1. What breed and or size is/are your dog(s).
We have a Chocolate Lab mix named Casey

2. Did you have your dog(s) before your kids or vise-versa?
We adopted Casey when my DD was 3yrs old

3. Was your dog a puppy when you got him/her?
He was 6mos old when we adopted him from the Humane Society
4. How does your dog like your kid(s)?
Casey loves EVERYONE! He's a very friendly dog, he even smiles :)
5. Where does your dog sleep? He has 2 beds, one in the "dining room" (which we don't use) and one in the family room.

6. Do you use a crate? Not any more!
7. How does your kid(s) interact with your dog(s)? Michael loves to play with him. They play catch and they go outside together and run around. They both love the snow!

8. Have you ever had issues with your kids and dogs? Biting? Growling? No issues with the kids. He only growls if he gets into the car and you don't take him for a ride!

9. Is your dog protective of your kids? Yes! He gets upset if there is any kind of yelling at the kids. If Michael is outside, Casey mills around him and stays close by at all times.
10. Does your child(ren) help take care of your dog(s)? My older DD has to help with yard clean up and feeding. Michael can feed him if we want Casey to get a bonus for cleaning up the spilled food on the floor.

1. What breed and or size is/are your dog(s).
a lil over a year chihuahua, and a 10-11mo lab
2. Did you have your dog(s) before your kids or vise-versa? we had the kids first
3. Was your dog a puppy when you got him/her?
chihuahua we got when she was 8wks old I believe, but lab we adopted from a pound when she was 5-6mos old.
4. How does your dog like your kid(s)?
Its funny because chihuahuas tend to pick one person but she loves all the kids and the lab loves the kids too
5. Where does your dog sleep?
chihuahua is crated at night in our laundry room but has a bed under our computer desk that she sleeps at during the day. Our lab sleeps in a kennel in our garage that she has access to from the outside during the day and warmer nights, but during the last few wks when its been really cold we've allowed her to sleep in the laundry room.
6. Do you use a crate?
Yes, its a must for the chihuahua to feel secure , we dont lock the door but its a place we tell the kids that if she goes in there that they are not allow to disturb her and the lab we have a dog house to keep her warmer in the garage.
7. How does your kid(s) interact with your dog(s)? The kids love the chihuaha or course the chihuahua doesnt like to interact a much as the kids would like her to but she'll sit on their lap and let them pet her and feed her. The lab is the playful one that will fetch and loves walks and will let the kids sit on her and so forth
8. Have you ever had issues with your kids and dogs? Biting? Growling? In the beginning the lab would nip at anyones hand to get our attention to play, I believe it was an issue the previous owner hadnt dealt with properly but we didnt allow her to, she has since stopped that after a few months of being in our home. Since we got her we made it a pt for the kids to sit on her pull her tail, ears, put their hands in her food dish etc, same w/ the chihuahua and havent had any bitting or growling issues.
9. Is your dog protective of your kids? The chihuahua definitely forgets how lil she is but will protect the kids from "threats" and the lab is still fairly new to our family but I could see she is already pretty loyal to the kids
10. Does your child(ren) help take care of your dog(s)? The kids help take turns feeding and watering the dogs as well as giving them their treats. They dont have to be asked to play with them. The kids also help pick up if the chihuahua pops on the mat we have by the front door when we gone.

1. What breed and or size is/are your dog(s).
Shi!zu, she weighs about 12 lbs. ( wouldn't let me post the "t")

2. Did you have your dog(s) before your kids or vise-versa?
Kids first

3. Was your dog a puppy when you got him/her?
No,we adopted her from an independant rescue

4. How does your dog like your kid(s)?
Loves them!

5. Where does your dog sleep?
In bed with me and dh

6. Do you use a crate?
No, she is a good girl and really doesn't need to be. I am not against it at all though. She was a breeder and was crated 24/7 by her horrible original owners..I didnt want to even try.

7. How does your kid(s) interact with your dog(s)?
They love her to bits and pieces. She is a total lap dog,and snuggler. Doesn't really do much but look cute and love them. The kids got off easy with her.

8. Have you ever had issues with your kids and dogs? Biting? Growling?
No, none

9. Is your dog protective of your kids?
No, not really. She is of me though. Nothing aggressive, she is my shadow.

10. Does your child(ren) help take care of your dog(s)?

Yes. They walk her, help blowdry and clean her face up after eating and drinking.

My older kids are gonna kill me when they see these icons! What about us mamas with big kiddos and teens?LOL!

1. What breed and or size is/are your dog(s).
WE HAVE A LAB/CHOW MIX WHO IS NOW 6YO AND WE HAVE AN AUSTRAILIAN SHEPHERD WHO IS RIGHT AT A YEAR OLD.
2. Did you have your dog(s) before your kids or vise-versa? WE HAD PELE, THE LAB, BEFORE KIDS. I GOT HER RIGHT WHEN DH AND I MET AND WERE DATING.
3. Was your dog a puppy when you got him/her? YES, I HAD A FRIEND WHOSE DOG GOT PREGGO, AND I GOT A PUPPY!
4. How does your dog like your kid(s)? PELE IS WONDERFUL W/ THE KIDS, BUT YOU MAY/NOT REMEMBER WHEN WE HAD SOME TROUBLE W/ HER A MONTH OR SO AGO. SHE WAS NOT EATING AND WAS AGGRESSIVE TOWARDS THE KITTENS (GOT 2 OF THEM) THAT WE HAD AT THE TIME. HOWEVER, SHE IS SO TOLERANT IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY. DAISY, THE AUSSIE, GETS A LITTLE FRISKIER, BUT IT'S NOT AGGRESSIVE; SHE'S JUST PLAYING. SHE JUST PLAYS ROUGHLY SOMETIMES.
5. Where does your dog sleep? UGH, DAISY WEDGES HERSELF B/TWN DH AND I. SO IRRITATING! PELE SLEEPS ON THE COUCH.
6. Do you use a crate? DAISY IS STILL CRATED EVERY TIME WE LEAVE THE HOUSE B/CS I DON'T TRUST HER W/ SHOES OR TOYS. PELE USED TO USE THE CRATE BUT SHE'S A VERY GOOD DOG W/OUT IT ANYMORE.
7. How does your kid(s) interact with your dog(s)? SINCE WE'VE ALWAYS HAD DOGS FOR ALL THE BOYS, IT IS VERY NATURAL FOR THEM. SHEA IS THE BEST-BEHAVED AND MOST MATERNAL/SOFT W/ THEM. CONNOR AND DAISY ARE TWO PEAS IN A POD AND WILL ROUGH HOUSE ALL DAY IF WE LET THEM. CONNOR IS NOT GOOD W/ THE CATS, THO.
8. Have you ever had issues with your kids and dogs? Biting? Growling? SEE ABOVE, BUT NO, NOT REALLY.
9. Is your dog protective of your kids? EXTREMELY. THERE WAS THIS ONE TIME WHEN WE FIRST MOVED TO TEXAS AND CONNOR WAS A 9 MO CRAWLER AND GOT OUT OF THE HOUSE AND WAS IN THE STREET (OMG!!) AND THIS NEIGHBOR CAME TOWARDS HIM AND PELE JUMPED B/TWN THEM AND GROWLED AT ANYONE WHO GOT NEAR.
10. Does your child(ren) help take care of your dog(s)? I DO NOT GIVE THEM FEEDING/WATERING RESPONSIBILITIES YET, BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY BE PART OF THEIR CHORES. I DO, HOWEVER, ASK SHEA TO CRATE/UNCRATE THE DOGS OR LET THEM OUT IF NECESSARY.

1. What breed and or size is/are your dog(s).
We have 2 retired rescued Greyhounds.
2. Did you have your dog(s) before your kids or vise-versa?
The dogs were our 'kids' before we had the girls (hence my user name :).
3. Was your dog a puppy when you got him/her?
Both were just under 2 years old. Both did not do well racing.
4. How does your dog like your kid(s)?
Now that Brooke is older, the dogs are starting to like her more and more. They'll sleep in her room and ask for some love from her. If the girls are running around, they generally move out of the room.
5. Where does your dog sleep?
Both love sleeping in their open crates (it's the way they were raised on the track). They also sleep on pillows in our room or Brooke's room.
6. Do you use a crate?
Yes. For our retired greys, crates are their 'home' and their place of security. It also keeps them safe from kids. We rarely close the door to their crates (only if we have 'non dog people').
7. How does your kid(s) interact with your dog(s)?
The girls will pet the dogs when the dogs are asking for love - but generally, the dogs sleep most of the time.
8. Have you ever had issues with your kids and dogs? Biting? Growling?
We have had 2 issues where the girls have fallen on our female hound and she has growled. The only other issue we have had is that they are big and when they wag their metre long tail it hurts if it hits you.
9. Is your dog protective of your kids?
No, they aren't. Our male grey does 'protect' me in terms of when my blood sugar is too low. He'll 'glue' himself to me and keep asking for love until I figure out that my blood sugar is low and eat something. I think he can tell by my breath.
10. Does your child(ren) help take care of your dog(s)?
Yes, Brooke feeds the dogs twice a day and helps to let them outside. They are too big and strong for her to walk on a leash yet though.
