I had a similar experience with my first - I too resorted to pumping and supplementing for 7mo. I have moved on from that and successfully breastfed and am still breastfeeding my second. I nursed my daughter for 50 minute shortly after she was delivered - within 15minutes of delivery. I think that led to our success. I also was prepared to do a breastcrawl - which you could google videos of - but she nursed like a champ - never any latching issues.
We did have supply issues early on, and baby wasn't gaining weight, so she had 5-30ml bottles every other day or so - starting after 1 wk. and at 2 wks, there was a 3 day period where I was supplementing after every feeding during the day - pumping after every feeding. My LC advised this to boost up her weight and increase my supply. I used SNS system for part of that, but I did also use a bottle once a day.
So I was able to use a bottle occassionally, and not have nursing issues, and she did take to the bottle when I went back to work.

Good Luck!. I withheld the pacifier and bottle for about 4 weeks and swear it worked. Both breastfed no problem. Warning though...My first never took a bottle. Don't know why.She didn't want anything to do with it.....But I did get her to drink from a sippy cup at 6 months, so it ended up working out.
