Oh... I see. I think so, but I'm not sure because I never had very much of an increase with mine, but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. Everyone is different (I know... starting to sound a bit cliche, huh?)

yes, I know that Mother's Milk is a tea. I was asking how long after you start using it should you notice an increase in supply.

The reply was that More Milk Plus worked in a couple of days. I was wondering if the Mothers Milk Tea should also be a couple of days.

So this is my winning combination. 9 fenugreek pills a day (3 at a time), oatmeal for breakfast. I now get 20 oz from 4 pumps. At work I used to get 2 oz at a time (2 pumps) and now I get 4!!! I only supplement 12 oz of formula.....if I could only pump some more BUT 4/day is working well.

Thanks for that info, that is good to know, i just am a constant worrier, and i freak over the littlest things any more... i think its being a new mom that did it... before i had Vincent i didn't freak over stuff like i do now. He did eat from my right again today, and its good to know about that dominate stuff.. can't wait till he comes home maybe both of them will kick it into gear, i am doing the pumping every 3 hours and during one session i pump for 10 minutes then break, then pump again for 10 and again a break, and then a final pump for 10 to try to trick my milk ducts into gear.... so far its not working... but i have faith.... and if not, im sure formula taking the place of the right side can't be too bad. I supplement what doesn't come out of there with formula.. its what the hospital is doing now. break's over... back to the pump : )

Herelt- I also get more from my left then my right. Gabriel also perfers that side as well. I have read may times here in babyfit that babies will perfer to nurse on mothers non-dominate side. Since I am right handed that explains why he perfers the left side more. I try to offer the right side first everytime I breastfeed him. Then switch to the left. It seems to be helping. Starting to get more out of the right then normal.

that is a great increase, i still barely get 3 oz a session when i pump but i am pumping 5 -6 times a day now instead of the 4 i was. For some reason he doesn't want to eat from my right side, just my left, and my right side is the side that produces the least amount when i am pumping. to me its just weird. I talked to the lactation specialist at the hosp and she advised not to take anything until i get a chance to clear it with the doctors, that is harder done than said ;)) -- getting a hold of them anyways.

Hi Mommy : ) I didn't have any complications myself, but my little one Vincent experienced HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Event - easy breakdown : little brain deprived of oxygen for long enough for them to be worried). He was a suprise C-Section and Breech to boot. So they got him outta me and then 2 hours later they told me that he wasn't doing very well and that they were going to get him up to the Children's Hospital (i am soo grateful that they are here.. SOOO grateful) so he's been at the NICU since 3/28 and i just try to keep up on the milking. He ate from me today, friday and wednesday (this past week) tho' ... so hopefully my milk will kick in. So far he doesn't seem to like the football hold, but he does like the tummy to tummy .. im just worried about his little head. I talked to the lactation specialist today and she said before taking any herb's or supplements to make sure that it wouldn't be counter-productive to what we are doing up at the hospital. They tell me as soon as he starts to eat all his food and gain weight he can come home... so i am praying for some time next week :) WOOOOOOT!.... sorry for the caps ... just really excited.

edit because i wanted to add that i am also drinking the water .... it just seems like a lot : ))

herelt-also don't forget that your milk supply is just gertting up to where it needs to be, you've only been a mommy for a few weeks to that little fellow...let your body try on it's own for a while..actually talk to one of the lactations consultants at the hospital they're usually great. When my son, Ethan, was in the NICU the lactation constulatant was such a blessing and wealth of knowledge.

Your pics of your son brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful child. Congrats. What complications did you have if you dont mind me asking? I hope he comes home to you soon. Go to whole foods get the mothers milk tea and the pills. Take em and keep drinking 8 glasses or more of water a day and Pump. It will get up

are you all pumping the advised - minutes? or are you pumping longer ? and thank you for the information, i have been a mess since i am pumping for 1/2 hour 4 - 5 times a day and i barely get 3 oz a session... my baby's currently having a sleepover at a NICU and im trying to keep my milk supply up and i was in the pumping room today and saw another mother who got 8 oz (estimated, i didn't take measurement of her milk, just gave it the once over and dropped my jaw and about died right there) from a 10 minute pumping and just felt incredibly inadequate... it was really kinda sucky then it hit me pretty hard when i got home because i just Love the Mood Swings :p yeah, they are the best :p and i figured someone else somewhere had to have similar issues and i know it sounds dumb... but Thank You! Thank You for making a crazy woman in Utah feel better : ) im checking with the lactation specialist as soon as i can (just to make sure everything is safe for baby Vincent, and im gonna get my baby some more milk :) Thank you soo much

I wish I had engorment issues too. But I am actually doing pretty good with the More milk pills. I am pumping and freezing about 12 to 14 oz a day. My MIL took our DD yesturday. So I started pumping and now I have over 40 oz saved already. Its great.

how much do you reduce your fenugreek intake by? I was taking three capsules three times a day and was incredibly engorged so now I am trying 2 capsules three times a day. What has worked for you ladies? Anybody have engorgement issues with this supplement?

I am breastfeeding all day, but need to start pumping to get a supply built up. When is a good time to pump if she is eating all day long? Also, how long does it take to pump? When I pump to get any decent amount out it takes about 45 minutes, is my let down slow or am I just totally depleting my supply by going this long?

I am now seeing a difference. On Friday I was able to pump 5 ounces in the morning, 3 ounces at lunch, and 3 ounces in the afternoon. Then Saturday morning I woke up with hard breast and pumeped 5 ounces. I pumped again Saturday afternoon and got 2 1/2 ounces. I also fed him all day. Then right now at my morning pump I got 4 3/4 ounces. I really do think it is helping since I used to only get 3 ounces with each pump at work and on the weekends there was no additional pumping, due to that fact that I was breastfeeding. So I am feeling pretty good about the results.

ellenm,

How are you doing with the more milk. I can see a difference. This morning I woke up and my breasts felt full. I pumped really quick so we could go to breakfast and got 5 ounces. Then came home and I just pumped out 6 ounces. Granted I havent breastfed her in a couple of hours. But I am getting excited and not worried about leaving in 4 weeks. I think she will have enough milk

I think that they only help to increase you milk. I know that I am watching what I eat and make sure to eat food that are healthy. Even if I dont really like the food I am still eating them. I figure as long as I am eating really good foods and not too much junk then it should be okay. Some of us just need the little extra help to increase our milk. And I feel that herbs are better then drugs.

MommyinLove25-
I also went and picked up more milk plus. I took 2 pills last night and 2 this morning. So now I am taking the More Milk Plus, Fenugreek, Mothers Milk Tea, and eating Oatmeal every morning. Hopefully this will do the trick. My MIL is already supplementing with formula 2-3 times in the afternoons with 4-5 ounces each bottle. All the milk that I pump the day before at work (9-10 ounces) Gabriel finishes the next morning. Good luck to all of us.
Oh yeah I second that comment about the people at Whole Foods. They are so wonderful and helpful.

Just as an additional option - the woman at the health food store in my town suggested Brewer's Yeast instead of fenugreek. She nursed her 4 children so I'm giving it a try.

I went to wholefood yesturday. So I already took 3 pills. lets see if this works. I really dont want to have to give her formula.

On a tottally differnt note: the people at whole food were supper sweet and helpfull.

I called the whole foods close to me and they carry both the pill form and the liquid form of More Milk Plus....I am gonna go after work and buy it. I have been using the Fenugreek, but It does not seem to help that much. I have been taking 4 tablets 4 times a day and drinking Mothers Milk Tea 2-3 times per day. I aslo eat oatmeal in the mornings. That is supposed to help too.

I was taking More Milk Plus for awhile but found it to be so expensive. If you look at the ingredients I seem to remember it contains blessed thistle and greek fennel both can be bought as supplements.

Honestly though, I have been drinking NON-alcholic beer and keeping my supplies up just fine.

Oatmeal is also supposed really help with increasing supply.

I think it is working for me, although I have been pumping regularly for the last 2 weeks 4-5 times/day. I used to get 2 oz from both breast in a midday pump now it is closer to 4. I am also drinking the mother's milk tea.

The fenugreek is 3 pills 3 x a day. That usually does it for most people. You want your sweat to smell like syrup. I had to take 4 pills 3 x a day to get an increase. It is more than the bottle tells you to take, because it is not meant for milk increase. That is just something else it happens to do. Here is a link you can check out.

http://www.kellymom.com/herbal/m
ilksupply/fenugreek.html

It helped me more when I took it with blessed thistle and alfalfa.

Hops tincture works like a miracle!! Tastes like sh.. but oh well. Also nettles tea - yummy - is fantastic, can also be consumed in the place of some water serving all day.

And the pumping throughout the day is key to keep you going - breastmilk is a supply and demand thing.

Oh yeah - and make SURE you are getting omega 3-6-9 fatty acids - totally essential for steady milk supply. I take Coromega - and its actually yummy!!!

Eating your recommended amount of calories and getting at least 8 eight ounce glasses of water are critical to adequate milk supply. So be sure not to overlook those key elements.

I was talking to my dear mom about the supply issue and she went to the store today and bought me ALL 3 products. Since she watches the baby during the day she wants to make sure I can leave her with plenty of milk. Sooooo, where should I start?? I am tempted to start the fenugreek capsules first but how many??
Any advice from past users would be super helpful.
