Wow! We have the exact same baby!!! I am up every morning from 3-6 with my little guy grunting and moaning IN HIS SLEEP!!!! This exact same thing happened with my first too. They were both big spitters. I think it's just an immature digestive system. I am hoping time will heal it. I really don't do a ton of dairy products anyways.... Let me know if you find something that works!!! Mylacan doesn't do much for me. Earplugs help!

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forver to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

Yeah, i def. think its an issue with dairy, coupled with an immauter gut...without thinking i ate a HUGE thing of pudding last night during a move with dh around 9pm, Gavin was up at 2 for a feeding, and at 4 he was all kinds of gassy, grunting, crying, spitting up...so i have to watch the dairy i guess, Mia was sensitive to it too for the first few months, she would just spit up ALOT!

It's been a while but I remember that Tommy was kind of grunting at night too. He didn't usually cry at night but was restless and grunting and since I couldn't sleep thinking he'll be waking up soon, I didn't want to wait for him to start crying so I would feed him and he was good again. I'm not 100% sure but it could be colic. I think some babies could have it worse then others and if you say he's more mellow maybe he just doesn't cry much even though he's in pain? I used to thought that Tommy was colicky too but he never really cry for hours but I think all babies go thru that gassy or kind of colicky period and there isn't much that could help him. I'd say watch what you eat (I think you are breastfeeding) to make sure you don't eat much gassy foods, although I know it's hard because almost everything has something "bad" in it. I think the warm bath and the belly rub couldn't hurt either.

A massage sounds like it's working. Try a warm bath, and a massage before bed ( like just before his last feed ) and see if that works.
Kai was a bit the same as a baby and we ended up having to bath him every night - but it worked so we didn't mind.
I dont think it's colic - he'd be screaming at you hours on end if it was ...
