I always find out. I feel like I have to give the baby a name and be prepared for what I'm having as soon before the birth as possible. So far none of my babies have been shy about letting us know.

Today is Cody's birthday! He has had a blast! It has been so much fun today. He keeps singing happy birthday to himself and it is too cute. We are having a "Curious George" party for him on Saturday, so more fun to come. My baby is 3!! I told my husband this morning how 3 years ago today our lives we about to be changed beyond what we could imagine! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CODY!

I'm not that down about him being 3 now maybe because I have another baby to look forward to soon but I'm more upset about my first baby turning 10. OMG she's already acting like a teenager and its getting very scary.

I'm sorry it has you down
It's weird....Amelia being a baby seems so long ago. I think I'm enjoying her being older now because she is so much more expressive and is being so creative and it's fun to see her learn and be excited about the world around her. What is REALLy had is imagining that Merrick is almost 1! Seems like yesterday I brought him home, though I am happy he is starting to be more of a playmate (sort of anyway) to his sister.

Is anyone else bummed out about out LOs turning 3?!?! I can't believe it. It makes me sad. Looking at pics from this summer when I had Abby, Cody looked much more 'baby-ish' than he does now. He is getting a lot taller and has no 'baby' look to him. He is a lot of fun at this age, but he was my baby and now he is a big boy (He is not a boy he is 'a man' as he told me today!) Just feeling down.....:(

just wanted to bump this thread up again and see how you are all doing?
I've discovered that Ash can get citizenship in NZ, so its just me that has to apply for a visa, very glad about this as not sure she'd appreciate being poked and prodded for a medical and i'd get stressed if she was misbehaving, this way all she has to do is smile for the camera - much easier, shes had plenty of practice at that! DP is doing well at uni (another 2 projects in today) it won't be long now til he finishes the course, hes been looking up education and work opportunities in NZ and has created a 10 year plan as part of his coursework, this is great for me as it means i know what hes aiming for and can figure out how we fit in around it (i had to broach a discussion with him last year because i had no idea what he was aiming to get out of his qualification, and it turned out he had very little idea either) We still have tonnes of belongings to be rid of before we go, i have no idea how we are going to clear this place! Plus we've had no luck so far rehoming the cats, and to top that off Ashley is getting really attached to them, she now knows all their names and calls them for cuddles, awwwww.

Austin was a good time, though I am thoroughly exhausted, even a week after getting back! I was fortunate, the resort had a "kid's club" geared towards parents who want to leave their kids there so they can golf or go to the spa. I asked if I could take the kids into the club to play, but attended by me (so I didn't have to pay) and they said it was OK. I also took the kids to the Austin Children's museum, which was really nice.
Funny about NZ...we watched the new (OK new for us since we never go to the movie theater anymore) Narnia movie on DVD last night and my DH and I agreed we would LOVE to live in NZ where the film was shot. It is so beautiful.

Where are you moving to Seabee? Are you making the move to NZ?
Ah, I am glad I got the potty rebellion out of the way up front :) Amelia has been accident free for 3-4 months and that includes at night. I am so glad not to have to deal with two little behinds in diapers!
So we are off to Austin for 4 days. My DH has a conference at this nice spa and resort and his boss said to take us along since it won't cost them any more to accomidate us in the hotel with him. I am excited to go back...we haven't lived there in over 8 years. I will get a chance to see a friend I haven't seen since we moved away from Texas and then came back. My only hesitance is deciding what I will do with 2 kids in a hotel for almost a week. There is a children's museum there and a ton of walking trails around the resort...so hopefully I can keep everyone from going too stir crazy.

i think i just looked at the santa picture on facebook, cute kiddies!
We are still plodding along working towards our BIG move. I've been reading the updates on here but not posting much as not much to say.
Ash is a real chatterbox, it really excentuates how quiet i am! i can barely get a word in when she starts LOL
Potty training went completely to pot, shes a stubborn girl and i think she must have been talking to her friends at nursery and discovered there can be sweeties in this deal!!!
i'm noticing a growth spurt with ash, i suddenly have another pile of trousers that are too short in the legs, oh well at least its less to pack when we move!

Ah, picture day. I've totally avoided formal pictures because we've only ever done them once on our own and twice at daycare and it is near impossible to get Amelia to smile. We just did Santa pictures spontaneously at the mall today. The good news is that neither cried...the bad news is neither of them smiled either. They look as though someone is holding them for ransom...though it was pretty cute nonetheless!

Well, picture day didn't go as well as I had hoped. I had tried to schedule our appointment around her nap and eating time. However, she woke up an hour earlier than normal which threw us off schedule and then we had to wait about 30 minutes once we got there. So, my baby who will usually smile constantly if you talk to her or look her way, wouldn't smile for anything and kept trying to suck her thumb in between poses and go to sleep. And Cody was tired too. He was helping hold her up and he kept pushing her saying "Mommy, you hold her - I don't want to anymore." Oh, well!!!!!! I will try to post some of the pics to my album.
KARBABY - congrats on the boy!!!! They are lots of fun :)

Congrats on the boy Bedhead. I guess your poor daughter will be outnumbered by boys :)
BadGirl...it's no wonder you are tired. SHEESH! Sounds like you are ultra busy. All I can say is if you are able to, find some time to relax a little. You'll find as this pregnancy goes along you will be even MORE tired. It's just the nature of the beast when you are trying to keep up with a toddler and when you have another on the way. I totally hear you on the bossy thing...what's up with THAT? I get all day "mommy needs to _____". Fill in that blank with any random request! We are trying really hard to get her to say "will you please _____?" Yesterday Amelia demanded that I put on a hairband and a hairbow like SHE was wearing so we could both look like Cinderella :)

Grace,
Great to know things are going well. I applaud you with being able to keep up with 2 little ones! Wowweee!
I hope everyone is doing well. I know we are all very busy since all of our little ones are not so little anymore and are bossing us around. LOL
I'm just trying to deal with the fatigue of the 1st trimester and trying to be there for Sydney who wants to talk and talk and talk and call my name 50,000 times in 30 seconds.
I'm desparately trying to find time to finish my thesis but it's hard when you commute 3 hours a day and I work a second job on some weekends. Times are tough and we need the extra money. No credit cards this Christmas, cash only!
I miss everyone too and I really hope everyone is braving the tough economic times. I just thank God every month I still have my house.
Talk to you guys later. Hugs and kisses to all the little ones.

Sorry this thread fell to the wayside. I do really miss talking to everyone. I know I've been keeping up with a bunch of Feb 06 mommies via Facebook. Being home with both kids full time I feel as though I hardly ever have any time to myself or to be online. I hate feeling so out of touch. Amelia is constantly on the go and wanting to do and see and learn anything she can. Merrick has been crawling for 3 months now and is on the cusp of walking...so he gets into EVERYTHING and between the both of them I'm either trying to keep one or the other entertained and out of things they shouldn't be in....all while trying to keep up with the housework and just general "family business" that needs to be taken care of during the week.
Aside from all of the family hustle and bustle, I've signed myself up for a Graduate certificate program that I will be doing online starting in January. If all goes well I will finish it within a year. I'm hoping it will provide a little intellectual stimulation and keep me marketable once I do finally go back to work...whenever that is.
In great news, I was able to find some inexpensive tickets for our family to take a trip back to Boston in January. I am really excited to see my family and let Merrick's cousins meet him for the first time.

Thanks Super! She is a doll for sure! Of course, all of our Feb babies are beauties! We haven't been up to too much that is interesting. It's starting to get cooler here, so finally we can be outside for more than 5 minutes without getting drenched in the humidity. Work is crazy and stressing me out as usual.

Hiya Toots! My lord Ellie is such a beautifull little lady! They grew up so fast, didn't they? I totally agree though - it's so much fun to have a conversation with Nicky now - and to actually have him understand things makes it so much easier. So what have you been up to lately?

Can you believe no one posted on this thread for a whole month?! We have to do better. It's been such a busy time for us and I haven't had much time to jump on. Things are good here. I also keep marveling at the fact that I no longer have a baby or really a toddler...I have a little girl who can carry on a conversation! It is wonderful. I'll have to take a minute to check out your pics soon. Right now, I'm off to throw in a load of laundry and get ready for tomorrow. Goodnight!

I'm glad you found a midwife you like. You will have to share your home birth experience with us. It really must be comforting not to worry about having to leave home to deliver.
Well today is offical, I'm 0 and 3 on the job front. I have to say it's left me feeling like a loser! I've never been passed over by so many jobs all at once. I have to say with that many interviews, in the past anyway, I was at least offered one position. I have a feeling with the last one I was vying for I think pay was the biggest contention. They so much as said to my recruiter at one point before the interviewing was all said and done that they could get someone with the same experience for cheaper. Same experience...doubtful...cheaper, probably. If pay was their bottom line, then more power to them I guess.
I actually got an e-mail from one of the consulting agencies that I worked for in Boston. The client I did work for in Boston is looking for a business analyst. I knew for a fact they had people working remotely from other places in the country when I worked on a project for them. I asked the agency if they were willing to at least ask if the client would like to work with me again, only this time remotely and it seems they are looking for people who can be in the office, at least at this point of their project work, but they also said should that change that they will let me know.
In the meantime, I guess I just need to worry about moving yet again and enjoying what's left of the summer!

Amelia is so awesome! I hope M has the same reaction to this one... fingers are crossed.
Yes, home birth is the plan! It gets more exciting as it gets closer to imagine not having to figure out when to leave for the hospital, not having to pack a bag, not having the stress of being on the hospital's schedule... all of it. And our midwife is great.
I have a few friends that are in incredibly frustrating job searches... all highly qualified people with great work experience, too. I'm sorry you're in that situation - it can really make you question things that you shouldn't need to think about.
Something from home w/o selling is hard to find! I've been really lucky... I just happened to be tapped into this performing arts world and have some opportunities that have stuck around for many years now. Do you think any of your old workplaces would want you back as a long-distance consultant? I've heard of that happening, but I have no experience with it myself.
Yoga/ACE sounds pretty cool! Even if it didn't end up being your new career, you'd have another option for part-time work in the meantime. I really liked the Power Pilates training/methodology, and I must say it's been really nice to have the option to teach when I feel like it, even if the $ is only OK.

That is so cute. Amelia LOVES her baby brother...sometimes a little too much! We have to constantly remind her that she can't hug him too hard or that he doesn't exactly enjoy her constantly poking and pinching his chubby cheeks (she says "you are so cute, buddy"). She tries to share her drink cup and her Goldfish with him and we have to constantly remind her that he is too little to have those things right now. It's really fun to see them interact now because he is at the age that he is really getting a kick out of her entertaining him. She will lay on the floor with him and bring him toys or dance in front of him while he is in his walker toy. He just giggles endlessly at her...well until she does something like push his face into the carpet (not too sure why she likes to do it but she knows it always gets her in trouble..yet she still does it!)
On the new house front, we are scheduled to close on 08/22 and plan to move in slowly between then and the end of the month. It really is pretty cool to get to go through the new home building process. We got to choose the lot, how the home was situated on the lot and of course a lot of the interior decorating was according to our choice (cabinets, counters, etc). We go once a week to check on the progress and we bring the kids with us. We are trying to get Amelia used to the idea that it is a place that we will all be moving too soon. She knows which room will be hers and which will be Merrick's. I hope the transition goes well since it was less than a year ago that we uprooted her from Boston to come here. She already calls our rental house "Amelia's house" so we keep telling her we are building her a new one!
So, did you decide for sure that you are going to do a home birth?
In other news, I have been interviewing for a few jobs and so far haven't been offered even one job. In a sense it is disappointing, if only for that feeling of rejection, but at the same time, maybe a sign that I need to stay home with the little ones a little longer :) I am now toying around with the idea of becoming certified to teach yoga. There is a place in Houston that is certified with the Yoga Alliance that holds intensive teacher training courses. The course offered is a 7 day course and the classes run pretty much from 8-5 all 7 days. I thought it would be a pretty cool thing to get into...I could keep in shape (or maybe that's GET back into shape), do something I enjoy and be able to stay home with the kids. I figure if I can find somewhere that I can teach an early morning class before my DH goes to work and then maybe a couple of evening classes that I could earn money and still be with the little ones during the day. Of course the classes are not cheap. I also considered getting ACE certified on top of it, so as to make myself more marketable. Their training can be done online and self paced. The only thing above their course that I'd have to do is get my CPR certification renewed (my Red Cross certification ran out a couple of years back). It is an exciting prospect, but would need some start up money and I still have to feel out what kind of demand for yoga teachers there is in my area. I keep trying to be creative and find things I can do from home...well that don't involve me selling anything!

We're all doing OK... little Miss M is very excited about her baby brother, and has a very long list of things she plans on teaching him. I think she'll be disappointed once he gets here and she realizes the cats are probably easier to teach about the potty, or eating a banana without peeling the whole skin off, or how to dress yourself (3 things from her list) than this baby, but I'm enjoying her enthusiasm while it's here.
Congratulations on your house! That sounds incredibly exciting. We live in a 90 year old house, and it's hard to imagine being able to start fresh. When do you expect to be able to move in?

Thanks for thinking of me Tootie! Downtown Houston is about an hour or so from the coast and I live about 30 minutes from downtown. We got a bunch of rain, but nothing that the grass and plants didn't need!
Sorry I've been MIA. I've been interviewing (no job offers yet) and getting ready for the move to the new house next month. We did a garage sale this past weekend and made a profit of about $350. The stuff that was still in really good shape but did not sell I put up on eBay. I'm hoping to make enough to get the things we will need for the new house (some ceiling fans and lighting that didn't come with the new house and would have been pricier to pay the builder to put in).
Merrick is on the verge of crawling now, which is insane for a 5 month old baby! He never stays in place for very long. He is extremely active.
Hope everyone is doing well :)

I am so wasting time when I should be cleaning and packing. We are leaving tomorrow for PA/NJ. It's an 18 hour/2 day drive and we're not even remotely packed up yet. So of course, I'm on babyfit.
We've had some bad storms here in Iowa. Luckily, we weren't affected by all the flooding. But the other night we had a storm with 70 mph winds and a tornado warning at 3 am. NOt much fun waking 2 babies to head down to the basement. Especially since the all clear was about 10 minutes later. Lots of downed limbs though and a neighbors tree split in half, but no damage so that's good.
OK, enough procrastination...I've got to get myself moving here! I'm excited to go since none of my sisters or brother have seen Caitlyn and I have one new nephew and another new nephew who is coming on Friday. My sister is 4 days overdue and when they measured the baby he is 9 lbs 9 oz and his head measured off the charts (whatever that means), but she's scheduled for a c-section on Friday. Keep her in your thoughts please!

That does suck donkey balls for sure! LOL
I think you did the right thing locking in now. But, I bet they do go low again and it will be worth it to refinance in a year or so. That sucks that you can't lock in the rate when you sign the contract to build.

Aw Tootie, I'm sorry the work stress is getting you down. It is the one thing that makes me not want to be back working! I went on an interview for another job today, so now I have the potential of TWO job offers...and not sure whether I'll take either!
We found out our house is closing on 08/22. The bad news is that mortgage rates are completely in the crapper now that the Fed is going to have to bail out Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac due to their volume of defaulted loans. What that means for me is that in ONE WEEK the interest rates have jumped almost a full point. As they'd say on South Park, "that sucks donkey balls". We chose to lock in at 45 days out. They normally suggest you lock in rates at 21 days, but I just could not risk the rates going any higher. The loan officer said that this week's rates were "reactionary" to the bad press and there was a possible chance they could normalize....BUT there was no guarantee. The thing that sucks about new construction is you can't lock into a mortgage until just before it is done. Had we gone with a resale house back in May we would have gotten a better rate....but it is all a gamble. UGH. I can only hope in the future the rates go low again and I can refinance. Somehow I think I shouldn't hold my breath!

Ah...Merc, it sounds like a dream. I think for me it's not so much working and being away for 3 days a week (because I do like the interaction with co-workers), its the stress of the job that is always with me. Today I've gotten 2 calls from work with some pretty major stuff going on that needed my attention. I just resent when work stress and issues impose on my time with family. Like after work on the weekdays when I'm thinking about what I have to do the next day. Instead of enjoying playtime or storytime with Ellie, my mind is somewhere else. When I was in St. Louis for a conference a few weeks ago, Ellie's daycare called my cell because she was sick. DH couldn't get to her for several hours because of what he was in the middle of and I was sick about it. She was fine, of course, but those are the little things about work that I hate. But then, you all have heard it all before from me.
Sorry you are feeling blue Seabee. I hope you feel better soon.

just checking in, i'm feeling really low about being back home, DP has agreed that we will move to NZ as soon as he has graduated, but right now that doesn't seem real or possible. My college is finished and i did not pass, i had hopes of doing an additional year to complete the units but that is not looking promising. My partner went off to college and my daughter to nursery and i'm left at home to do the housework and unpacking and it doesn't feel right at all, i gotta get a job.

Way to go on the weight loss! That is so awesome!
Grace - is this full time or part time? Didn't you mention something part time a while back? If it has flexibility, and pay that covers well over the cost of daycare - it might be worth it. Of course you know I want to be a SAHM so bad...but then again, I would probably miss working. I can see both sides...I would definitely miss the extra income.
But that new neighborhood of yours, with the pool...not that being a SAHM is laying by the pool all day, but it would be nice to be able to go everyday if you want. I have this whole picture, you know. I would be going on daily walks, going to the pool, house would be in order, dinner wouldn't be the same old thing. Yeah, I know, right!

Hi everyone. I know I haven't been here in a while I'm in the middle of moving. Its been a very stressful couple of months trying to find a place I can afford. This is our last week in our old place and I still have a lot of stuff to get out. The good news is that even with all the stress my dieting is going pretty well. My weight loss has slowed down but I've still lost a total of 33 lbs. I hope you're all doing well and having a good summer.

Hey Tootie!
Been busy with the two little ones. Merrick is rolling and practically crawling now, so a lot of my time is spent keeping him from hitting his head on the walls and furniture!
We are about a month away from our house being done, so now there is all the prep for closing on a house and moving....UGH.
In other news, I went on a job interview and it sounds like this company REALLY wants to hire me. They are basically opening a project manager position for me...but they have to post it internally for a week before they can make me an offer. The big thing will be for me to decide whether or not it's worth going back to work.

We have a summer rain storm going on this afternoon and I am enjoying it. Ellie is napping and I have the house opened up to the storm doors (because its too darn hot to open it all the way up) and I can listen to the rain. Ahhh.
Anyone around today?

I guess everyone is out enjoying summer!
We've been busy with house projects. Got oldest DD's room finished off in the basement and painted. Now we're switching Matthew and Caitlyn into the slightly larger bedroom and my other daughter into their old room...so more painting and furniture moving. In 3 weeks we'll take out trip back east to see family and we'll be there about 3 weeks. Then when we get back, school starts for the girls. Time just flies by...
Matthew has calmed down a bit. He won't nap anymore and but he's in bed by 7:30 or 8, with the nap, he was asleep around 9 or 9:30. We'll see how that works out when the girls are back in school and we have activities to run around for, but for now, it's been working.
Caitlyn has 2 teeth and is trying to move around but she's not there yet. All my kids have been pretty happy, easy-going babies, but she is by far the happiest one I think.
Hope you're all good! Hi Summarcook!

I've been gone for a week and only 2 posts! We are some busy mommies.
I just returned from a conference in St. Louis. It was good, but I sure missed my girl. I'm also exhausted.
How is everyone?

Alright, we have a showing, in like 45 minutes. And my DH is home getting the house ready-- kind of makes me nervous.
I have to say, I'm feeling lucky about this one!

Oh please don't let Ellie stop napping! I NEED that time!
My mom is trying to sell her house so she can move to our town and it has just been so slow. It's really frustrating because once you are ready, you want it to happen!

Aw, sorry you are bummed out Julie! Do you have an agent helping you sell the house? I know it's easy to say, but it is still early and you might have to give it a little time. Do you live in an area that is in demand? Are you planning an Open House? Maybe that will help bring people in. I know 10 years ago when we sold our house in San Antonio that when we tried to sell it ourselves we barely got any interest and what interest we got was from some real yahoos. Once we listed it with an agent we had interest pop up within a couple of weeks.
It's hard to say...they say the real estate market is cooling off...and locale and price have a lot to do with what people are looking at. If you do have an agent, have you asked what he or she is doing to drum up interest in your property?
I will keep my fingers crossed for you that someone comes in for a "look see" really soon!
For the past 2 days I've been dealing with the fun of a 2 year old who refuses to nap. The down side is I don't get any "me" time in the afternoon, but the upshot is that she went to bed really easily and willingly last night without the nap....so...I guess it's just one of those things. I just put Merrick down in hopes HE will nap....he sort of fought napping yesterday too...though, as long as he sleeps through the night...which he does..then I won't complain too much!

Well, Ladies, I am DEPRESSED!!!
Our crappy townhouse is on the market, (has been since last tuesday) and not a single person has even come to look at it.
So depressing. We've outgrown this place so bad. I keep telling myself that it's out of my hands and it's in the hands of fate, but still. I wouldn't feel so bad if someone would at least come and look at it!!!

Well, that's a good thing to keep in mind. I'll be able to be home with them when they're at the ages where they're trying to sneak around and get away with stuff. I like that thought- makes me feel much better.
Gosh, it is so crazy how fast they're growing up. I gave away my infant car seat today. Which kind of makes me sad, but, it's funny that when I'm with the two of them, I HATE the idea of having more- I think there's no way I could handle it. But when they're not with me (when I'm at work- sitting here, bored), I think I want another.
But, thanks to Dr. Snip Snip that won't be happening. And I don't regret it... yet. Maybe I will someday, but now, the two little punks are enough.

Can we all be on the lottery plan?
Julie, I worked with my first 2. Well, parttime but I was finishing college too. It was a crazy time. To tell you the truth, one of the big reasons I stay home is because of my older girls. I know if I had to put the babies in daycare they would be taken care of and having fun. What scares me to death is if my teen and almost teen had the run of the house for 3 hours before I got home. They are basically good kids, but I hear them tell me what other kids are doing (and I'm not so old that I don't remember my own teen years) and I'm glad that I can be here. Again, I'm lucky to have the option.

I love the quote! I keep it next to where I pay bills since I have always worked in social services with kids making not as much as I am worth!
Merc- what you are doing as a sahm is just as worthwhile - NO more worthwhile - than what people with masters degrees and phd's are doing. I agree that you won't regret it and since it makes you happy that's all that matters!
And if working outside of the home makes you happy, then that happiness makes you a better mom, and thus a better shaper of young lives.
So it's a win/win Grace...all you have to do is decide! No problem, right?

It's been 5 years since I quit working full time and I still get conflicted about it sometimes. Especially since DH has 2 law degrees and a phd...I feel like I should be doing more with my "potential". Also, my mom, 2 of my sisters and my brother all have master's degrees (2 in education, 2 have MBAs). But, my mom stayed home with us until we were all in school and went back for her masters in her 50s. That's the thought that keeps me home. If I'm lucky, life is long and I have forever to go back to school or back to work...and if my life is short for some reason, I don't think I'll regret staying home with the kids. I also realized that a lot of my conflict about it has to do with what I think other people expect of me, when really, most of the time I am completely content and happy to be doing what I am doing right now. Like Tootie said, some people have the "need" to be working at a job...I am not one of those people.
And as 1950's housewife as it sounds, I do get a sense of accomplishment volunteering at the kids' schools, organizing community events, stuff like that.

That quote makes me feel better (although not intended for me). My last day of work is 6/20 to have my baby and become a SAHM. I keep thinking how broke we will be - but I know looking back it will all be worth it! Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Grace- I read a quote and thought of your situation, so I wanted to share, it said:
One hundred years from now, It won't matter what car I drove, What kind of house I lived in, How much I had in my bank account, Nor what my clothes looked like, But, the world may be a little better Because I was important in the life of a child.

Thanks for the advice ladies! When one prior recruiter came my way, I flat out told him I wanted a position that was part time and allowed for telecommuting. The employer was willing to let me telecommute once I got "up and running" but they said the position generally worked up to 50 (can you imagine??) hours per week and I had to say "thanks but no thanks". The employer did say they liked my resume enough that they wanted me to look them up once I was in the market again to work full time, which I guess is a good thing. The pre-interview with the contract agency went well. I got tested on my "business systems analyst skills" via a computer based, multiple choice test and I am proud to say, even after 6 months away from doing the job I still scored an 87%...and they told me the average is 72%...so I felt pretty good! I figure worst case, once they send my resume to the client, if they want an interview, I can go and feel things out. Once I am face to face with them I can find out how flexible they will be with work hours, possible part time and maybe even telecomutting. I keep trying to tell myself that I don't HAVE to take any job right now.
Ah...honest toddlers. We were driving past a field of cows one day and one of the cow had it's rear end up to the fence....Amelia says "cow has a BIG heiney" and then goes on to say "mommy has a big heiney"...oh gee....thanks for sharing that! She also tells me that "mommy is beautiful"...so I guess it's not always bad!

at least you have an excuse for having a big belly!
Whats air con? LOL
the weather is so wet here at the moment that its doesn't actually matter, i just keep reminding myself that it will be just as wet but cooler in NZ when we visit.
Grace, maybe you could use your time at home with the kids to just keep putting that resume out there to get a feel for the market (so to speak) but not take a job for a year or two (unless you wind up in a situation where you need to) It seems such a shame to miss these precious moments with your kids stuck in an office if you don't need to. Putting your resume out there and going for the odd interview is not a bad thing to do, since you never know when things might get tough and you need that to fall back on, but while you don't need the work it doesn't hurt to say no thankyou when offered a position.

Children are too honest! My husband told Cody the other day that "Cody has a big belly" Cody pointed at me and said "Mommy has big belly too"! It was so funny. Cody saw me changing the other day and pointed at my belly and said "Mommy BIG belly" and started laughing so hard. The truth hurts sometimes!

Grace- that's a tough one! I'm sure that the cost of living between Boston and Houston is pretty different too, and that the paycheck would go much further in Houston. That's a really tough call, and unfortunately one only you can make. Is it full time work? Any way they'd hire you part time? I feel as if part time would be perfect. Those are some tough options to weigh.
As far as a/c, add me to the "no a/c" list. We broke down and got a room unit last summer, and I don't think we'd have made it through the summer without it. We don't really have humidity in Denver, though- so that makes a huge difference. I'm sure it's one of those things that if you're used to it, it's hard to go without.
This has turned into a long and tiring day. Took Caley to the doctor this morning. She woke up with diarhea (spelling?) and I felt so bad!! My husband went to get her, and there was a mess, and she said in her sweet little voice "sorry, daddy". Poor girl. How has she learned to be embarassed by this??? It breaks my heart. I wish she would let us know when this happens!!!
But on a lighter note, I took her to the doctor, and while we were waiting she told me "mommy has a moustache". And I said, "no, grandpa has a moustache" and she corrected me, and reiterated that I had a moustache. I guess it's time to bust out the wax.
