I read that you should not eat nuts during pregnancy because so many babies/children are allergic to them. Is this true? |

Whether eating nuts during pregnancy increases the risk for allergies in the infant is still up for debate. Most physicians feel it is OK to eat nuts if neither you nor the baby's father have allergies to peanuts, nuts, and seeds. The same is true for eating them during breastfeeding. I do suggest you discuss this with your physician, especially if you have peanut, nut, or seed allergies in the family. Becky Hand Licenced Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian |
