I know a lot of DRs use this drug for inducing labor. If you research it on the internet and/or medical journals, you will find that it is not to be used for this purpose. I dont want to scare you, I am not in the medical field. I just like to do research and when I had my first child, I learned about all the ways they try to induce labor (they tried to give it to me to induce my labor and I refused). Cytotec is used for stomach ulcers and is labeled "not for use on pregnant women", but DRs use it for the purpose of induction all the time. The pill is meant to be taken orally (for the purpose of the ulcers). Using a pill in a different way (to my logic) is not very scientific. In a FEW cases (remember, DRs do this ALOT, it is VERY routine) it has been known to rupture the uterus and has caused death. Please be careful if you have decided to use this. If you have severe pain and are bleeding alot go to the ER ASAP! But, if you are already spotting, maybe give it a day or so. With my last mc I started spotting and had mild cramping, but my cervix was still closed and my DR said that things looked like they were going to be ok. Later that day, I started spotting more and the next day, I passed the baby.

I am so sorry that you have to go through this. My prayers are with you.

I'm sorry you're having to go through this. They gave me cytotec at the hospital to help my labor to progress faster. I think it took a couple of doses. I don't know what you would feel, though, as I had an epidural to help out since I was 18.5 weeks. I hope you can get this over with soon.

I dunno what drug they gave me but I had two pills put on my cervix. My experience was two hours later I started bleeding, quite alot mind you, I am pretty sure that I haemorraghed. I was told by my ob/gyn that it can cause severe contractions which are very painful but in my experience I didn't have any pain at all but I did feel my middle go to work contraction wise, I just took it easy until it was time for my d&c. It was used to open my cervix up so they could perform the d&c.
