My son had this too and I had the doctor call in some antibiotic eye ointment and it cleared it right up after the first dose and hasn't been a problem since.

Oh yes...my 1st and now this one had it. Just wipe with a clean wet cloth and it eventually goes away. Just keep an eye on it. Took about 3-4 weeks for it to completely go away.

My son had this before we left the hospital. The said it was a blocked tear duct and he may need surgery. The started him on iv antibiotics and sent us the next day to see a surgeon. By the time we got to see the doctor his eye had pretty much completely cleared up. It was decided that he would have one more dose of the iv antibiotics and then we could switch to oral so we could take him home from the hospital. His eye was so full of gunk it wouldn't open and was swollen underneath. Although it was all very scary at the time, please know that it is very common. It is good that you are seeing your doctor so soon. Good luck and keep us updated.

Hannah had this the other day, when we went to the dr. he said it was probably just a blocked tear duct and that it is very common. I didn't know about massaging the eye, but that is a very good idea. Make sure you're using a clean cloth each time, wiping from inside of eye to outside and not wiping both eyes with same cloth. I wouldn't be concerned just wait til the dr.'s appt. today.

It sounds like a clogged tear duct to me. Take the wam wash cloth and massage the corner of her eye twice a day for 10-15 seconds till it goes away. We have had lots of those with our babies.

It looks like she has a bunch of sleep in her eye. I wipe it out with a warm wash and a few minutes later it is stuck shut again. SO aunt said it is probably a blocked tear duct, but i am worried. We go to the doctor tonight for her 2 week check up. Has any of your babies had this happen and is it anything to worry about and get her in earlier than tonight?
