Not sure what you decided, since it's already Tuesday, but if you have back up, I'd use it. As long as everything in the daycare is cleaned and the girl who had it has been shampooed and cleaned then it should be okay. There is still a slight chance, but really it's not that easy to get lice unless they are sharing things like pillows, combs, hats scrafs, that sort of thing. That's why lice is so much more prone in the winter time.

Letting one kid slide with the rules is a slippery slope, but I suppose that's the daycares choice and not too much you can do about it. Hopefully the breakout was just a one time/child thing and noone else gets it. Oh yeah I think lice can only live for 24hrs if not on the body.

Ok.. havent had to deal with lice.... and am hoping I don't have to .. but apparently one of the kids from the dayhome that DD attends has lice(found over the weekend).... the lady who runs the dayhome has checked her kids a million times -- so far they are free and clear -- she has washed and dried all the sheets and toys, etc etc -- basically done what she can in case there is a stray egg.

My questions are:
DD is home with me today (Monday)... but she was going to be there Tues Wed and Fri of this week -- should I keep her home to make sure there are no outbreaks at dayhome?? (I can always get my mom to help out so there is no worry about work conflict for me)

How long should the lice kid be quarantined for??? I have read that you treat the hair and pick the nits.. but then wait 7 days to treat the hair again to kill any leftover nits that may have hatched in that 7 day period.. and then you can be sure that your child is lice free -- the woman who has the little girl with teh lice found on the weekend.. was just going to shampoo her hair and probably send her back to daycare tomorrow.. I think that is too early.. and I dont want to risk my DD getting lice.

Daycare lady is worried about turining thi slittle girl away until we are absolutely sure the lice is gone.. because she knows that mom has no care back up and mom has to work -- but I think daycare lady should stick to the rules of better to be safe than sorry... and should wait until at least a week before that little girl comes back
Any suggestions?????
