "out of whack." I'm pretty sure this has to do with a hormonal imbalance. One minute I'm happy-go-lucky and the next I'm either mega-bitchy OR an emotional wreck. My poor DH. I'm not sure how much more he can stand. I really don't think guys get it sometimes.

Well, I'm on CD20-something and no positive OPK or rise in temp yet. I'm patiently waiting for something to happen, but I'm not holding my breath. I took soy this time and noticed a HUGE difference in my CM, but nothing more. Maybe I'll be surprised. I'm thinking about going to an acupuncturist. It's a little pricey because it's not covered in my insurance, but I guess it's cheaper than getting infertility work done (which is also NOT covered).

I know this is REALLY bad, but sometimes I wonder if I'd be a good mom AND how much my life will change AND if I'm ready for that change AND how much my DH will help me AND if it will strain our marriage. I know ... I shouldn't think about things like that, but it's hard not to.

New Workout Plan:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday - walk 30 min; yoga 1 hour
Tuesday - walk 30 min, lower body with light weights
Thursday - walk 30 min, upper body with light weights
Saturday - walk 45 min

"I think it's really natural to question those things at this stage. I just got off my bc, and I'm still questioning my decision. While I want a baby, I question if I'm ready, if I'll be a good mom....just like you. So don't feel bad for having doubts, I'm sure there are many having the same ones!" -- CASSANDRANNE

New Fur Baby - Bella
Bella is the newest addition to our family. She is mostly lab (maybe mixed with something ... dunno.) Her and her litter were abandoned in the country, and when we found out about them we couldn't resist saying no. I'm surprised we didn't come home with all the puppies! Our 2 year old German Shepherd Mix picked her out of the litter :) It was really cute!

Bella's first night in the crate was rough. My DH and I forgot how hard it is to crate train and deal with a puppy. They may be cute, but they're also a TON of work! Very similar to a baby. We joke about how Bella is practice to when we finally have babies. She does take my mind off having babies for now. We're still TTC, but I'm not crazy obsessed about it. I may have to rely on CM and OPK this month because Bella's late night potty breaks are cutting into my 3 hour minimum for BBT (if that makes any sense). Lamens terms: I'm not getting 3 hours of continuous sleep.

A HUGE Disappointment
My husband convinced me to go and get my blood drawn. Hey, it couldn't hurt ... right? WRONG! Not only did it hurt, but they didn't get any blood. I took it as a sign. Looks like we're flying blind this month.

We're taking a vacation to the coast in a few weeks. Maybe .... ;)

Undecided
I went a whole week without having baby on the brain *giving a BIG pat on the back* GOOD FOR ME!

AF showed up last night. It was Provera induced, but HEY, I'll take it. Today I feel like I'm at the crossroads:

~To the left: I go and get blood drawn tomorrow and face months of doctors, tests, meds, etc.
OR
~To the right: I leave it to Mother Nature and hope I ovulate this next month.

What to do?

I guess I have until 5pm today to decide.

Not Sending Up the White Flag Yet
BUT I'm not planning/trying anymore. I think I got a little crazy this past month and had baby on the brain too much. I lost focus on life and the things that I love the most.

I've been torn for a few months now on my workouts and my physique. Part of me was trying to add weight and fat for baby and the other part of me wanted the muscle and lower body fat. I thought I had to change everything to conceive, but I don't think so anymore. I enjoy being an athlete and I see mom's who are athletes everyday. I shouldn't have to give up being healthy and strong.

I had an epiphany Friday (after sulking all day): I decided NOT to think about baby anymore. I decided to focus on my DH, my gym, my clients, my physique, my family and friends AND enjoy the moments I have now (without baby) so when/if baby comes I won't look back and say I wasted (however long) planning/preparing for the unknown. I'm a planner/control freak by heart. I knew about my engagement BEFORE he asked me, I had control over the wedding, house, gym, etc. THIS is just something I have to let go and LET GOD. I know it's bound to happen. They say you have an 85% chance of getting pregnant in the first year of unprotected sex. I think those odds are pretty good. Now I just have to practice patience and have faith God will provide.

Doesn't Look Good
I checked my cervix this morning ... low, hard, and open. AF is just around the corner. Oh well.

In light of this disappointment, there are a few things that I'm grateful for ...
1. I had a cycle (after 3 months)
2. I was able to educate myself.
3. Not having to worry about taking prescribed meds to kick my sinus infection and bronchitis.
4. Getting hormone testing done this next cycle.

Better luck next time ...

A Day Full of Doctors
I went to the doc yesterday morning. Turns out I have severe allergies, sinus infection and bronchitis. Nice ...

Later that day I went to the OBGYN. They made me take a pregnancy test - negative. If I predicted correctly I was only 9dpo so MAYBE I am and it's too early to test. Next week I'll test again (if AF doesn't show up). If it's still negative I have to take Provera (again) to jump start my cycle. This time they're going to test my hormone levels and such.

I'm still experiencing pressure "down there" and LOADS of CM. Weird ...

Reality Check
This morning my temp stayed the same 96.9 which I think is too low for an egg to attach and start growing. I started cramping last night into today ... again, this is a new symptom.

I've been doing a lot of research on pregnancy symptoms and none on PMS symptoms so this morning I decided to see what they included. Hmm ... looks like they're pretty much identical.

Mood Swings - check
Fatigue - check
Nauseous - check
Cramping - check
Bloating - check
Weight Gain - check
Sore Throat (this morning) - check
Heart Pounding (during workouts ... more than usual) - check

SO I just have to wait and see. Since I haven't had a natural period since March, all these new symptoms may just be my body's way of jump starting my system. If AF shows next week I wouldn't be surprised. In a way I would be sort of happy ... just means the system is working again. I may go back to the doc and talk to her about my cycle: the low temps, the length, the luteal phase length (only 10 days from past recordings), etc. For now, I'm just going to keep occupied for the next 5 days :)

Who's Rockin' the Boat?
I'm 4DPO and for the past 3 days (today included) I've been extremely nauseous. This is a new symptom for me. I know it's too early to tell anything, but I just thought I would jot this down for future reference.

I also had a dip in my temp this morning: 97.7 to 96.9. Hoping it goes back up tomorrow. Again, it's too early to tell and to get an implantation dip ... but here's hoping!

Unexplained Weight Gain
I don't know why but I've been extremely unmotivated in the gym lately. I finally got on the scale this weekend and GOODNESS I weigh a TON! I weigh more than I've ever weighed before. It's really weird too. I lift weights 4 to 5 times a week and do cardio (up to 24 miles per week). I'm not sure what's going on.

I talked to my husband this morning about it. I told him that my resting BBT is around 96.6 degrees before O. That's really LOW. Before I started training for fitness competitions it was in the 97's. I read online that it could be a thyroid problem. This may have something to do with my weight, long cycles (36 to 45 days!), and low BBT.

I'm also looking really bloated today. I mean REALLY bloated! My hubby commented that I look pregnant, and my breasts are fuller. I know it's too soon to tell if I am, but MAN I hope I find the cause soon because its driving me nuts! My luteal phase usually makes me feel fat, irratable, and sore but I feel pregnant and full.

Finally ... the BIG O!
Okay, so it took a little while longer than expected. It seems I finally ovulated 36 days into my cycle. Talk about patience! So, I guess we wait and see what happens. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it's hard not to. Through past experience, the last stage is usually 10 days before AF. I'm planning to take my first test July 25th (if my temp doesn't drop and AF doesn't arrive before then). *BIG sigh*

Here we go ...

Getting Close to Our 1st Try
My ovulation should take place any day now through next weekend. Since I haven't had a normal cycle in awhile I can't pinpoint the exact time so I'm making lots of observations and taking an ovulation test daily. The line is starting to get darker, but its not darker than the 'control' line yet. I'm tracking my observations through NFP and charting my temp, mucus and cervix opening. I'm trying to keep the romance alive, but its hard when I'm so focused on 'baby making' and not 'love making.' I'm pretty sure my hubby isn't complaining though. Ha! More updates to come ...

1st Attempt at Baby Making
After my fitness competition May 16th I was 13% BF and hadn't had a period in 4 months. It was kind hard to have a baby in this condition. So I went to the doc at the beginning of June to see what I could do to get my system going again. She gave my progesterone to get my period started. All went well and now we're just waiting for 'our window of opportunity.' My husband and I practice NFP (Natural Family Planning) so we are pretty educated in how the process works. The process allows me to track my progress and see if I'm ovulating. IF all goes well, I should ovulate sometime next week June 21-28. A few things I've changed in the past few weeks: I've increased my calorie intake, lessened the weights I'm lifting, and decreased my cardio. I sure hope this works! My obgyn said that I have an easier problem to fix than most women who are having trouble ovulating. Meaning: I just need to eat more and exercise less. However, I don't think she's right. It really is difficult for me to pack on the pounds and not feel guilty about it. I decided not to burden my family with my emotional BS ... they don't really care 'how' the baby is conceived ... they just want to know 'when.' Thank goodness for blogs!
