"You can get a better body than before you were pregnant if you work for it. The problem turns out to be complacency. If you are complacent with your weight gain, your "pooch", or decreased muscle tone - yes, that is your new body and there is nothing that you will do about it. However, this doesn't have to be the case. It takes time and discomfort in the form of diet and exercise (aerobic and strength training like above - you have to burn more than you consume). Most people just say, "I'm a mom - that's the way a mom's body is." or "I don't have time." Work for it and you will see a difference." -- FIREKATEFIRE - 8/10/2010 8:18:47 AM

"I don't know why some people say you can't lose the pooch completely. I gained 50 lbs with my child and I lost all of it and have a six pack of abs...as far as I can tell there is no pooch. You just have to actually work out and want to have that." -- BOHEMIANBABY - 4/29/2010 11:00:01 AM

"I need all the mommies to remember that no amount of Abdominal exercise will totally get rid of the pooch! For most ladies the pooch is fat and stretched out skin. Granted, you still need to do abdominal exercise to strengthen your core, protect your back, etc but the pooch may never totally go away. Eat right and exercise to decrease the amount of extra fat you are carrying and learn to live with your new body. You had a baby! Its just not realistic to expect your body will go back to exactly the way it was before you carried a new person in your body for 9 months. Unless of course you are going to pay for a tummy tuck." -- ACPATTS1 - 4/25/2010 10:02:21 AM

"Thanks for adding the pictures - the descriptions are very good but visual aids help a lot! These seem so easy but just after a baby they are great for "starting over" with ab exercises." -- KNIGHTDELONG7 - 4/8/2009 1:47:51 PM
