there have been lots of babies born that were big. i would ask more in the cafe so you would get a wider audience to ask this question to.

My second son was born weighing 11 lbs. 5 oz. I had a c-section because he was too big to come out after an hour of trying to push. I've heard of people having big babies naturally but I wouldn't! Think of what that might do to your vagina! OUCH!

Hi all, I'm concerned I'm going to have c-section, as the baby is quite large. I'm 31 weeks, and the baby is around 34 weeks big. This is my third pregnancy. My first son was 9lb 1/2oz 2 weeks early (induced due to my health and his size)... vaginal birth 8 hours, quite easy tho had to be cut as his big head just wasn't coming out. Second preg wasn't successful at 18 weeks. My doc says if it's going to be around the 11 pound (like he estimates), he recommends c-section as the shoulders may get stuck. Any thought?

Life is not measured by the amount of breaths we take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

i wouldn't worry about the size. like thelace said she had her daughter naturally at close to 8 and a half and my son weighed in at 10lbs. 10ozs. at birth. i had him naturally as well no c-section for me. i only tore a tiny bit and only needed two stitches. i think the big ones are better off because they are going to lose weight in the hospital. so this way they still have a heads up on the weight thing. also they are just so cute with all their litle fat rolls..lol.

Nightwolf...about the size of the baby, I just had one close to 8 1/2 naturally and Babyspawn had 10.10 naturally as well...it is very doable so try not to worry and enjoy the rest of pregnancy.
About the names question....I really like the girl's name you've picked and honoring your daughter. I was, however wondering if you knew what Lucifer Damien meant though. Lucifer is the name of the devil before he was cast out of heaven and Damien is a derivative of devil...just thought I should let you know, I would want to. Goodluck!
Lillian Averille Friis was born 04/05/06 naturally at 8 lbs. 5 oz. and 22 inches long. We are so much happier than we ever dreamed we could be. Aila Song was also born naturally on 04/08/08 at 8lbs. 2 oz and 21 inches.

I've been doing the sex thing, tons of walking and raspberry leaf tea. I've heard hot showers help speed things up, castor oil (no more than 2 oz at a time unless you want to sit on the pot all day), and blue cohosh work as well.
Daniel Alan was born on April 16th - 8 days early. He was 6 lbs 6 oz. and 19 inches long.
Matthew Scott arrived on Nov. 27. 2007. He was 1 week and 6 days early! He weighed 6 lbs 10 oz and was 18 inches long.

I've actually heard from a few people that sex worked for them. Some said, "every baby, it worked". But apparently, it has to be good sex, for you too. There's something in semen that can stimulate the cervix into dilation. So you could give it a try. We didn't, because DH is scared of hurting the baby, even though I know he won't. I'm glad he's concerned though. I tried jalapenos, long walks, and no luck yet. Good luck and hope it's soon for you! -Lanae
