Exercise is as important as monitoring your diet, so even just doing a little bit of fitness each day will make a big difference. The benefits are additive as exercise makes you feel better emotionally, which helps keep you from stress eating, along with burning calories. For most women, the issue is finding the time to exercise, so instead of thinking you have to carve out a log of time, instead think about doing shorter bouts of 10-20 minutes whenever you can fit it in. It also helps to keep an exercise calendar where you write in what you've done and keep it where it'll remind you to exercise. Feel free to post any fitness questions to me-I'm here to help! Cathy

Help me: I am doing horrible on my weight loss and I can't seem to get back on track. Post Partum I lost the 30 pounds by 6 months and now, a year later I have gained it back. Then my back pain started to act up. Now I am in so much pain by the end of the day I can't exercise they way I did before. I have stopped breastfeeding. I can't seem to start eating right without the workout component. Sometimes I feel like it is all or nothing. How do I get myself to eat less and stay motivated without the workout high?
I have no idea what I weigh. I trashed my scale over the summer... But I feel absolutaly huge. Bigger than 9 months pregnant. I feel horrible about myself and I can't get back on track.
I am so frustrated.

Hey ladies! I'm new to Babyfit and this is my first post! :) I was a little bigger before I got pregnant and gained 31 pounds during the pregnancy, most of it when I got put on bedrest because of pre-eclampsia. I'm now 4 weeks PP after a c-section and I've lost 33 pounds already! I haven't had much of an appetite, but I have been eating a lot healthier since baby was born! I still want to lose 38 pounds yet and then I will be at my ideal weight! After my 6 week checkup, I'm so excited to be able to work out again!

Hi,
This is my first time posting to any message board :)
I am 16 weeks PP. I gained 40 lbs during my 3rd pregnancy and lost 28 so far.I am also in the process of treating my hashimotos using a combination therapy.
I have mild pelvic pain on my right side, so I am doing some walking with alternating inclines and speeds on treadmill and watching what i eat.
Can anyone suggest any medium impact workout routines/DVDs that will work for me?
thanks to all.

Thanks, ladies. I am starting Power 90 today.
I am 160 today! Here I go...
I guess we're not starting until this coming Friday now (so we can buy all the food, protein shakes, etc). I will Zumba until then.

Hi,
I am new to this message board and just recently subscribed to Babyfit.com. I will be 6 weeks postpartum on Saturday and have so far lost 28 lbs from the 44 lbs I gained during pregnancy. I was hoping to have lost more weight by now since I am EBF. My short term goal is to get back to pre pregnancy weight at 134 and my long term weight loss goal is to weigh 120-125. Before I got pregnant I was heavier than I prefer to be. Once I have the okay to workout at my 6 week appointment I don't think I should have any problems losing the weight I wish everyone luck with their weight loss goals!

Hi, I'm new to this site.
I had my 3rd baby via c-section on April 25, 2011.
I just started adding a little Zumba Fitness in here and there, and watching what I eat as of January 3, 2012. Before then, I was eating too much junk food and had gained some weight that I lost back.
I was 188.8 on April 25, 2011.
January 1st, I weighed in at 167.3.
Today, I am 163.5.
My goal by my birthday in June is 140. My ultimate goal, for who knows when, hopefully sometime this year I can get down to 125 again.

I have been so crazy busy with school I havent been able to get on here and post anything. First I have to say I am quite disappointed with myself as far as eating. It seems like between class and everything else I either forget to eat breakfast or it isn't the healthiest. I tend to forget to each lunch, so by the time supper comes around I am starved and I over eat. I cook very healthy meals for me and my family....just need to work on portion control. I also do quite a bit of snacking....and sometimes not the best snacks. :( On a happier note I have lost quite a bit since I last posted. I also tried on a pair of my pre-pregnancy jeans (11 in juniors) and they are BAGGY!!! The pants I wore BEFORE I got pregnant are getting too lose for me to wear! I have not been smaller than a size 11 in....3 1/2 years! So here is my progress so far.
Gained 37 lbs in pregnancy, lost 45 thus far, Im 14.5 weeks out! I had 30 to lose before hand so no complaints here!:) Breastfeeding and wrking out - maybe that's helping???? Oh and yes, food journaling for sure!! Especially since going back to work.

CBALDWIN21-The Brazilian Buttlift is an awesome workout! First you have to decide on your "butt type" and then they have a specific workout plan for you to follow. It is by beachbody. They have previews at beachbody.com...my friend got me started and after the first few days I was super sore...a good sore though cuz I knew it was working. :) My friend lost inches off her thighs, hips, belly, and booty doing this. The before and after pics are amazing! I am going to be starting again on Monday. I hope this helps!

Well after being stuck at the same weight for 6 weeks I am happy to say that my weight has started going down again!I have started watching what I eat better, writing down the food and calories, and what exercise and how long I work out. As crazy as it sounds I put a picture of my family on the front of the notebook I am using to track my intake and exercise. I write what I am going to eat in the notebook BEFORE i eat it. I put the pic on the front because I am not only working hard to get in shape but to be healthier for my family. (I want to see my kiddos grow up...) Writing everything down before I eat it makes me really think if I need it or if I want it. Also if there is a healthier option. Well anyway so far here is where I am at
Oh yeah baby! I am very happy about that! I I have also started the Brazilian Butt Lift...talk about pain! Good luck to you ladies! :)

Pretty happy with the weight loss so far. I am going to try to get to my pp weight with my first which was 107, but am shooting for 110. I keep getting pregnant when baby is 6-9 months old and haven't been under 114. lol But I am going to try harder this time! With 4 babies, it's hard to exercise the way I like too, but am determined to get the weight off. I'm not able to start exercising for a few more weeks, but am going to keep track of my food intake and hope it helps.

SUPERBUSYMOMMA... Start checking your calories. Even if you eat healthy, its amazing the number of calories you can eat when you dont check. I was on a plateau for 4 weeks until I started to count the calories and realised I was eating way too much even with plenty of veggies and fruits.
I have been eating a lot more veggies and cut soda down to only about 1-2 a week...it was 3-4 a day. I have also starting doing exercising. I am not losing the weight as quick as I would have liked but I do feel a lot better. Hopefully, the weight will come off soon...

Thank you BEACH BUM MAMA, your comment really helped ! I was eating healthy but too much. So now I control my calories intake as you said and it works !
Pre Pregnancy Weight: 154 Last Weight In B4 Birth: 199.4 6 weeks Post Part: 178.0 13 Weeks Post Part: 173.5
And hit a plateau at 10 weeks, and havent lost or gained more then .5 pound here or there. But maintaining is better then gaining but just as frustrating
But my goal weight is 130.0 so I have 43.5 pounds to go....when I met my husband 3 years ago i was 138.0, even if i get back down to that I have, 35.5 pounds, either way...I've got a lot to go!
This past tuesday was mine and my hubby's 3rd anniversary...we had a kid free dinner and I did not eat the healthiest. :( I am also having a hard time fitting exercise in my already very busy day...hopefully this week things will go much easier and i will be more conscience of what I eat.

Hello everyone! My baby just turned a month old yesterday and I am have decided it is time to start shedding the pounds. I am only about fifteen pounds away from my goal weight, but I am also trying to tone up. To be quite honest I miss my six pack....I seem to have lost it when it got replaced with what seemed like liters and liters of amniotic fluid, lol. The problem is I have five kids (ages 7,5,4,2,and 1 month) I'm a stay at home mom, husband works and goes to school full time. I am exclusively breastfeeding and can't seem to fit time in to work out. I have to stay up extra late just so I can get a shower in daily! I know a lot of it is time management, but it seems like once I get the kids down for a nap I am so exhausted I need a nap myself....any suggestions??

Hello MrsLynah, I always put a lot of weight during my pregnancy. I am not sure why but I am alwasy way out of the limits of what I should be putting on. I would say maybe dont worry too much as long as the pregnancy is healthy. Just like us you will lose it after. All the best :)

MrsLynah, thanks for the kind words. :) And congrats on your pregnancy! There is another thread on the pregnancy side that may help you. It's called "WEIGHT GAIN CHECK IN EVERYONE." I posted in that thread every MOnday when I was preg with my DD and it helped me to only gain 18 lbs (versus the 64 I gained with my 1st!) I started this thread because I got so used to posting in the weight gain thread every week and knew I needed something to help keep me accountable for losing the baby weight. You might check out that other thread too, and join us onc eyour bundle arrives! Good luck. Yes! I actually spent a good 4-5 weeks in a plateau. I do Weight Watchers for a nursing mom. Turns out their one-size-fits all nursing moms approach didn't work for me. I decreased my points target by 7 pts and started losing immediately without hurting milk supply. I stepped up my workouts too, but not by much. I think I was eating too much before. I eat frequently but smaller meals/snacks. Good luck! I know how frustrating thatis!

Can someone help me? It makes 5 weeks that I am stuck in a plateau.
I (i) eat healthy (i.e., fruits and vegetable, lean meats), (ii) BF (i.e., 1200 ml per day or 800 kcal per day), (iii) do stationaty bycicle (i.e., 200 kcal per day), and (iv) core exercises every day.
I use the porogesterone pill.
whats wrong with me? Please help me burst that plateau. I am so depressed!
I am finally starting the see the scale budge a little bit. I am now 8.2 lbs away from getting my WW lifetime membership status back in good standing, though my personal goal is still 14 lbs away. I am still nursing my DD too. I intend to go to at least 1 year, or longer is she wants to. :)

Sparky, it's better that you weigh yourself once a week rather than daily. Weight can fluctuate up to 5 lbs even within a single day with water retention, food etc. That is why you can weigh one thing one day and more the next. I personally weigh every Monday morning, about the same time before I eat or drink anything. Hope that helps.

Breastfeeding seems to help: 1200 ml per day = 700 kcal per day or 3500 kcal per week.
But, now I am stuck and not losing.. Not sure why? HOW DO YOU BURST A PLATEAU WHILE BF??
My son is almost 2, so this is way post pregnancy, but I gained about 15 lbs after losing all my pregnancy weight.
Current weight: 177 lbs Goal weight: 160 lbs Date: 5/3/2011
My plan is to work out doing strength training and cardio at home after I finish work at noon, but before I pick up my son. I have tried to do some different workouts with him, but he's not interested and gets all mad at me when I'm not playing with him. I have netflix streaming, so any recommendations on things available there are appreciated. I also have the 30 day shred and some pilates and yoga DVD's.

I was pretty active all throughout my pregnancy-I took three months off for recovery and have gradually added back in walking, some running and weights. That is when a lot of my weight seemed to pack on. I know they ALL say it's muscle...but I don't know about you, but I'd rather see the scale go down. I'm thinking I need to workout more than three times a week...I just don't want it to take over my life.

It takes doing an assessment of your daily caloric intake to get back on track after eating for BF. You burn an additional 500 calories a day while BF, so if you continue to eat the same amount of calories once you've finished, you'll put on weight pretty fast (one pound equals 3500 calories, so just one week of eating that extra amount will really add up). Doing a food record is a great way to see just exactly how many calories you're eating, and whether you have nutritious diet. I'm sure Tanya will weigh in here soon with her great nutrition advice! Cathy PS-Are you doing any exercise such as walking or other activities?

I'm the exact opposite! My body hangs on to fat while I nurse and weight loss is a struggle until baby eats solids and nurses a bit less. No advice other than track your food and exercise! Good luck!

After my baby was born I lost the weight pretty quickly. I attribute the weighloss to breatfeeding becuase I was eating whatever I wanted and still losing the weight. But now that I have stopped breatfeeding and my nutrition habits are the same I am blowing up like a balloon...2 lbs a week -I am now at the weight I was at 6 MONTHS PREGNANT! So yes I know I need to eat healthier, but is this a trend for many moms- I'm freaking out! Any Tips??

YES! It's still going! Sorry! I have been slacking on check-ins.
I have added more weight training and my weight is allover the place. I have been sticking to my plan. Last week I gained .8 after a perfect eating/exercising week. I ate a little more this past week and I gained 3.6 lbs!!! I am really angry and frustrated. That has to be water weight. It makes no sense. :( It's like my efforts from the entire last month mean nothing because I'm right where I was in early March.

1st pregnancy; started at 155 pounds delivered at 202 lbs. (gained 47 total)8 pound 8 oz baby ;-) and lost it within 6 weeks *Breastfeeding* ~gained it back after stopping breastfeeding, lost it, gained it, and went between 147 and 220 over the next 13.5 years. Usually averaging around 180-190.
NOW... with this pregnancy I started at 187 (coming down from 220 the previous year) gained nothing the 1st 2.5 months, 12 pounds in month 2.5-3.5, 10 pounds in month 3.5-4.5, 7 pounds in month 4.5-5.5, and am now 22 weeks pregnant @ 216 lbs. 29 pounds in 22 weeks!!!!!
I may add that I am eating VERY healthy, 2000 calories a day, very little sugar/ junk/ fast foods. I also work out regularly doing Yoga and swimming! I have excellent blood pressure, blood tests, and the baby is "fantastically" healthy according to the U/S. The baby actually weighed 1 whole pound at 19 weeks! I think it's going to be a MONSTER. I am trying not to stress... but it still seems like a lot of weight! p.s. I am SURE that at least 5 pounds is in my gigantic BOOBS. lol I was told by the m/w not to diet, I go to a naturopath, and a dietitian, and track everything that goes in my mouth. any words of advice?
I have now lost 24.3 lbs since 10-11-10 and I have 19.7 more to go to reach my long term goal of pre-mommy weight! I had a hard week this week because I went out with DH for my 28th bday Tuesday night and splurged (though it was a mindful splurge) and splurged again at DS's 2nd bday party this weekend. I got my 10% weight loss award with WW this morning too. Woo-hoo!

Thanks Cathy- it is nice to eat healthier, and the kids are actually eating vegetables now... if I could get my oldest to eat them all the time, that would be great too:) Have a great weekend!

That is awesome Beach Bum! Way to go! I have heard so many things about WW too:) That is wonderful. I did lose 2 pds this week, finally. I am doing a "Biggest Loser" deal with my DH, and he is actually participating-yeah! Take care, and keep up the great work!
I finally busted through my plateau! Yahoooo! Haven't weighed this since 2nd trimester with baby #1 (over 2 years ago.) Happy happy happy. :) I started the new WW pointsplus a week ago. I am definitely a fan. Tracking food is key for me. And so is exercise! 21 lbs to pre-preg weight (from 1st baby). 15.7 lbs til I get my WW lifetime member status back.

Maxmama, nothing is impossible! I lost 90 lbs in 2004 with Weight Watchers + exercise. I had been an unhealthy weight for my height before then. I definitely agree with Cathy that the tools on here are great! Good luck to you...

To the people that are upset about weighing 140, at least you are successful with your weight loss. I was up to 247 with my second child (although once upon a time I was in the 147), and down to 214. I feel terrible. I don't think I will ever be back to the 200, lower marking:(
I only lost .4 this week but I am convinced it's from exercising 3x and that it will balance out soon. At least I hope so! Good luck this week all.

Hi all! Wow, I stopped getting notifications about this thread and then got really busy. I just started my own shop on Etsy and have been REALLY busy since Valentines week. I am back here because I slacked off and gained weight back. BOOO! So here is my check in...
So now I am 1.9 lbs over my pre-preg weight with baby #2, which is a bummer but could be worse, and 25.6 lbs away form my ultimate goal of pre-preg weight from my 1st baby. SIGH. I am getting sick again too. I just started eating right again Monday and exercised once so far, so hopefully next Monday will be better.
Sorry for the long silence and welcome to all who joined while I was away!

I was 145 before I got pregnant. Final weight during pregnancy was 205. I am down to 172, but would like to get back to at least 145 - ideally 130.

Sorry to hear you've been sick, but don't worry, your body is regulate once you're back on track. Just remember to replace fluids as you're probably a bit dehydrated from your illness. Cathy
