I've always heard it called a "Jack and Jill" shower. My sister-in-law had one for me this past Sunday. She thought it would make me feel more comfortable since it was mostly my fiance's family and friends, some of whom I hadn't met until Sunday because we had been living in CA. Amy even found the cutest poem to put on the invitations that was very appropriate. I'll post the poem if you like...just let me know.

Really cute idea! And I really like the luau theme! Maybe get rid of the word "shower" and I guess the word "couples" as well and just name the party something interesting like Beach Baby Bash or whatever!! LOL. The invite itself will clue people into what the party is about (so that they still bring gifts) and who it is addressed to will let them know who is invited (Stacy & John Smith). Just because it is a "couple's shower" doesn't mean that you need to bring a date, it just means that there will be women and men present.

Does anyone have any good ideas for the name of a couples shower. My sister is currently planning mine, but my mom is being very childish about the whole thing. She feels that a couples shower will leave out all of the single people, which isn't the idea at all. She only makes a deal about it because she's single, and feels that she would have to bring a date. The main reason we're doing a boy/girl shower is so my husband can attend, as well as many of his friends (who are single). Its going to have a luau theme, and be more of an outdoor party than a shower. So, if any of you have a cute idea for a name that will put my mom at bay, but still implies that the guys can come, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks! Chelsea
