Nice workout! It's cold and windy here today, but I'm going to try and get out for a x-country ski later. Cathy

Hello BabyFit Members! In a effort to organize the BabyFit message boards, improve member navigation, and make member interaction even easier, some of the message boards will be combined and some labels will be changed. The most popular boards will remain and there will be a new link to MommyTeams on the main message board page.
ALL message board threads/topics will be maintained, nothing will be deleted. Boards will simply be combined. This forum and threads will soon reside in the Post Pregnancy Fitness and Nutrition Forum and notification e-mail links should direct you to any threads you are subscribed to, just like normal.
This reorganization will help new and current members more easily find what they are looking for, as message board choices will be concise and confined to just over one screen page. Members are always encourages to check out MommyTeams for special-interest topics and group.
The change-over will take place on the morning (EST) of December 7, 2009.

The acupuncture... well I will tell you tomorrow because I am going back for one more. I have to admit this week was not as bad as last week, but that could be either the acupuncture or the fact it's week ten and I am coming to the end of the blech time. Definitely notice the higher-intensity of the boxercise makes me much more tired the next day than the days when I just run. Forturnately the class only has four more weeks.
Yesterday I did the boxercise class for 55 minutes and today ran for three miles. Tomorrow planning another three for a measly twelve this week but hope to make it back up to 20 in the next few weeks as the weather has to improve sometime and so does my stomach!
Later from Bro

Does the accupunture help with the nausea? I've heard it can really make a difference. Hope this is a good week for you! Cathy

OK I am back, what a terrible week I had last week, hopefully things are going to turn around soon with this baby-related nausea. Went to accupuncture on Sat and going back on Fri, somethings got to help!
Last week on Monday I lifted weights for 25 and biked for 15, Tuesday ran 6 miles, Wednesday taught boxercise for 55 minutes and Thursday ran 3 miles. That was it!
This week I ran 3 miles and taught boxercise yesterday and today I have run three miles and that is probably it.
OK back to work, later from Bro

Aha this is where I used to post workouts! I forgot. OK, I am back after two and a half years and expecting baby # 2. I am in the throes of all-day sickness in month 2. If pregnancy #1 was any indication then by the end of this month I should be feeling great.
In any event I am working out despite the blahs. This week since Monday here are my workouts:
Monday ran 3 miles and taught boxercise for 50 minutes. Tuesday ran 6 miles. Wednesday taught boxercise for 50 minutes. Thursday ran 3 miles.
Tomorrow I hope to run 6 miles but it is sooooo cold here I may just run 3 and try to get some resistance training done at home.
OK back to work... hope everyone is feeling better than me! From Bronagh

Warming up before you hit your stride with your cardio exercise is so important. It prepares your muscles and joints for more intense movement, and I've found that I need time to get to the point where I can comfortable exercise. The first 20 minutes is always rough-after that everything kicks in and feels fine! Cathy

Thursday and Monday: 60 body pump...I figured out that body pump goes much better if i do 15 minutes of warm up a elliptical or something. I think i'm going to try to incorporate this before each work out... i never realized how important warming up was before...i used to be able to just charge right into things but with the warm up my headaches went away and i could lift more weight

Ok sounds good.
I forgot to post Friday but I didn't have anything to post anyway :(
Saturday: bodypump 60 min...felt strained like I was forcing my body to obey instead of easy like it usually is...I don't think I gave my body enough time to wake up before I ran to the gym at 8 am, plus I had a mild headache the whole time.
Sunday: Prenatal Yoga 35 min - i suck at yoga! I'm going to try to do this one more often and is if I can increase my flexibility. I can't seem to get comfortable lying on the floor for the floor exercises. Lying on my side hurts my ribs. I need like any 6" air mattress or something instead of the little yoga mat.
hopefully this week will bring more enjoyable workouts

O yeah...I almost forgot my exercise check in! I'll start from Monday
Mon - 45 min prenatal yoga video - very low key and relaxing, i suck at relaxing so it was kindof boring for me
Tues - 60 min BodyPump class - felt great, i was really tired and crappy feeling prior to going and it woke me right up

Hi everyone! My name is Kristin and I just found this exercise check in board and would like to join.
I need motivation to exercise a little more frequently. Right now I'm a solid 2 days a week at the gym doing body pump but I'd like to consistently incorporate at least one more day a week of at exercise at home (either x-country skiing or workout tapes or whatever else comes up). I live in Buffalo, NY so it is freezing here right now which is kind of limiting.
I will try to check in Mon/Wed/Fri

I put in 4 reg workouts again last week. I need to get in gear again...I feel like I'm still in vacation mode.
Found my resistance band and am thinking about adding it to my workouts just to change things up a little. Cathy, any great exercises I can do utilizing the resistance band? or places to look for them? Thanks!

Each pregnancy can stretch your belly skin and the tissues below, making it more difficult to regain pre-pregnancy tone. It's still early in your PP recovery, so give your body time to recover. I've pasted some great exercises for new moms below-start with level one and progress slowly to get the best benefits from them
Your skin can take a while to recover, and for some women it can remain somewhat loose. Again, I wouldn't stress about it this early in your recovery-give it time to heal.
You can help provide the nutrients your body needs to rebuild by eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, high quality protein and complex carbs.
Check out the website www.sparkpeople.com for great nutrition information and support. Cathy http://babyfit.sparkpeople.com/m yspark/post-pregnancy-exercise -demos.asp

I'm here to ask for some help..
I have a 10 yr. old Son, 5 yr. old Daughter and a new baby girl She's 8 weeks old. With my first two children I had my flat stomach fast! But with this pregnancy I have a a flabby stomach and under my belly button it's all wrinkly..What kind of exercise can I do? Will it ever go away?

If you haven't been biking that amount of distance up to this point, then I do think it would be a big stress right now. That doesn't mean you can't start biking, just keep the mileage down to 5-8 miles the first couple of weeks. As you build your endurance you can add more miles, and even get to the point where you commute is a comfortable distance. The key is building slowly and paying close attention to how your body responds. It's not that hard to get the additional calories needed for that amount of energy expenditure. An additional bagel with peanut butter and a glass of 2% milk will cover it. Biking caloric expenditure can range from 400-600 calories an hour depending on your speed. Let me know how it goes- Cathy

Friday: my reg routine, 45 min elliptical level 8, lunges 3 sets of 10 w/ 10 lb weights, abs
I didn't eat very well this weekend...DH's b-day, but I plan on making some healthier meals this week to make up for it...grilled chicken, sweet potato, peas tonight

Welcome Seansmom! This it great to have a group going-you all can help motivate each other to check in and keep consistent with your exercise!! Your workout looks great and make sure to use proper body mechanics when cleaning your house. Bend from your knees not your hips and hold anything you're lifting as close as possible to your body. Cleaning house can be a tough workout and cause back pain if you're not careful with your movements. Cathy

It wasn't strep...thank goodness! Poor DH...he was so sick! However, I have a cold that DS came down with last week, but its not near as bad as strep. I finally stopped coughing enough to start working out again yesterday. Its funny how you start to miss exercise after you stopped for a few days.
Monday: elliptical: 30 minutes
I did some garden work too. I watered our new trees while DH tilled the garden and planted some tomatoes. I'm looking forward to homegrown ones!

If you DH has strep and you start to feel a sore throat, do go in right away to see if you have it at well. The sooner you treat it the faster you'll feel better. Keep me posted on how you're doing. Cathy
