Yup, it's that time, independant toddler here we come, lol. We've been reading a book to DD about being a big sister, since we're having another one soon. It talks all about what she can do cause she's big and what the baby can't do cause it's small. So now she tells us how she can do certain things because she's big, but then if it's something she doesn't want to do she says "No, mommy I too small.", lol. It's so funny to hear the things that come out of their mouths sometimes.

I like the "teamwork" thing- we watch wonderpets so she'll get that. I'm trying to figure out where she learned the expression "all by myself" b/c I didn't teach her that. I understand this is part of being a toddler, but where in the world did she learn the words??? BTW, Jenna thinks that she can do anything and everything by herself around here. Sometimes cute and funny... (but not always :)
PS- Jenna has never said "me do it" she always says "I do it" Again, where did she learn that??? the kid baffles me with what she comes up with :)

Yup.. Ive got Miss Me Do It over here too.... and sometimes it takes FOREVER to get out the door because she has to put on her shoes herself and her own clothes... and open the door ... and get into her car seat... sigh.... on the days when we arent in a hurry I can just sit off to the side to encourage her... but when we are in a hurry.. it is maddening!!!!!

I have Miss Independent over here. She chooses her clothes and shoes. She'll throw a fit if I choose and will take it off anyway. There are some days when she's wearing some funky outfits with her blue rubber rain boots on a sunny day. She has to put on her shoes. She's been climbing into her car seat for awhile and gets upset if we try to help. She opens and closes all the doors. She's been trying with the keys but is still too short. She has to open her diaper for diaper changes. She also tells me sometimes that I'm wrong when labeling something she is pointing to in a book or on the street. She'll even argue with me!
She has so many little quirks going on right now that I'm just letting her have her say with the more harmless issues and promote independence, but it really feels like I have a teenager among us.

is anyone else going through this phase? I can't do anything for the child anymore! She has to climb into the car and car seat (even when I'm in a hurry ARG!). She gets upset if I put on her shoes. She even wants to use my key to open the car door and again she tells me not to help! I told her she couldn't open the door by herself with a key yet and she told me "OK Ms. Bossy Head!" and when I said no again she says "OK, grouchy!"
That child! I wanted to discipline her for talking to me that way, but I was too busy laughing! : )
