After I had my son I did a lot of Kathy Smith videos. That was eight years ago, so I'm sure they are outdated now. Some other ones that I like are Fat Eliminator by Minna Lessing and Core Pilates by Karen Voight.

LOVE2BFIT: http://www.collagevideo.com/ is a great site. Thanks for the tip! I'm also due in May, so don't have much to add on the postnatal workout front, but has anybody here tried the Perfect Postnatal Workout? (http://www.progressiveparent.com/ )I've got the Perfect Pregnancy Workout now, and I love it--the instructor is amazing. After not doing much more than walking and the minimum babyfit exercises for a couple of months (plain old first trimester exhaustion), that DVD has me finally challenging myself again. I was wondering if the follow-up is as good. I guess I have a few months yet to find out.

Walk away the lbs you do not need a treadmill. With my video I got a stretchy band with it but in another video she used weights. I love it! I have been doing the 3 mile video and it makes me feel so much better to be moving and toning my arms! I will be 22 weeks this thursday and I have noticed a huge change in my energy level since doing the video. It was also how I lost all of my baby weight with my daughter! My dh said that my body looked better after having the baby. I never really worked out b4 being pg so it made a big difference in firming and toning! I would highly recommend it, also you don't have to be coordinated to do the video which is what I love!

Mamita, no treadmill required! Esther, you are an inspiration! Fourth child and already fitting into your old clothing. I am looking forward to when I can get a good sweat back into my routine. These days I get winded easily and my heart rate jumps up before I'm ready. Granted when I teach I talk throughout the workout which increases your heart rate to begin with. I figure it's my body's way of making sure of protecting the baby. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

How does Walk Away the Pounds work? Do you have to have a treadmill?

Yes, My name is Esther. I fit cardio in 4-5 days a week and I either walk (weather and babysitting permitting) or do the elliptical for 45 min. - 1 hour. I am 9 weeks PP and my OB wanted me to wait on weight lifting until 8 weeks PP so I have only done it 3 times since Ian was born. I did 30 - 45 minutes of cardio 4 days a week most of my Pregnancy and I kept my weight lifting up until week 32, so it hasn't been that hard to get back into it. I am back in most of my old clothes, my abs are preventing that last pair of skinny jeans. This was my fourth child.
Attempting to explain the gift of FAITH to someone who has not been touched by God is like attempting to describe the world's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon to someone who does not have the gift of sight, the gift of smell, or the gift of taste. They might, on some level, acknowledge the possibility of its existence, but they will never be able to fully acknowledge, comprehend, or accept its truth in all its complexity.

Questher (is your name Esther?) Of course you can keep asking questions. It wouldn't help me to keep all the information I know inside and not share it. Core Secrets can compliment any workout. You will need free weights to do it at home so it is a slight twist on weight lifting. What it might teach you are they ways to engage your core while you are in the gym weight lifting. No reason not to strengthen that at the same time! And BTW, I'm 35 so age isn't a factor. I'm pregnant with my 1st child and I'm almost at 12 weeks. This was my first full week back to work, albeit a bit weak. I work five days a week which covers 5 hours of cardio (two of them I walk around alot to teach more than do) and a 6th hour of cardio that I coach. In addition I do two interval classes (cardio v strength in 5 min intervals) and one full strength class. My schedule is mapped out pretty well not to overdo one thing or the other. I doubt my abilities to do much as I progess but I will try. Overkill would only come if you were doing too much without resting in between. With the cards that come with CS you will have the ability to focus on the things without weights on alternate days. Whaddaya think? PS people keep telling me I'll get back into my old shape in no time... now i'll pass that comment onto you...

Questher, All the DVDs demonstrate the workouts. You can always follow it along. In addition the system comes with flash cards with a beginner/intermediate workout and an advanced workout. The best part about the cards is that you can mix & match the exercises & do them on your own. I've stolen plenty of the exercises and used them in my classes. I always give the credit where it is due (how does he come up with these things?) and mention Core Secrets. But my members don't care who created it. They just love to do it. The lunges are killer. If you do all the exercises correctly you should feel your core with each repetition of each set of each movement. It's entirely different than Pilates (which I also teach) but it has the same great core results. I feel like the Queen of workout videos and I hate to workout at home. The best place to find videos is at www.collagevideo.com. They don't have everythng but they do have a wide selection. I would also recommend the IM=X Pilates videos (not on DVD yet) which use the body bar and the fitness ring. You can buy them on IMXPilates.com. I'm certified in this method and use it on all my clients. It's a different much more challenging Pilates style that makes alot of sense. Bonus, the videos are only a half hour long for those who don't have a lot of time. Comet, I have the Sansone videos and I've never done them but I love your story. I hope that if I have a daughter she'll say the same thing to me :). Cheers.

I love "Walk away the pounds" there are different videos that you can buy depending on how far you want to walk. I have the 4 mile and it is a little tough but a great workout! It was the only thing that I stuck to after my daughter was born! Now she is 3 and will say "mommy, lets walk power walk". LOL I am 21 weeks pg and do the 2 miles everyday. Once I have the baby I will start working my way back up to the 4 mile. The thing I like is that you really tone your arms too! You can find great deals on ebay.

By the way, Core Secrets happens to be some of the best DVDs on the market. The system is being sold very cheap which includes the resistaball and two DVDs. The four other videos are extra. Gunnar Petersen is the best in the business. He's created a system for working out the entire body while focusing completely on the core. Check out the website www.coresecrets.com. The Ball & 2 DVDs are only $10.00!! Cheers, Anne

Lare Hi, I've been a certified instructor for seven years. I absolutely love my job & find it very rewarding. Besides, they pay me to workout, how about that for motivation? There are several certifying bodies nationwide. The easiest is AFAA - American Fitness & Aerobics Association. There is also ACE - American Council on Exercise. These two are the most commonly used for Group Exercise Instruction. You can find out more information at www.afaa.com and www.ace.com. The price is usually about $300 for the cert excluding the textbooks and workshops. Anybody can learn to teach it just takes practice. If you are good with music (finding the downbeat can be taught) it'll be even easier for you. It takes practice to learn how to cue moves at the right time (you dont know how challenging this is until you try) so don't get discouraged or be afraid to do it. If you currently take classes start to pay attention to the instructor's cuing skills and her phrasing of combinations. It's even easier to follow these things on a home video. Especially beginner videos. They are a great teaching skill. If you'd like (or anyone else) to discuss this further feel free to contact me at FundamentalFitness@msn.com. Good luck!!

I really like the Tae Bo Boot Camp DVDs. I think any of his workouts are good though. They really get you a good workout and hit alot of the problem areas!

NO!! That's the great part of it, you do it in your family/whatever room and you rarely need more than 2-3 feet on either side of you. And you can modify if there's little room to move, and still get an awsome, sweating workout. It is the best!!!

Hope you don't mind me joining in the discussion... I really like the FIRM videos. I've just had to go down a bit on the weight, but am still getting a great workout. The Billy Blanks boot camp videos are really good too. I find the body bands really make a difference, especially with the upper body workout.

I love the FIRM but my favorite is Walk Away the Pounds. She has one out now that I can't wait to get back to, it is the Walk/Jog. You do a mix of walking and light jogging. I was trying to switch between the 3 mile and the walk/jog on opposite days. In the Walk/Jog you do about 2 1/2 miles in 30 minutes, which gets you moving. I can't wait to get back to it, as I am on limited movement right now.

I also have Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone. As soon as I am released I am going to go back to doing the 3 mile walk every day. I just love doing it, not so much for working out but because it's fun. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish to do the 3 miles. I am considering investing in the Billy Blank's Boot Camp videos now, they look like they are tons of fun, I used to do his tae-bo and had a blast. :)

I keep posting this in various places, but I love Cindy Crawford's A New Dimension. She teamed up with trainer Kathy Kaehler who gained (and lost) 80 pounds with her twins. I know Cindy took some heat for her unsafe workout videos with Radu, but this one got excellent reviews. The video is designed for post-pregnancy, but I have done it during both pregnancies (slighting modifying exercises on my back) with excellent results.

I love Walk Away the Pounds. Leslie Sansone has a 12 minute mile, which goes by in a snap. Will likes to do them with me and DH too. It's fun. I also like doing the FIRM videos, when I have time. The advantage of Walk Away the Pounds is they don't need as much equipment as the other videos do.

Okay, I have Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease Volume 1 and it is a really fun workout. I love Carmen Electra, and she has an amazing body-which is a big motivator to do the video lol! It's really just a "dance warm-up" and then 2 cute dances. Nothing too risque but still fun and you do a little booty shaking haha :) I really enjoy it and it definitely gets you sweating! It's very much step by step too. I also have the Core Secrets 20 minute workout and an introductory DVD and I like it too. It really works you out. (It's with a stability ball) CE is my fave! :) Lauren
