Lisa~ We're due on the same day! Like you, we're keeping it a surprise. Austin Matthew is gorgeous! My husband would look at me sideways if I suggested a name like that. The other day I said I liked Seth and Mike (my DH) said "What's a nickname for Seth?" Oh for pete's sake!!! It's one syllable!
Our first baby is due sometime between July 19th (my projected due date) and July 29th (when my OB set my due date)!!!

If we are having a boy, we are naming him Gavin. I feel it is a very strong sounding name.
My sister is having a boy and she is naming him Trevor. I also think it is a strong name.

Mrs. Smith ~ I thought my husband was the only tradionalist out there when it came to naming a son! Thank goodness our first was a girl because we never did settle on a boys name. I'm in love w/the name Austin Matthew (Matthew being my husband's name) and he acutally thinks that that name is "out there." I keep telling him that even though the Johns, Stevens and Thomas are still out there, they're not the majority. We've got 7mos left to argue about this and if it's a boy (we're keeping it a surprise) I told him I'm naming him whatever I want if we don't agree by then!

Oh! I also want to say that you are SO lucky your DH is at least open to creative/unique names. Our baby will have my husband's last name, Smith and the thought of a name outside the "normal" world of Tom, John, Mike, Joe blows my husband's mind.
I even told him that I'm going to write the names (boy or girl) down and give them to the nurse BEFORE we deliver so that he's not left to filling out the birth certificate as I recover. Otherwise, Baby John Smith would be what I come home with, having gone in to the delivery room thinking I'd be leaving with a baby Devon Smith.
Our first baby is due sometime between July 19th (my projected due date) and July 29th (when my OB set my due date)!!!

I personally LOVE this name for a little boy...
Rogue
And I must give credit where it's due -- when I was in 8th grade there was a boy, Rogue Robertson, who was the cutest boy in school. So now, Rogue, represents a tough-bad-boy with a wicked sense of humor who is always up to no good (a la a michief maker).
It's also a river here in Oregon that is well-known for it's white-water rapids.
Our first baby is due sometime between July 19th (my projected due date) and July 29th (when my OB set my due date)!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Roman, but DH is stuck on Brodie. I don't think it's all that tough or masculine, but I like it. He would go with Brock if I would let him, but it's not one of my favorites. I think Roman and Gage are VERY tough names. But, any name that you give him, I'm sure he'll grow up to be a big, strong man!!!

Stone is a tough name (it's my son's friends' name...) my son is Jedidiah Archer- he goes by Jed and there are no other kids with his name in his school- which I like... His middle name is Archer because his daddy is a bow hunter and, as it turns out, Jed is too... :)

We really want to name our son, if it's a boy, Banyon. It comes from the hawaiian(of many places) Banyon tree, the strongest I've ever heard of..... the roots grow from the branches, down into the ground, then back up, constantly growingaround and expanding the trunk! I find it so strong and manly, yet still cute for a little boy, and a new born.

My son's name is Jack (actually it is Jackson, but we call him Jack). If this one is a boy I love the name Caleb. or maybe Aden?
This is so funny, my DH was the same way with our first a boy too! He wanted to name him Maximus Aurelius, or Maximus Overdrive! We finally agreed to JACK, but our short list was:
Mack Max Mike Hunter Scout Brogan Connor
Best of luck!

I do have to tell you, I think no matter what you use for the boys name it is not going to be tough on a infant nor a 4 year old boy. My nephews name is Vincent, at first I thought that it was on the tougher side of names however he has taken that name and made it fit for a 4 year old boy, he calls our house, "Hello this is V.i.n.n.y" (spelling it out).

Lol! I love this post. How about Butch or Duke? Just kidding. Ummm....I'm not sure what a man considers a tough name but I can sure try.
*Hunter *Brutus (My DH's suggestion. lol) *Ike (My friend's husband liked this because it sounds tough and my cousin named her boy this but I'm personally not a huge fan of this name) *Mike *Aaron *Alexander *Harley *Chuck *Brock
That's all I can come up with for now. I have no idea if that's even remotely close to what you are looking for.
