This week our baby is the same size as a lime; somewhere between 1.5-2.4 inches at this point, which also makes Sprouty the same size as:
One green tree frog.
I dont know why but somehow this makes it more real. Things that are ALIVE are this size- alive and that DO THINGS. Kind of like the things that Sprout can do now such as:
Feel with their hands (and has non-webbed fingers!)
Move their limbs- aka wave and kick!
Grow fingernails (I don't think limes or tree frogs can to that, so score one for Sprout).
Swallow!
This is getting serious people.
I am hoping that things will be getting better at this point re the whole morning sickness misery. I have started having some changes with my eating that I take as a good sign- such as not wanting to vomit at the sight of ALL veggies, drinking tea again (why didn't I like TEA?! I love tea!), it is decaf before you start screaming that I am murdering my lime-frog-baby.
Also I have a little bump. It feels MUCH more huge to me than it looks in this picture. This picture just makes me look fat, now that I think about it. But my hair looks nice!

Today I am officially four weeks pregnant. That means Silk Sprout has been alive, making itself quite comfortable in my belly, for the last 2 weeks. Sprout gets the official title of "embryo"; a very notable achievement!
How am I doing? Fine! Not too many symptoms so far but here are the few that made the list:
Cramps:Well, really light- almost more like just pressure or a squeezy feeling. These have been very on-again and off-again.
Super Powers: Just one, my incredible sense of smell. Yesterday I went for a walk in the park during lunch, and could smell french fries as if someone was eating them right next to me. I looked around, but the culpable McDonald's bag was at least a block away!
Giant Boobs: Are they really going to get bigger? There is already a very noticeable change! Sawyer ate my best bra a few days ago so I have been wearing sports bras every day. I may just keep doing this forever!
Queasiness: As of yesterday I would have said I hadn't had any "morning" sickness, but after eating lunch I felt ill for about 2 hours. Not throwing up ill, just feeling yucky. So much for being one of the lucky 25% that never gets nauseous.
Fatigue: Not too bad yet, but noticeably sleepy by the end of the work day (or was I always that way?)

My husband and I could not have been more excited to find out we are expecting. I am 4 weeks pregnant (as of tomorrow) and confirmed with a blood test at the doctor's yesterday. We are not letting work or many of our friends know until our first doctors apt (at 12 weeks) but I figure I can let all my spark friends know!
About 9 days past ovulation I took an early pregnancy test, I thought I saw a tiny tiny SUPER faint line, and I asked my husband about it. After waiting about 5 minutes that line was completely gone, my husband said defiantly NO line! We weren't even trying this month, because we were going to wait until july, on our one year anniversary.
The next day, on the 10th I took another test, hey, I thought I saw a line yesterday, so I thought I should see... but nothing, zip, nadda, not even a faint line. I cried for about 30 minutes because I am officially a crazy person at this point. I was completely convinced I was pregnant. I went on a 5 mile run that day to clear my head.
Well the light squeezy cramps werent going away and my sense of smell was starting to border on super-hero abilities so on 12 days past ovulation I took another cheap-o test. There was no question about it, a SECOND LINE!
I stood there with my jaw open for a second before I went over to where Kyle (the husband) was getting ready, "Um...honey" I say "I think there is a second line, do you see a line?!?!" well, I had pulled this on him a few days ago so he figures, here I go again with my crazy wife who always thinks she is pregnant. But he looks at the test, he looks at me, he looks at the test, and then he grabs it out of my hand.... "Um... YES! There IS a second line, GO TAKE ANOTHER TEST" so I do... and this time it is one of the early response ones... major, super dark line, right away... so I take another one...then I make an appointment for a blood test... all positive!

"Those first few moments of realization are just awesome, huh? So happy for you two!" -- AUSTINJANE
It is called Origins and it is all about impact on the fetus during pregancy of, well, just about everything, from the mothers health, to environmental factors. So I picked up a copy at the library. It was SOOOO interesting, I seriously could NOT put it down, and read the WHOLE book in one evening. I really recommend it (at least listen to the pod cast link above). You can see more about the book on this link to the amazon page:
