yes, we are definately not keeping them. Because they carry salmonells, I don't want to keep them. I hate having to worry about the kids trying to touch them all the time but right now, dd is loving watching them all the time.

That's neat! Are you going to let them go?

We seen the mother turtles laying the eggs so dh marked the eggs. She dug a hole and layed the egg in the hole. We could not see where the eggs were but because he marked them, we know where they are. They are cute.

I will take a picture for you Hailey.

We had 4 snapping turtles come in our yard and layed eggs. My dh went on the internet and did some research and found out it takes 50 to 60 days for the eggs to hatch. He marked where the 4 turtles layed the eggs and nothing. Tuesday my dd noticed a baby turtle in the driveway and was worried she ran over it with her Barbie powerwheel. She didn't run it over and ran to tell dh. He grabbed a bucket and collected it and we checked for the turtles. We noticed a small hole and all the turtles were gone on the first one and the second one was just starting to make their way out. The great thing about the babies is that they do not bite for the first 4 years. My dd watched them dig the hole out and come out one by one. My dh put all 39 turtles in a big aquaruim that we have in the garage and keeping them for a few weeks. We have 2 in the backyard that we are keeping our eyes on because they should be hatching any day now. It was the cutest thing watching Larsyn and Christopher with the turtles. They are under strict orders not to be touching them since they carry salmonella and I am not risking it with them. Whenever they go into the garage to look at them, dh or I is there the whole time.
