If he's trying to get frustration out, then it might be best just to let him. He won't hurt himself, and he'll eventually grow out of it.

lol, I don't think the spray bottle thing will work.. he's not a cat. It may distract him from what he's doing at the time but he'll do it again out of habit. My babe doesn't hit himself in the head but does bang it against the wall and says "ow" just to be cute. I think its a stage and he'll grow out of it.

Thanks for the advice. I started to wet him with a spray bottle when he does it and it has been working.

definately a frustration thing. Little ones dont know how to release their frustration properly. So by smacking themselves or others, is a way of releasing it. Just try to help bubs find other ways of releasing their frustration.

Kassidy hits herself in the head alot too, especially when she is tired or grumpy. I don't really have any suggestions but wanted to let you know you aren't alone.
My husband used to bang his head against the wall and he turned out ok...

Help my 14 month old is hitting himself when he doesn't get his way or when he is tired, etc. Is there anyone's LO out there doing the same thing? I have heard about tantrums, but never hitting their self. He doesn't see anyone get hit, so I don't know where he got the idea.
