Inappropriate initials?

I read in one of the pregnancy books that there are 2 things that are 100% about naming a baby. Number 1 is that once you name your child you will not think they look like anything else besides what you named them. Number 2 is that your child will always wish that you named them something else... Well, I thought it was funny because the whole time I was growing up I hated my middle name, but now it's not so bad. To get to my point, do whatever you feel is right.

Of course, I don't know if I'm someone to listen to...my family (husband and broth-in-law) are messed-up.. They have been joking (I hope!) about having their kids initials to be SOB when the time comes.

Going slightly off the subject... my little boy's initials are AMSH, which I noticed after a couple of weeks, are an anagram of MASH... I absolutely LOVE mashed potato! I did it without even realising it!

I did chuckle to myself ...

JBSWENNY- absolutely had no problem with PMS initals. First off, I didn't really notice until I was old enough to understand. I think the first time anyone else noticed I was in high school and it was only funny for like two days amoungst some classmates who just wanted to tease. I laughed with them becasue it was funny. Besides, I am not PMS, I am Pamela M. and my name has meaning to me for other reasons so a little teasing was no big deal even kind of fun for me, a little spotlight. I wouldn't throw away your favorite name for something that may go unoticed all her life anyway. I rarely use my middle name even now.
Hope that helped!

Butterfly, you have the initials I was affraid to name our baby.
I love the name Paige Makenzie, but her initials would be PMS. I am afaid kids in school will tease her when she gets to middle school. Did you go through any of this?

We had decided against the idea, but if you don't think it was that bad, I would be happy to reconsider.

It's completely personal preference. I don't think that it being LSD will be that big of a deal... especially if you really like the name Logan. My hubby and I already know what we want to name a son. And his initials will be GOD. We really like the name and figure it'll just be his own little blessing to carry around with him.

I cared enough to avoid using Alexandra for my daughters middle name, as much as I desperately wanted to. Our last name starts with a G. So her initials could have been, based on our name choices:
SAG
HAG
LAG
BAG

Ended up switching the middle name. Sophia Georgina's initials are SGG now.

I just thought that I'd be upset if I had crappy initials. But that's just my opinion. I know how you feel!

I understand your dilemma with this. If we have a boy, the middle name has been decided and starts with 'E' (after DH's grandfather). Our last name also starts with 'E'.

My favourite boy name was Phillip, but that would spell PEE. I just can't do that to my kid. So, we have ruled out any boy names starting with 'P'.

Basically, I have decided that if this kid ever has a monogramed item, I don't want the initials to spell something like PEE!

Good luck!

I don't think it's such a bad thing. It's actual names that kids are really hard on at school. Most people won't even know his middle name unless they are close to him. I don't think it is something to be too concerned about, if you like the name then go for it.

my nephews initials are BAR - never really seemed to be a big deal... my brother in law and sister did not even realize until Brayden was born that he had those initials since they changed their mind on his name the day he was born...

My intials were PMS so growing up it was funny for everyone till I got married. My parents were spanish and had no clue when they named me. All in all, it passes and most people who bug you are the ones who love you anyways and just wanna tease :) Most people don't even notice at all.

A friend of mine has a baby with the initials that spell BAR...It's something to laugh about when you first realize it, but then it's forgotten mostly.

We're having a boy and our favorite name at the moment is Logan. The problem is the middle name will be Scott, after my hubby and last name is Dugas. Hence his initials would be LSD. I was so bummed. Some people say, who cares? Do you think that's a huge deal? His middle name is set in stone, so we can only play around with the first.
