Can I drink caffeinated coffee during my pregnancy? |
![]() |
Caffeine quickly passes through the placenta to the baby. The Food and Drug Administration and most health organizations recommend that pregnant women should discontinue or at least cut down on caffeine. It’s better for your body and your baby if you drink water, milk and fruit juice during your pregnancy. A reasonable guideline for daily intake of caffeine is no more that 300 milligrams per day or 2 to 2-1/2 standard 8-ounce cups. The amount of caffeine in coffee depends on the beans used, the serving size and how the coffee is prepared. You also want to be mindful of additional caffeine sources in your diet that also.
