I think I read the areas can bulge and I imagine until they harden that they might still change shape somewhat.

That part I knew about, but it's not the soft spots I'm concerned about. It's the other areas that already have the bones in place - it's just that they are not fully hardened... Do none of your babyies have bones that seem to still move and change shape?
Thanks for the time line on the soft spots, I had forgotten how long they are around and haven't looked it up... ;)

Ok...I was told by a nurse that babies have two soft spots. One is located in the back of the head and closes up around 2 months or so. The other is on top of the head and shouldn't close up until 9 months to a year.

In fact, the nurse told me that Kendyl's soft spot is unusually small and for me to check it every night at bath time. If it closes, I'm to the call the doctor immediately.

That's what my nurse told me. You may want to ask your doctor...

that's a good question. I don't know myself. When Spencer was 2 weeks we asked his pediatrician and all he said was sometimes it calcifies. Spencer's head is now solid and his soft spots are gone. His head was all mis-shapen at birth because he was sunny side up. His head is perfectly shaped now he looks like he could have been a c-section baby.
Sorry I wasn't any help was-so-ever!

I'm curious (and since I'm on a posting rampage - I thought I'd ask you ladies)...
When do our babies skulls harden enough that they won't mold one minute to the next. Jayden is very good at turning his little head, and we do it for him sometimes also. He doesn't have a flat spot, but sometimes there are little ridges that come and go... Do you find your little ones have this happen to them? And when will it stop??? It bugs me as I feel guilty about it somehow, like it's my fault. There's nothing I can do about it, short of rotating his head every 2 minutes ;)
I'm hoping it'll harden soon!
