Thanks, Trish. I hope that this doesn't happen again! I have been working out and dieting, so I can be a hot mama next time around! 6 months will fly by...

Take Care,

Amy,

Thanks for the info and your right we shouldn't have to feel this way about our drs.

A little encouragement for you... my best friend had a molar pg and went through something similiar. She even had chemo b/c her levels would not drop. She is now happy and healthy and has three beautiful girls.

Hang in there. 6 months seems like such a long time now but the reality is, it is actually a very short time in life. Take this time to really focus on your health. Excercise, eat right, enjoy your summer and then have fun ttc.

I wish you lots luck. Keep us posted and we hope to see you again on the boards in Aug.

Hi Trish,

My cervix took about 6 weeks to completely heal from the D&C/infection. So, although you are finished with the antibiotics, it is possible that there is still some inflamation. We're so accustomed to bouncing back from things, but when it comes to an infection like this one, that's just not the case. It will just need time to heal. I do think it's very strange that your doctor did not examine you. Get another doctor. You shouldn't feel this way! You should have a doctor that puts your mind at ease and is helpful. I know it's stressful to change doctors (as I am still thinking about changing mine), but you have to think long-term.

As for why I can't TTC for 6 months, do you have all day? Long story short: 5 weeks after my D&C, the tests came back and they indicated that I m/c due to a partial molar pregnancy. A PMP is when a fetus forms, but has 69 chromosomes and cannot survive. Better yet, the placental tissue has the potential to turn into cancer! The cancer is detected by monitoring my hCG levels. The levels must return to negative, and then stay at negative for 6 months. They do this to ensure that there are no harmful cells lingering in the body. Lucky for me, I just reached negative and must go in for 6 monthly hCG tests. At first you get checked weekly to see if the levels are dropping at a regular rate (that was terribly depressing), and once they reach negative, you move onto 6 monthly checks. 12 months if you had a complete molar pregnancy. If my levels rise, and I'm not pg, then I would have to get Chemo. If I were to get pg, then they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between my pg hCG's vs. molar hCG's.

So, not only did I miscarry, but I can't even TTC for a long freaking time! I feel like a lab rat! If all goes well, I'll be trying in August, which is when I got pg the first time. As for my emotions, I'm feeling much better. I had my D&C 12 weeks ago, and once my levels went down (at 11 weeks), I not only felt relief, but I know it's just 6 more months.

Sorry for the loooonnnnnnngggggg post. I really hope you're feeling better soon!

Amy

Hi JenK,

No the doctors don't know why 3 m/c but they suspect I have an antibody that fights any foregin object (like a baby). It is like a sister to Lupus. I have been tested for Lupus and do not have it but when pg it can develop. I struggled the whole pg with my son. He was born a month early due to Hellp syndrome. He only weighed 4lbs but was thankgoodness was healthy. I was very sick for a couple of days. The strange thing is that HELLP is more severe when pg with a boy. In a second pg chances of getting it again decrease significantly. We thought this time around would be o.k. I have a high risk baby dr. lined up if we get pg again but do not have an ob/gyn I trust any longer. Several things went wrong during the m/c process with the clinic I have been a patient of for over 10 years. I don't blame them for the m/c but my care during and after were completely ridiculous. My husband will not step foot into the clinic again and told me we won't even try if I choose to use them again. I agree with him.

I wish you luck ttc again. That part is always fun! You are right, if it is meant to be it will happen. Keep me posted, hope to see you on the "due" boards again soon.

I did have an infection after the d&c and had not passed some of the tissue. I was put on antibiotics (and methrigin) and finished them over the weekend. Do you think I may still have the infection? I HATE calling my dr. office and think it is weird she didn't exam me at my last visit. I think I will try calling my family dr. and see what he thinks. This has been the most frustrating month of my life!

I am glad you are feeling better. Do you still feel sad all the time? I am starting to get a grip on my emotions and don't cry at the drop of a hat any more. Why do you have to wait 6 months to try again?

JenK, This was my third m/c and I spoke with a specialist in the hospital while preping for the d&c. He recommended getting gene therapy and having a complete physical before trying again. There are lots of blood tests and things we should check out. We are blessed with our son Mitchell so if it never happens again, it is o.k. What about you? WHen will you start trying?

TRISHMANNING-I had the same pain! It killed me to make a BM!! It started approx 2 weeks post d&c. He suspected a post-operative infection. The inflamation of the uterus caused the BM pain. He put me on antibiotics and followed up with an u/s and then he examined me and checked my cervix. All is well now--don't be scared, just call the doctor!

You know, I have a herniated disk in my lower back and that has been bothering me too since the D&C, but the pains I had were on the other side. My disc usually causes pain on the left side and these pains were mostly on the right. It did hurt more when I went to the bathroom. My OB did do a pelvic exam when I went in for my post op check up. The day I went in for my check up was acutally when the pain started. I mentioned this to my OB and she said I was probalby ovulating. I believed her, but then the pain lasted for over a week. That's when I posted here, and low and behold, as soon as I posted the pain has gone away. Now I'm just waiting for AF. Did your OB tell you to wait to start trying again?

It has been 2 1/2 weeks since my d&c and I am having the same type of pains. (This is my 2nd d&c and I don't remember any of this the last time). My right hip, butt and leg cramp with sharp shooting pains. BM's are so painful I cry and it takes my breath away. (this has happened since the d&c) I am completly fed up with my OB so I don't want to call until I find another dr. I had a massage yesterday that seemed to help the pain today. My husband thinks the pain is from the fact that they basically have your legs behind your head for the d&c and maybe my siatic (sp?) nerve is pinched. The massage therapist agreed. We will do another massage and see if it continues to help. I am going to have a pysical with my family dr. and have him recommend a new OB.

Just curious, when you went for your re-check after your d&c did your ob do an exam? Mine did not. We thought this was very strange. I wanted to check to make sure my uterus was not hardening and that it is doing what it is suppose too. She said that they don't usually check??? I know they did last time?

My cramps changed after my D&C. I went from having the normal dull burning cramps that lasted for hours to having a few short but extremely SHARP cramps and that's it. May just be your body adjusting but call you doctor if you have any concerns.

It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my D&C and I've been feeling a lot of weird pains but they seem to be going away. I was getting horrible pains everytime I went to the bathroom for a bowel movement (sorry so much info). Such bad pain that I would almost pass out. I went to my ob and she told me that it was the fact that I was inflammed and game me medicine which did sort of help. I'm feeling better now and I think my bleeding has finally stopped. I would say, call your OB, they are the best ones to answer your questions. Like I said, I did feel a lot of weird pains though.

I had a D&C on Jan. 6. About 2 weeks after the D&C I began having sharp pains near my right hip. At first I thought I was ovulating, but the pains have continued since then. I am starting to have PMS sings, but am worried what might be causing this pain. Has anyone else experience anything like this?
