We give the baby D-vi-sol which is just vit. D. He doesn't seem to mind, his daddy gives him a dropper full every morning and I honestly think baby likes it. It is doing him no harm, and since he only gets BM, he does not know the difference between bland and boring, to sweet and tasty!

Yes, breastmilk should indeed provide most of what babies need, but starting at 6 months they need additional iron since the supply they are born with starts to run out.

If you think it smells bad, did you actually TASTE them? Urrrrrrgh. Murder, I meant it.

I put the drops away for now - those were suggested if the iron-fortified cereal didn't work out (about 1/2 cup per day), but since I started mixing it with pears or apricots, he asks for more!

We bought some of that expensive stuff and noticed #1 how bad it smelled and #2 I think it didn't help Dylan's gas problems either!!

I am BF and the doc said to use it but we haven't given anymore to him. I thought breastmilk was the prefect food anyway?!?!?

Dylan is 21 months now and is talking ALL the time...puting words together.
It all happened as planned!!!!!

she was prescribed tri vi sol when she was born...just for the pure fact that she doesn't get vit D from bm, but if bm is all nutaral and perfect for babies....i'm not so sure that she needs it. Every parent here that I've talked to said it stinks and it gave their babies bad painful gas...we have all stopped...if fact, one time was enough for me.

Lillian Averille Friis was born 04/05/06 naturally at 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 22 inches long. We are so much happier than we ever dreamed we could be. Aila Song was also born naturally on 04/08/08 at 8lbs. 2 oz and 21 inches.

Is it just me or does that stuff taste like murder?? Even the dog looked at me really funky and ran away after she licked a drop off my hand. I was told it's a good supplement for babies if the iron-fortified cereal doesn't go down too well (which is no longer a problem since I started mixing it with fruit). I tried it, like everything else I give (or plan to give) Charles. No way on this one. Yikkes.
