One of the best parts of those types of programs is the great friends you can meet. Exercise is always a lot more fun when you're doing it with fun people! Cathy

Anyone ever do Stroller Strides? It's a great workout. I've been doing it for a while and have had tremendous results.

I think that the Babyfit busy moms Bootcamp would be a perfect way for you to ease back into exercise. You'll need to start slowly, and don't push too hard too fast, but the routines are quick and fun and great for new moms. Do check with your doctor before starting any fitness routine postpartum to make sure your body is ready for exercise. Cathy PS-I think you're idea of trying to lose weight to the point where your clothes fit well is a great idea.

Also, I don't own a scale and was just going to try to lose until I fit into my pre pregnancy clothing...is this a good or bad idea?

With the c-section of my first child, I was surprised how painful it was even weeks after the surgery. I made sure I took my pain pills about a half hour before I tried to exercise. I started walking about 2 weeks after surgery, very slowly and for very short distances - maybe 1/4 mile. I did that for a couple weeks and slowly walked a little more as the pain allowed. After my 6 week check up, I returned to a toning exercise class that I had done before and during pregnancy. Took it easy, then built up strength. Also at 6 weeks I began riding a stationary bicycle for increasing time. I don't recall it being that painful, though the incision itself was still sore at that point. Bicycling was a good way to get in some cardio without all the impact. AND I could do it when my baby was sleeping.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling so sore and stiff. It may be helpful to start out with some gentle stretching to help with the stiffness. Any chance you could get a massage? That would be great for easing your tight and sore muscles. Cathy

Congratulations on doing such a great job of fitting in exercise to your routine! I've heard Wii fit plus is a lot of fun, and that's the biggest battle with exercise-finding an activity that you like to do! Cathy

I had a c-section as well. My doctor told me I could start walking when I felt I was well enough. My incision pinched so I didn't do very much walking till they were out. Once they were, I felt free (well sort of). Though unfortunately for me, I had severe back pain which I spoke to my doctor about. I honestly can say I didn't do any exercise till the 10th week (more than walking) and i definitely regretted it. My abdomen was in quite a bit of pain so I had to wait till I was 12 weeks. Then my back was still hurting, but the doctor didn't seem too concerned.
Now that the Wii Fit Plus is out, I have been working out on that. I love it. If you tried the Wii Fit, then you love the second one. I have more energy now and I have been slowing working to get off the weight I had before my baby. She is now 8 months old and I have nearly lost as much weight as she weighs off of my pre-pregnancy body.
Try to be optimistic about yourself, your goals and your exercise. My doctor said as long as I do 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week and my heart is pumping throughout the exercise (increased heartbeat), then it doesn't really mater which exercise I do. Good luck.

Hello I also had a c-section 4 months (june 10 2009)for my beautiful baby boy...and my doc always advise me to start walking right away, it will help you heal faster. Once i was out of surgery i started to do pelvic moves with the nurse assistance of course. I started walking the next day and i felt alot better after. i was release three days after surgery. I contiune walking even when i got home but not walking miles but up and down the block and gradually start walking and running miles. I started to do ab workouts when logan was 2 months old. I wanted to be safe and waited a extra two weeks. I did still feel a tingyness where my stitches where but doctor say every women is different when they get feeling back in that area. Which know I do. Hope I helped alittle

As the prior posts said, you really need to talk with your doctor about how long you should wait to exercise following your c-section. Ab work is especially a caution-your incision needs to be fully healed before you start back with ab exercises. Cathy

Typically your medical provider will provide you with guidelines so if you did not receive those please contact them to get specific recommendations. Here are general guidelines as well.
As parents you establish the teaching, training and expectations for your child in the first 7 years of their life. After that you live out what you set up.

Double check with your doctor. I know mine said no abs for 6 weeks. I was cleared for walking almost immediately, but that was about it for six weeks. SOme doctors aren't as conservative.
