"Due to foot surgery almost 3 years ago I have developed swelling almost on a daily basis, my doctor gave me custom fit compression socks, I use them too on my feet because of swelling from pregnancy, they help out so much my husband has noticed a great difference. They are expensive if you were to buy them on your own. however I think they are worth it, you can purchase them at a pharmacy make sure that you have an associate help you, because you have to be measured to make sure they are the right fit... Good luck!!" -- HARDING.TARA - 1/22/2011 8:39:41 PM

"I'm 32 weeks today and I've had swelling in my ankles and feet since about 26 weeks. The things that have worked best for me have been walking around for a bit and stretching, then sitting down and propping up my feet and back to walking again, to keep the circulation going. At night I try to lay down as much as possible. My husband is great at massaging my feet--so see if yours will do that as well! Putting ice on them at night is also great. I've really limited my salt intake and I've seen a difference that way as well. I'm going to try the lemon starting tomorrow!" -- RBROWN0401 - 5/24/2010 11:05:23 AM

"To those who have not experienced any swelling, count your blessings! :) I am at 32 weeks but have been dealing with mild swelling for a couple of months now. I was hoping it had a lot to do with the Florida humidity! I was told to replace our regular table salt with sea salt. We did this and not only is it healthier, it has helped with the swelling. I think I will try the lemon also. Thanks!" -- LSKI22 - 11/25/2009 2:47:23 PM

"Thank you for the advice about the lemon! I don't particularly enjoy lemon in my water, but I'm willing to try. The one thing I can't stand is having to take off my wedding band, but drinking lemon in my water is a small price to pay for that small bit of security that I really want to wear! Last time we didn't have money for a "pregnancy ring" for me to replace my wedding band with . . . maybe this time we will. Thanks!" -- FINALLYAMOMMY - 7/23/2009 9:51:12 AM

"I am just now at 32 weeks, and I also add lemon to maybe one or two bottles of water, however reducing my sodium intake has helped as well! I stay active which also helps, and try in the evenings to keep my feel elevated. I even sleep with a pillow under my feet which seems to have prevented any swelling!" -- SBRUSH - 7/5/2009 2:23:08 PM

"I am 32 weeks today and have minor swelling at times. It was recommended by the nurses at my dr's office that I add lime or lemon to my many bottles of water I drink every day. It has completely taken away any swelling I have had. I think the nurses know best most of the time. lol" -- LATEANGEL1 - 5/20/2009 1:24:16 PM

"I was extremely swollen for my last pregnancy. I found that simply walking really helped whisk away the extra water retention... it was always amazing to me how my tennis shoes barely fit before walking, and just 30 minutes later, my feet looked normal! I also kept tabs on how much ham I ate and kept pushing the water intake. This time around, I'm at 32 weeks and no swelling yet! That is SO exciting to me!!!" -- KASPIELBAUER - 5/15/2009 12:36:57 AM

"I'm in week 29. My hands and feet have been swelling for weeks now. Drinking more water a day has helped. I also had to get bigger shoes. I am still working 10 hours a day so I'm sure that doesn't help. The doctor said there wasn't much I could do. I was told to buy support hose to wear to work, but they are not the most comfortable thing." -- YG0824 - 3/8/2009 11:54:48 PM

"I am at 32 weeks and (so far) no swelling. 1500 mg daily of Calcium eliminated my leg/knee aches, and a banana (natural potassium in lieu of water-retaining sodium) a day has helped the calcium absorption. Hope this helps!" -- MARYANNMAHLEN - 2/14/2009 8:42:24 PM

"i'm almost 25weeks in my pregnancy. my hands are fine at the moment. it is my knees, ankles and feet that i'm having problems with. i can't stand up for 2mins anymore without throbbing pain in knees and ankles. to make it even better i have a very active 3.5yr old son who continually wants mummy to chase him and play. i hate it sometimes as can't be the parent i want to be and have that fun time with my son. he still gets the attention etc but not so much running around playing football or games that involve outside activity" -- MOTHER09 - 1/24/2009 1:44:42 AM
