"My husband and I are currently expecting our very first child. I'm very excited but am already losing valuable time. This author made some excellent points and really grasps what it's like to be a busy parent. My child isn't even here yet, but between both my husband and I owning and running our own businesses, building our first house, and spending important quality time with our family, doctor appointments, and classes to learn to be a parent, exercise really must be squeezed in. Thanks for the wonderful tips, your truly a body saver!" -- QUEENSARAH - 1/4/2006 11:41:33 PM
"I feel that this author is suggesting that I prolong my chores in order to exercise. As an actual mother, I don't find that suggestion very practical.

As a SAHM who homeschools, I make time during our day for schoolwork, chores and exercise. Instead of spending more time doing work and missing the opportunity for healthy play, my children help me with our chores and then we either play together or my children are capable of entertaining themselves in the backyard or riding their bikes. (Of course, I'm outside with them, because I'm paranoid they'll hurt themselves.)

If you teach your children to behave, it's not really a problem to get them to do their homework. My children know the consequences of disobeying me, and most of the time, they'd rather not deal with them.

For me, after bedtime is my prime time to get some exercise and a little 'me' time in. That's why you set age-appropriate bedtimes for your kids, so you don't have to stay up until 2:00 am. I work out on my treadmill and read at the same time. I don't really feel like every moment of my day is taken up with motherhood, although it is one of the central focuses of my life right now.

Also, the author was living the life of a single mom, which is something I'm entirely unfamiliar with. I have my husband to help me out in the evenings, and I'm very grateful for the help! I know that very few women choose to live life as single moms, but many end up doing it. I am clueless about all that stuff, lol." -- KENSBEV - 12/16/2005 7:33:30 PM
