how is it going MJ? Has steve seen the DR yet? We will be ttc around AUG most likely, we could be due around the same time again, altho I have a feeling it might take me awhile to get preggo cos my cycles are all out of wack since working night shift.

I had the same screen name but rarely logged on. I agree though with trying not to worry. Stress is a bad thing for us with PCOS. I know easier said than done. Since being diagnosed with PCOS I have tried to eat a better diet. I would say 80 percent of the time I eat healthy and every now and then I treat myself.

I had gestational diabetes with my first so I learned how to eat the diabetic way and make good food combinations. With PCOS it is probably wise to look at a diabetic diet as a guideline. There are a lot of books out there on the subject as well as ways to increase your fertility. I worked out as well. Exercise really helps women with PCOS not just for weight control but also for insulin control and stress relief. I found that it really helped with the sickness I felt when starting Metformin.

The supplement I use is from Nature Made. It is RX Essentials. I really feel that it made a world a difference, plus people who take Metformin tend to have lower levels of B vitamins. This supplement is B6 (which has been shown to improve the quality of cervical mucous) B12 and Folic Acid. They are in higher levels than regular vitamins which I think is necessary given the usage of Meformin.

One other tip is to try and eat protein every time you eat. It helps insulin levels from spiking and also helps with hunger. For example instead of just and apple I would do apple slices with almond butter.

It took my body several months to regulate itself and I think I stressed myself at times wanting to see immediate results. One thing my doctor reminded me of was that PCOS doesn't develop overnight and it is unreasonable to think that it can be fixed overnight. I also remember feeling like sex was a chore. I was so consumed with making sure I got the right days that I forgot how to enjoy the act of making a baby. Once I let go and gave my body the time it needed nature just took over.

Again wishing all the best. I know it can be difficult journey at times and it is easy to get down. Don't let yourself go there. Just look at all the medical advances there are today and give your body the time it needs to realign itself. It will happen. In the meantime enjoy all the practice sessions.

MaryJo Just tell him to stop the owrry and go for it. Having "fun" is half of the making a baby. If he's stressing God sees he's trying to controll it all to much and it will never happen.

Hi,
I haven't been on here since Kaitlyn was born in Nov. of 2005. I just wanted to tell you that I too have PCOS. I was put on Metformin due to not ovulating. I lost about 15 pounds within 6 weeks and within 5 months I was ovulating and finally having a regular cycle. The first month I ovulated we got pregnant and our expecting our second child in October. One thing that I did take in addition to the Metformin was an over the counter vitamin supplement for those on Metformin. I really think it helped increase the quality of my cervical mucous. I also used a product called Pre-Seed. It acts just like cervical mucous and does not harm sperm like so many other lubricants. Wishing you all the best.

I haven't started taking it yet. I was told to start taking it on day 3 of AF and it's just spotting now. So I'm guessing day 1 will be either tomorrow or Monday.

I am too so excited for you to find out. Have you ever been on Clomid before? I was prescribed it, but never took it.

Thanks!! I'm going to try and not worry about it. Steve told me to get him some caffeine pills instead cuz getting up, drinking coffee, going back to bed - the process is what makes him start to freak out. So if he can just pop a pill when he gets up to pee, he'll be ready to go! I also have to find him some "hard on pill" (sorry if tmi) cuz he worries himself to the point where he can't you know what. That's how bad he wants a boy. I am drinking tons of water now so hopefully that'll help. I have to with the meds I'm on. I'm on Metformin for my pcos and now I'm about to start Clomid which dries you out. So the extra water will help with that too. I'll let you all know how we make out in a few weeks...lol

Ha ha ha Kat - You're funny! Guess Phil is just better at picking out the boys! I personally think all this diet and timing crap is stupid. I am of the opinion that God knows what He's doing and what He sends you. Steve said he's ready to go and all I have to do is get him some pills that will keep him UP and ready to go! LOL

Yep, we're just BDing on "my days" but the problem with the Oing is the studies I've read say if you want a boy the woman has to O before the man. If you want a girl, it suggests you let the man do his thing first and don't O... silly but still on his mind since he wants a boy!

Steve and I talked about it again today and he said the problem is he's got a lot on his mind when it comes to baby making. We read a lot about how to help make it a boy and a lot of it is diet stuff. Like he is supposed to have some form of caffein right before the act, he's supposed to load up on vit C and E. He has to be on top, and I have to have an O before him. All those things keep running thru his mind and I think it's getting to be too much. I told him not to worry about it and just enjoy it. But he really wants to do everything he can to have a boy. I told him the alternative is no baby at all...LOL

Congrats Maryjo! I hope you get preggo quickly. Happy Humping...lol. That was hilarious! But so true! As for what you just posted. That happened to my DH a couple of times...lol. He said that I drained him. However, after 8 months of trying for Rhys...I suppose I did drain him!

LOL You're funny. There was no egg those 3 days cuz I think it is happening now. We were supposed to BD this morning but the dickie didn't want to play. We tried and tried, but he just wouldn't "stay up"... Too much pressure I guess.

That is good news, so when is she referring you. My friend had the same thing, she only gets her period twice a year. They said wehn she decides to have children (scary though her as a mother!) that they have heaps of options avaliable.
I think they use the diabetic meds first.
let us know

Well I'm happy to report that my OB has refered me to a reproductive endocrinologist because I'm not ovulating on my own. In the past 6 mos I've only gotten one period, so those aren't good odds. I'm hoping she'll have good news and be able to help us!
