You will retain a lot of fluid during the first weeks PP, so the scale isn't going to be very accurate regarding weight loss. Give yourself a break from the scale for the next few weeks and focus on eating as healthy as possible. Avoid high sodium foods, processed foods-anything that will cause your body to retain fluid. Also, try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to help flush out excess fluids.
Contrary to what you might think, drinking more water helps your body get rid of fluids, not add more. If you don't get enough fluids your body secretes a hormone that causes you to retain fluids, so to avoid that try drinking water throughout the day.
Don't worry, your weight will come off in time! Cathy

Hi, I just came back from the hospital. We are both healthy and happy! Baby weighs close to 8lbs, but I only lost 5lbs... Shocking! I thought at least I will lose 8 lbs plus.. fluids...? Is this normal??
