I forgot all about Sweet Child of Mine - I love that one too.

And Sweet Baby James is a good one to sing.

You all have good ones! And I think its sweet to sing, even if you don't think you can carry a tune.

Does anybody else have the same reaction to Baby mine from Dumbo? I never liked Dumbo the movie because it always made me so sad, even when I was little. Lyrics:

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine

Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine

If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you

From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

In choir we're singing "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" and I'm a soprano. It has LOADS of high notes sung fortissimo (very loud) and the baby almost always wakes up and moves around.

Obviously the baby hears the choir songs most, but I also sing around the house, and with the radio. I'm a singer. I used to sing with a professional (nothing amazing or famous, but we get paid!) group, but I have to take a year off, because I wouldn't fit in the costume, and the performances are every weekend in August & September. *sigh*

I plan on singing a LOT and taking baby to choir with me, whenever I can.

When simpleness and duty tender it."

I sing Amazing Grace, mostly because it is the only song that does not come out completely off-tune. I try to sing along to country on the radio, but I am afraid I am just ruining the songs for him. HA!!

I have such a terrible voice I'm sure my baby would prefer me to abstain from singing to him. I do find myself singing "Sweet Baby James" by James Taylor lately. This moring I was singing "Somebody To Love" by Queen but that's only because I watched American Idol last night and can't get it out of my head. I usually just play music for him...I read on-line that babies like classical music and they mentioned that they respond well to Vivaldi's Seasons. We just happen to have the CD as I walked down the aisle to "Winter" when my husband and I got married. So far I haven't really noticed any increased movement when I play Vivaldi.

My dh and I were asking our moms for advice on this one. I don't really know any relaxing baby songs. If I am singing for our baby it is usually something along the lines of Enya ~ the closest thing I know to lullabies

What songs do you sing to your baby?

I've been singing "Baby Mine" from Dumbo (although it always makes me cry a little), and "First Day of my Life" by Bright Eyes.

Other ones I like:
-"God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys
-parts that I can remember of "In My Life" by the Beatles
-"Pink Moon" by Nick Drake
-"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You"

I want more ideas. What are you singing?
