Oh wow.. what a wonderful birth story! As someone who does fast labours I know how manic it can be but I still think it's great.. no time to think!!
So glad everything went well for you, sorry about the back labour though. Hope you are both doing well.

Congratulations! What an amazing labor. I don't think you waited too long. It's so hard to know when to go in. You going to post pics when you get a chance? :)
Pic is Blue 30 minutes old.

Jordi Douglas January 9th, 1:07PM, 8 pounds, 21 inches
At about 6:00AM, I woke up with back pain, which happened almost every night so I tried to go back to sleep. About ten minutes later, the pain in my back woke me up again. I decided to take a bath and maybe that would help with the pain. I ran my bath water and got in and DD woke up and came in the bathroom and said that she wanted to sleep in our bed for a while. My back was really hurting but I got out of the tub and back in bed with her. At about 7:30AM, I couldn’t lie in bed anymore and asked DH if he could get up with her and get her breakfast so that I could get back in the tub. After they ate breakfast, DH came in and said that they were going outside to play in the snow. I thought that it was a good idea if they went outside because the pain was getting bad for me and I didn’t want DD to see me like that and be afraid. At about 10AM, I started feeling really nauseated and hot so I got out of the tub and ate a popsicle and started pacing up and down the hallway. My mom called and I told her that I was in labor and that she should probably come up. She also said that I should call my doctor. I really didn’t want to go into the hospital yet because I knew that because of the Group B Strep that I would have to get an IV as soon as I got there and I didn’t want to be restricted this time. Before I could call my doctor, my aunt called and said that she was in town and asked if she could come and visit. I said that it really wasn’t a good time since I was in labor. When I called my doctor, she said just to come in and get checked to see how the labor was progressing. DH and DD came back in and I started getting dressed. The pain was getting worse so I started bending over and swaying side to side with the contractions. I didn’t time them but they seemed to be coming closer and closer together. At about 11AM, we called my mom and asked how close they were. They hadn’t even left yet and they live 45 minutes away! I decided to get back in the tub again but this time when I sat down, I felt pressure so I knew that we had to get to the hospital ASAP. We called my aunt back and asked if they could come over and stay with DD because we really had to go to the hospital. Thank God they were in town! I got dressed again and as soon as my aunt came over, we got our bag and the car seat and went out to the garage. I had a contraction as we got in the garage and then got in the car. A couple minutes later, I had another one and didn’t know what to do since I was in the car and couldn’t bend over or sway or anything. DH said to grab onto something and breathe through it. I grabbed for the steering wheel and he said, “Not that!” so I grabbed onto the emergency brake and his arm and did the best I could. As we pulled into the hospital’s valet parking, I had another contraction and as the guy was asking questions, I was like, “Come on! I’m in labor!” We got inside and to the elevator and as we got out, we had to check in at security at labor and delivery and I had another contraction. There was a young kid working and he looked scared to death that I would deliver the baby in front of him so he just let us in and asked DH to come back later and get a badge. On my way down the hall, I had another contraction and had to stop. We finally got to labor and delivery at about noon and they got me a room and a gown and said that my doctor would be there to check me in ten minutes. My mom showed up right behind us. My contractions were about two minutes apart. A nurse started my IV and the doctor finally came at 12:30PM. As she was checking me (I was 9CM already!), my water broke and there was meconuim in it. That upset me because I was thinking that I had done something wrong that stressed out the baby. Like maybe I should have gone to the hospital sooner or something. My doctor said that I could start pushing if I wanted to. The back labor was horrible. I knew by how bad the back pain was that he was facing up and I also knew that it’s twice as hard to push a baby out that way. I pushed for about 20 minutes; half on my back and half on my side, and Jordi Douglas was born at 1:07PM, weighed 8 pounds even, and was 21 inches long. He cried right away and they put him on my chest and DH got to cut the cord. They took him away just for a minute to suction him because of the meconium and they had a NICU nurse on hand just to make sure that his lungs were okay. Then they brought him back to me so he could nurse. I was really surprised but he wanted to eat right away. He’s a beautiful and perfect baby and looks so much like his big sister! I didn’t have any tearing or need any stitches. Because of the bleeding problem that I had last time, my doctor ordered three IV bags of pitocin for me (which eventually made my legs swell up to twice their size!) to keep my uterus contracting and the nurses came in every 20 minutes to push on my stomach, which was pretty painful. Eventually, I got showered and put in the postpartum room. Jordi never left our room, except to get his circumcision and hearing tests. We spent two days at the hospital. The only part of me that was sore this time was my tailbone, which was badly bruised from delivering Jordi face-up. This labor was fast and furious compared to my other labor. It was nice, though, to not even have the option of pain meds this time but we almost didn’t make it to the hospital in time! I’m really proud of myself for laboring so long at home, even though I probably did it a little too long!
