Thanks for the info - I have had no bleeding etc which has made me feel somewhat better (although in both my other pregnancies my water never broke I had really low lying babies and their bags of water came out after them actually my second's bag was almost still intact behind him). I will check in with the MD office this afternoon and confirm with her what my symptoms are etc.... Thanks again....

Well, Im 29 weeks will be 30 weeks this thursday. And tonight I was having those almost exact same problems as you are. I was having backaches that spread into my lower abdomen making my stomach very hard ( having contractions) and I was feeling more pain in my back then in my stomach. I was feeling much pressure in my stomach but more pain in my back, and then at times when I would have these contractions I would feel the urge to push but wouldn't. I am already half a centimeter dilated. And I also took a hot bath and tylenol and heating pad, which made my pains ease up a little but didnt make them go away. So, I called my doctor, and she told me that I just needed to time the contractions to see how many I had in an hour take a hot bath tylenol and a heating pad which was all the things I had already done. So, she told me to drink about 3 glasses of real cold ice water, and try to lay down a bit and relax. So, maybe if you tried ya know getting a tylenol (extra strength)and taking it then getting you a huge glass of ice water and go sit in a hot bath, and while laying in there drink your water and just relax maybe a hot bubble bath something scented to help you relax. Also, my doctor has told me before that spread around your hips and near your groin is just like a muscular ache from standing up to fast or turning around to quick or something like that can cause those pains. And the only thing that could help was Extra Strength Tylenol and hot bath. Let me ask you a question. Are you having any bleeding? And have any of your last 2 children been C-Sections? Because if you have had any bleeding (not to scare you) it could be a number of things as in your placenta could be coming unattached or rupturing of the uterus and things like that. So, just to be on the safe side I would call my MD and let her know whats going on. And dont feel dumb about calling your MD every pregnancy is different so you should treat each one of them like its your first no matter how many pregnancies you have had in the past. Keep us posted and let us know what the MD said.

Heather, I was visiting from the April board and just wanted to ask about your preterm labour symptoms. I am 24 wks with my third, I am a nurse in a very busy ICU, my kids are 5 and 3 so as you know we are busy this time around. Sat night I started having backaches like PMS aches, I slept most of the night although occassionally a twinge would wake me, then Sun am went grocery shopping well the backache became worse like I was expecting a heavy period and spread around my hips to my groin - I almost couldn't stand up straight, I took a hot bath, Tylenol and a heating pad and then went to bed still quite uncomfortable, Monday through to today I just find as soon as I start to get motivated to do something some of the pain returns - not as bad as Sun but enough to make me sit down, I feel dumb calling my Dr as this is my 3rd and I don't have regular contractions per say but I definitely had no PMS like craming and pains before. Both my previous babes I was off work by 30 wks because of high blood pressure so far that is ok.... I just thought I would ask someone who has experienced preterm labour before I call my MD tomorrow....

Hi heather- I'm 26 weeks and have been having issues with pre-term labor for the last few weeks. My cervix is effaced but it hasnt thinned out. I was still closed at last check but I'm taking ibuprofen and turbtaline several times a day to keep my contractions under control.
Someone else mentioned to me that they can do a cerclage where they stick a stich in your cervix to keep it closed. They said it didnt hurt or anything ( i guess they give you a spinal)
anyways- goo dluck- I know it can be scary.

Hi Heather,

This is my second, but I didn't have any pre-term issues with my first, nor have I had any with this one, so far. I just wanted to say take care of yourself and keep us posted, you are in my prayers.

Hello, well im not stressing too much about it, but I have had alot of complications with this pregnancy and almost had to deliver a couple weeks ago because the Doc. found a blood clot the size of a softball behind the placenta and the placenta was detaching, but then it started going away and is gone now. I have been in pre-term labor since I was around 22-23 weeks along with this pregnancy but they keep stoping it with Brethine and some other drug. And now Im starting to dilate. But I will keep you posted, I have a doctors appt next wednesday. I probably will have gained 10 pnds with Christmas coming up in a couple days...lol..Oh and by the way, I noticed you were naming your daughter Aaliyah Niqole, I just wanted to let you know that is a beatiful name. My daughter's name is Kinsley Aaliyah...lol..How ironic..lol

Yeah I agree with you about the doctors keeping me. But my doctor was kind of skeptical about me dilating but she went ahead and sent me home with a uterus relaxer that stopped my contractions and told me if things resumed to call her and she would have me to come up back up there.

Hi Heather. I don't have this experience but I just want to say good luck and keep us posted. I agree that if they were afraid something would happen very soon that they'd have kept you.

IF IT WAS SERIOUS YOUR DOCTOR WOULDN'T HAVE LET YOU GO HOME. ALTHOUGH YOU KNOW THINGS TEND TO HAPPEN EARLIER WITH MOTHERS WHO HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE. I WOULDN'T WORRY UNLESS YOU START CONTRACTING IN A PATTERN. ( EVER 5 TO 7 ) MIN. THEN I WOULD CALL DOC. I WAS DIALATED TO A 3 FOR 4 WEEKS WITH MY SECOND ONE. GOOD LUCK AND KEEP US POSTED.

Hi my name is Heather. I am 29 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child (a boy). I started having contractions and so I went to L&D and they checked me and I was a fingertip dilated but wasnt thinned out but like a small percentage. Also, they told me the baby was breech and so I had to go to the doctor this morning for a cervical length ultrasound, and they told me that the baby had turned and was in head down position. So, I was just wondering if anyone had experienced dilating early like this or if it was ok and if it was weird that the baby was breech yesterday and head down position this morning, and if it meant this was a sign of premature labor since im already dilating and the baby has already went head down?? the doctors didnt really give me any info so I need some from you guys if you dont mind. Thanks you.
