i was induced both times. the first i was two weeks early with no dialation so they did the cervidol(sp)monday night to soften the cervix-doesn't hurt just a little uncomfy like the exams an then the pitocin the next morning. with my second i was 2cm an 7 days late so we did the pitocin again. what it did for me was make the contractions stronger an they came fast. i went natural an i swear the contrations hurt worse than the pushing an the nurse said that was most likely due to the pitocin. good luck if you do get induced. the good part with that is no 3 am rush to the hospital

not sure the method, i guess i didnt realize there more than one. I will have to ask about that when I have the pre-inducing session with my doctor.

yeah it depends. they may put the cervidil (sp) gel on your cervix to soften it and that may be enough to get you going. or they may hook you up to the pitocin which will induce contractions. or they may break your water and see if that will get you stronger contractions. or (as in my case) they may do a combo of all of the above. for me the gave me the gel then they put me on pitocin. then they broke my water. i ended up with an emergency c section after 17 hrs bc teh baby wasnt tolerating the labor well. turned out she had flipped breach. but generally speaking if you get induced the labor is quicker.

IT depends on the method by which you were induced. Do you know how they are going to go about it?
