Renee,
That's awesome! They really do make you feel cared about. I didn't know that you could see them as you would just for an OB appointment. That's cool that you can do that! I can't believe you have had four kids....you look so GREAT. What is your secret?

RENEE,
Ah yes....I remember those days of baby being strapped to the boob. I actualy look forward to that this time. LAst time I was a nervous wreck all the time! The Midwife got us an earlier appointment so we will be seeing her tomorrow if all goes well. I will let you know how it goes! The Doula was great! We spent four hours together and she shared a wealth of information.

thank you!!
so far its going wonderfully! shes strapped to the boob pretty much all day, but other than that its okay, lol!!! the kids all love her, gavin is AMAZING with her.. i was worried for nothing!!
My midwife spoke of the hypnobirthing.. i hadnt looked into it befoer the birth though. at the birth, she said its just using your breathing to move the baby. so, thats what i did.. and it WORKS! the doula will be amazing helping you with that im sure! Tom basically just irritated me to be honest. i think i must have told him to just shut up like 3 times, haha! women tend to be more aware of what YOU need when you need it:)
im so excited for you!!! let me know how its going!!!

RENEE,
We could not get back in to see her until August 28,th so we have to wait another week! Im so ready to get it going so I can dump my OB ASAP. Don't get me wrong....he's a very nice guy but Im just so tired of being another number in the office. I love the closeness of having a midwife and Doula and the incredible support and energy I feel from that.
Yeah....I think it's great that they are gonna pay half! That's better than nothing at all. We will have to pay the Doula out of pocket as well but it's not that much. She's great support. We met with the Doula yesterday and went over my birth plans, watched a birthing video...it was great. She's gonna help me with hypnobirthing, etc. Should be fun!LOL! How's it going with your new baby?

RENEE,
We had an appointment scheduled last week to go and speak with a midwife at the birthing center but she had to cancel due to an emergency birth and no other midwives available at the time. We are scheduled for next week instead! It looks like our insurance will pay for half of the costs and we will have to pay the rest out of pocket. My husband has already agreed that he's willing to do that! We just gotta get ok'ed by the midwife and get things going that way. I meet with my Doula on Friday again to spend a few hours watching natural birthing videos and discussing my wishes for my birth! I'll let you know how our appointment goes! Thanks!

thank you!! i was surprised about the insurance actually.. i had issues finding an OB to accept it, but the birthing center i had no issues! and OMG, i think you would LOVE using a center and MW! its sooo much more 1 on 1, so personal. they dont treat you like a number.. like a real person! they love having the whole family involved in the pregnancy, labor, birth process. The birth itself was so much more intimate. not okay, hurry up, get the baby out so i can go on with my day type of feelings. Let me know how your appointment goes, i HOPE your insurance will cover it for you!!!

That really is awesome! Yeah, I'm not one of those who look at hospital stays as "the nurses wait on you and you just get to relax." It's VERY stressful for me to be anywhere but home. I can't believe a nurse comes to your HOUSE the next day.
Is this it for you guys or do you plan on having more?

thank you!!! it was amazing.. i was shocked at how fast/ pain free it went.. until the VERY end of course, but i was already fully dilated before it hurt!
yes, 4 hrs.. thank goodness! at the hospital births, i stayed the 24 hrs.. and hated it! i had a follow up care call today, to check in on us, and a nurse is coming out ot our house tomorrow to check us both out. how great is that? lol, i dont even have to leave!

After my due date came and went, I was sure I wouldn’t be meeting our new little lady for awhile yet. I was due on July 24th, but didn’t really expect to see her little face for at least another week…maybe longer! I tried taking the castor oil a few days before my due date, since at my last appointment I was 4, almost 5 cm dilated. I just wasn’t in active labor yet. After that didn’t work, I was SURE it would take awhile longer! I noticed on the 24th and 25th that I had lost some of my mucus plug, though we all know that doesn’t necessarily mean labor is imminent! So I didn’t freak out about it, or get overly excited. I went about my day on Saturday the 25th, trying to find our oldest a dirt bike for his birthday. I finally popped the ‘bubble’ and decided he could have one. We went to look at one, but it was just too large for him. I told him we would call around, and then go on Sunday to look at some more ( Sunday being his actual birthday ). I finally layed down for bed around 2 am, and slept badly due to some mild cramping. I woke up at 5am on Sunday to pee thinking it would stop the cramping. As soon as I stood up I realized I felt a little different. When I went in to the bathroom, I noticed some light spotting. As I stood up, I also noticed that the cramping was ACTUAL contractions! I went to take a shower, shaved, put my make up on, etc.. ( hey I wanted to look cute, ya know? ) and I woke Tom up. That took a few tries, lol. Then he flew out of bed CRYING, freaking out. He came unglued! It was actually funny. He was a MESS! After I woke him up I got the kids up and got them all dressed, got our bags to the car… Tom freaking out the whole time, so he really wasn’t much help.. ( shh.. don’t tell him I said that ! ) We had to take a slight detour on the way to the birthing center ( which was about an hour drive away ) to pick up a friend from Tom’s work to help us with the kids. I also placed the call to the on call midwife to let her know we were on our way! i wondered if wed make it.. tom kept BAWLING and driving like a NUT!!! My contractions went from 5 minutes apart to 3 minutes apart during our drive there. I was not in bad pain at all, just light cramping, with a few intense ones mixed in. I was happy, walking, talking, felt GREAT! The midwife met us at the birthing center at about 8am. She checked me as soon as I arrived, and I was already 7cm. I was shocked.. Like I said, I was NOT in pain! The nurse Then came in, and couldn’t believe I was in labor, lol. She said I looked way too good to be getting ready for transition. The kids helped in the room, we filled the birthing tub so I would be able to use it if I wanted to. They popped in and out of the room, we had told them they could be in the room if they so chose to, or they could go out. I sat in the tub for awhile, just relaxed. At about 9:30 am the midwife came into the room and asked how I was doing. I told her okay, but the contractions were getting more intense. I was still not in bad pain, just breathing though the contractions. I wanted to let my body do the hard part.. Breathe my baby down slowly. I was fully dilated by this point ( yes it was fast! ) but my water still hadn’t broken. We were letting nature do its work! At 10am I felt a strange pop and felt a pain in my back, my water had broken on its own! Tom thought it was awesome seeing my water break in the tub, lol. I still was trying to just breath with some very light pushes to bring her down. All of a sudden, I realized the tub was NOT where I wanted to be. I was just not comfortable, I cant explain it. I hollered I HAD to get out.. The midwife said, ummm… the baby is here, I don’t think we can get you out! Well, tom threw her one look, and they helped me out of the tub and to the bed. Once there, I layed on my side and held up one leg. I had a contraction SO intense I got scared and told tom I didn’t think I could push her out. I wrapped my arms around his neck, put my face to his. He whispered to me in my ear, Sweetie, you can do it, youre DOING it! Then the midwife asked tom if he wanted to feel the head.. He put his hand there and felt her hair. He immediately started crying again. I wrapped my arms back around him and pushed. I knew she was right there, my breathing had brought her the whole way down. The midwife applied some oil to help with the tearing. One push and our baby girls head was out, tom then reached down and helped turn her and birth her shoulders, he pulled her out and layed her on me in the next push. I must have been pushing hard, when she came out I heard fluid go FLYING! But our baby girl was HERE! Born at 10:27am on July 26, her big brothers birthday! She weighed 7 lbs 13 oz, ( my smallest baby! ) and 20 inches long.
Right after she was born the kids ran in the room. Alexia was in with us, until she saw the baby’s hair… she said she got a little scared. But it was amazing to have them all there with us right afterwards. They helped wipe her off, alexia helped daddy cut the cord… such a magical wonderful moment for us to be able to share! I did end up with a little tiny tear up top, and she put one little stitch in it to be sure it healed up pretty, lol.
We stayed at the birthing center for 4 hours, then we came home! We are both doing wonderfully! Arleigh breastfeeds NON STOP lol, and my milk has already come in! Having our daughter at the center was amazing, I had had 3 natural non medicated hospital births, but there was NOTHING like this experience! I am so thrilled with our decision to use a free standing center rather than the hospital again! The kids adore their new little sister, they have been so wonderful though all of this!!! I am truly blessed with an amazing family!
