I may be small, but I'm already a cute Muffin Top!
I am Max Borris Zweibel. I have a story like no other. Miracles of medical science got me into Mommy, got me out and got me growing. I entered this world after only 26 weeks, 2 days of gestation, but I was really only in Mommy for 24.5 weeks.
On a Monday night in May 2008, Mommy went to the hospital. They told her it was normal pre-term contractions and to see her OB the next day. Mommy did. Her BP was very high and she had lots of swelling. Her doctor realized she had pre-eclampsia and told her to get to the hospital quickly. Mommy was admitted and her symptoms got worse. They moved her to Labor & Delivery just in case. The great nurses watched Mommy closely and did lots of tests all night. They all wanted to keep me inside longer, but I gotta tell you, I wanted out!
On Thursday, the symptoms got even worse. PopPop & Grandma Luci headed out from Myrtle Beach. Grammy Caroline caught the next plane out of Minneapolis. By evening, doctors advised Mommy and Daddy the only way to save us was to get me out now! They squeezed Daddy into a funny white suit and Mommy got a haircut. On May 15th, 2008, at 9:42 pm EDT, I was born via emergency C-Section. I was a mighty one pound and 6.4 ounces. I looked small, but packed a punch. I was 12.5 inches long. I had long legs, long arms, blond hair and everything else in the right places, if you know what I mean, ladies! They showed me to Mommy and brought me right up to the NICU. That is where I am bulking up and getting ready to come home.
Wow, what a great story, right!? It gets even better. It really started 14 years before they yanked my little tuchas out of Mommy. In May 1994, Mommy got very sick and went to the hospital. Mommy had two huge ovarian tumors totaling 35 pounds. The doctor had to remove the tumors and Mommy's ovaries but he was able to save her uterus- that's where I lived for a little while as you may have figured out. He told Mommy, PopPop and Grandma Lu about a new procedure called IVF. The next part of the story gets a little boring, as I am not involved. Let's just say boy meets girl in 2003, loses car on first date, yadda, yadda, yadda they get married a year later. They leave the DC area and move to Tampa in 2005 to be closer to Mommy's favorite mouse. They started visiting a great reproductive medicine specialist in Brandon, FL. They were put on a list to receive anonymous donor eggs and in July 2007 a donor was found.
Moving right along, after a month of hormone shots daily in Mommy's tush, the end of November came and so did Daddy. A talented embryologist made about a dozen embryos. I was special even then! I did the best of all of them and the doctor decided I was ready to go into Mommy. The procedure worked and I settled in. I started growing and making Mommy puke all the time. You know the rest.
You see I am a little miracle. I'm telling this story after a week of even more miracles. Stick around, I will continue to amaze you! That is why they call me MIGHTY MAX!
Congratulations on having all of your family under one roof now! My little pickle says if Max is still having trouble with the green stuff, then she can give him some pointers - I have never seen so much stuff come out of someone so small!
