Well, we've finally got some ideas, thanks for all the suggestions!!
We're going to make lady bug shaped invites for Katies party, then we'll probably do a similar thing for the thank you's. The party itself is just going to be a back yard bbq type thing. Food, cake and presents...you know the drill.
We'll do Halloween themed things when she gets older and can dress up more.

Our invites were ordered - we should receive them by the end of this week and then get them out in the mail. We will have it here - hopefully the weather will cooperate - Gosh - we can't fit that many people in our house -

I wanted to have a costume party for her first birthday, but DH said NO. So I wanted to rent out a party place for children 1-6, but they wanted t o charge me $200.00 for only two hours. And I thought that that was too much. So my mom wants to have it in her neck of the woods, which is about two hours from where we live. And I'm not really excited about this idea, but I don't want it at my house, nor do I want to pay this much for a party that might not start on time.

As of right now we are going to plan on having friends from church over and have a indoor party but run in and out of the house to cook the food. October here is Alaska is really cold and it could even snow too. So indoors we are going to stay! I think we are just going to do a cute little flower theme with butterflies or lady bugs. But them things could change if my husband gets a job in Harrisburg because we would be in PA at that point and would get to celebrate it with family which would be soooo cool for us.

My dh wanted to do a halloween theme but I wanted to do something else for her first. i told him he could do halloween for all her other bdays if he wanted. I was thinking of having a small party. I wanted to do a baby einstein theme but as she gets bigger, the more she strays away from BE. We will see.

Well, we'll probably keep Leah's 1st birthday small, with immediate family. The way I figure, their birthday parties will get bigger as they get older, so there's no need for a big bash this time. Besides, I wouldn't want her to get overstimulated and be fussy at her party. Leah loves being social, but at her own pace. I've started picking out decorations. The one thing I'm going to go all out on is her cake. I was a cake decorater for 7 years at Baskin Robbins, so my kids will always have a well decorated cake. I think I'm going to go with a sugar free banana cake...so Leah can eat all she wants. (We don't give our kids a lot of sugar.) I might do a couple tiers with a bunch of roses, so it looks kinda fancy and girly. Can you tell I'm all about the cake? lol As for presents, I'm not sure what to get her. We started a tradition with Joshua that we will do for Leah too. We'll take her to Build-A-Bear to make her first "special" stuffed animal. Other then that, I'm open to ideas.
Children are miracles straight from God.

Okay Ladies! In no time at all our little ones will be turning 1!!
If you are having parties for them what are you doing?
Big party or small? Theme? Indoors or out?
We have considered having a small party with just immmediate family this year and then a big party when she turns two...but I don't know. I love the idea of having a bigger party, afterall, she's only turning one once. Not sure what we'll do for a theme, but it will most likely be indoors. Maybe we'll have it at our house so that we can move it out in to the yard if it's warm enough.
