I am really glad I found this thread too. I just received my hypnobabies home study course. I can't wait to start. just gotta get my CD's saved to MP3 format and load them on my i-pod so I can get going on it. I am doing a vbac and heard this program was invaluable. also heard fantastic reviews for all who used it. my only thing is my hubby isn't into any of it. he thinks that you either tolerate labor pains or you don't. in any case my sister will be attending the birth and will help me with it, but she will only have the basics so I'll have to work with making sure I can get myself in and out of the hypnosis. hoping to maybe have a doula, but not sure yet. the other thing I'm doing is reading the book active birth which basically helps with best positions to labor and deliver effectively which I think might work great in conjunction with this.
I have been blessed with two little angels. My boys are so precious.

I'm glad I found this post now as opposed to later. So, I am currently in the middle of my HypnoBirthing program. I love it. I really do. But I am interested in the Hypnobabies program as well, now that I've read all of this.
I was already worried about moving from my house to the hospital- the ride in the car was what brought out the most nerves for me. And, once getting to the hospital and having all the nurses and whatnot buzzing around me, asking me questions and all that annoying (yet necessary) stuff, if I would still be able to focus. Thanks so much for starting this post! I am excited to learn more about it!

You're welcome, TIana36 - try e-mailing Hypnobabies directly to check where else you can order or if ordering directly is a good option for you (and how much would shipping cost):
Orders@Hypnobabies.com
If you find a set that you can borrow locally - make sure that it's complete :)

Thank you all so much. Your advice has been great. I took the course on Sunday and I have to admit that I walked out feeling completely pumped about having my baby but I also know that I am an active person and my probably want to move around a lot when in labour. I still will do the hypnobirthing course as it is amazing but I was wondering what you all think of me also doing the home hypnobabies course? Do you think it would be too much or worth doing?

Tiana36 - you already got great description of Hypnobabies from two previous posters. I noticed (when researching different methods and childbirth ed classes) that moms who used both (usually Hypnobirthing for their first and Hypnobabies for their second) say that Hypnobabies was complete and that Hypnobirthing training did not help them past first stage of birthing.
I found this link with detailed description of differences between these two methods:
It was written by a mom who used both of these programs, and I think it's best to hear from other moms who experienced both of these.
Take care and let me know if you have any other questions! :)

I used Hypnobabies for my last birth and had an amazing experience. I used the home study program since the live class was not offered in my area at the time. For my first birth I did read the Hypnobirthing book, and I loved it a LOT and the ideas were so amazing to me. Then it came time for birth.... and it all went out the window (granted, I did not take a class).
I loved my Hypnobabies birth so much I became a doula and I often attend hypno-births now!! And LOVE them. I find Hypnobabies moms to be SO relaxed and able to birth their babies comfortably. For the record, I have never attended a hypnobirthing birth, but I have spoke to multiple people who have or have used it for themselves. From what I understand, the hardest part of hypnobirthing for friends I've spoken to that have used it is getting from home to hospital. They felt totally relaxed and then when it was time to go, some moms felt like they kind of "lost it" once they had to move around. The mom I do know that raves about the program after her birth did have a homebirth, so maybe she didn't have to deal with the change of location?
From the midwives I have talked to that have seen mostly hypnobirthing births (there hasn't been Hypnobabies classes available in my area up until very recently), they are very interested in Hypnobabies now that it's in our area. One told me that she thinks "it addresses some of the issues with hypnobirthing." It makes it possible to move and have an active birth, and get to the hospital, without loosing your hypnosis and calm!
Happy Birthing!!

Thanks heaps for the advice. Is there a big difference between hypnobirthing and hypno babies?

I would suggest researching ( Google-ing) birthing experiences of moms using different childbirth hypnosis methods. When I prepared for my pregnancy - a lot of Hypnobirthing moms warned me that they did not have enough tools to keep them relaxed and comfortable during transition and pushing stage.
That is why I decided to try Hypnobabies - I really liked the idea of being able to talk and move if needed and to be able to keep hypno-anesthesia in the same time.
That is a unique Hypnobabies feature, and it's called "Eyes Open Childbirth Hypnosis". My midwife mentioned several times (during our postpartum check up) how amazed she was and even asked me to talk to some of her new patients about it.
Whichever method you end up using, I would suggest talking to a doula (esp. one that has experience with hypno-births) - and researching what you can bring with you to the hospital to help make it an amazing experience ! :)
Hints: birthing ball, flameless candles, aromatherapy, relaxing music, and birth support team :)

Hi, I have signed myself up for a hypnobirthing class as I would love to have as natural a labour as possible, but I would really love other peoples experiences regarding hypnobirthing. I am really keen to try relaxation throughout the journey. If you have any information that would be wonderful.
