I think pretzel's are great. The calories on them are pretty low considering and if you are worried about the sodium get un salted. I am a sweet freak so I try and get anything that is low fat or sugar free, to take care of those cravings. Pudding is a good one too especially the sugar free one. I do not believe in diets and I do not think anyone should eliminate a type of food from their diet. The only things I say to get rid of is Soda and Fast food.
Good luck.

In the summer I like to make fake icecream sandwhiches. I buy chocolate graham crackers and slather on a thick layer of low fat cool whip in the middle, wrap in foil and freeze. They are very yummy!!

BTW - I had 2 smores this morning! I'm a bad girl!

Not necessarily cheap but dried fruits like apricots, cherries, craisins, dates, prunes or raisins can provide healthy and sweet snack items. If you pick portion controlled packs that can also help.

I have heard that frozen grapes is another great option and when in season can be very cost effective.

As parents you establish the teaching, training and expectations for your child in the first 7 years of their life. After that you live out what you set up.

I'm really trying to cut back on sugar because I've been a sugar fiend and I'm serious about it this time. Summer brings a slowdown to my appetite so I won't have the urge to be microwaving s'mores 5 and 6 times over. Anyway, I've found that a few nuts and maybe a serving of pretzels can cut out that urge to eat sugar. Are pretzels ok? People on this site can rage against carbs sometimes and I don't believe in eliminating entire groups. The thing is, when I eat lunch, the "main course" is meat + fruit. (Veggies are at dinner time)

What are some good, relatively cheap substitutions for sugary cravings?
