Thanks for suggesting the Vicks Vaporub under the nose. I hadn't thought of that. Good idea! (I am sick *again*)

It seems that since I found out I was pregger, my nose was been stuffed up. I find that it is worse at night. Having a shower in the morning clears things up and I feel a lot better. If I miss the shower I am stuffed all day.

I got a cold after Thanksgiving, which turned into a sinus infection, and now I have been sneezing for two days and have a sore throat. I sound like a man who smokes too much, and the sneezes are big and loud, cuz I can't hold them in anymore.

Thanks again! You are right we will need one in the near future. I bet you are getting really excited....only a couple months to go. I have been so excited since we found out that we are pregnant.....I can only imagine how it must feel to be a couple months out. Is there anything that you wish you had known before that would have helped you? Thanks again!!! I need all the help I can get.

One of the girls above said a humidifier works great. I know when I was sick a couple weeks ago, that's all I wanted because I was so congested. Hot, dry air can make the symptoms worse, its probably not possible for you (I had a space heater in my room so I just turned it down) but try turning heat down a bit? Otherwise see if the humidifier helps. Heck you'll need one in the long run anyway :)

Thanks for the info. What else can I do for her at home to make her feel better. I hate not being able to help.....I want to do whatever I can. What about a humidifier?

Your wife should be able to just ask her doctor. He/she will be able to tell her the safe medicines to use for it :)
Benadryl is also safe (it always works for me as a decongestant).

i haven't tried this myself, but my naturopath highly recommends tablets called "Oregasin" (oregano-based) and supossedly you don't keep burping the lovely scent after (mmmm...!). You can find them in health food stores.
Personally i use a saline water solution, or sometimes rub a bit of 'Secaris' (nasal gel that is SAFE) inside my nose. And drink looooots of water!! it's the best decongestant.

Sheilah I'm doing the same thing! Its the only time I've had morning sickness. Its always when I wake up and it shifts into my throat and I try to cough it up and end up getting sick. I have been rubbing vicks vapor rub under my nose and that works wonders!

I occassionally take sudafed and like Heather I will use nosespray at night if I am to stuffed up to sleep....but I use the spray only at night if I am real bad.

I, too, was told by my doctor that sudafed is safe. I had horrible congestion in my first pregnancy and with this one. It gets to a point where, when I get up in the morning, all the congestion shifts and I cough until I am sick. My doctor prescribed Zurtec this time. I took it for a month and it helped greatly.

I have to use a nose spray because nothing else seems to work when I have a serious sinus issue. I only take it at night when I REALLY can't breathe.

I would ask your obgyn what meds they authorize using, but mine says Sudafed (PLAIN, not PE or any other special kind) is fine. Just stick to the recommended dose. Also, saline nasal spray is okay. That's not Afrin, it's actually not medicated -- just like salt-water-ish. It works really well, I've found. Also, a vaporizor in your bedroom at night works wonders. If you buy the Vicks menthol liquid to put in it, it sends mentholyptus vapors in your room, too, along with the water, which is good for breathing (a highly recommended activity, I've found! ;) )
Hope this helps. Lots of warm liquids and water and OJ, and I hope you feel better!

I know this has been disceussed but any idea how I can safely get rid of sinus pressure. I've had it all through the holidays and it's getting worse. Thanks for the help!
